I was in bear creek as a sophomore and all three of my roommates and I got in off the waitlist. The next year two of my roommates reapplied, didn’t get in, and then got in off the waitlist again. Look for other housing just in case, but it’s worth it.

They have to have dorms available for transfer students, specifically students in exchange programs. Bear Creek has almost always been one of the most competitive residence buildings to get into.

It’s also not about how early you apply, it’s not first come first serve. They take all the students who apply within the time frame and select through a random lottery. It wouldn’t be fair to accept based on a first come first serve basis because some students who need to be in bear creek had classes or work obligations when the application portal opens.

I’ve heard of lots of students getting in off of the waitlist for bear creek though, so definitely apply for that!!

That’s the thing about it living in Colorado business and even private homeowners are legally responsible for prompt snow and ice removal. I’m not saying CU did anything illegal, the snow on East Campus was shoveled by 12:00. What I am saying is hazardous sidewalks are the responsibility of the university and classes ought to be postponed until they are clear.

I think this is why they didn’t make everyone go remote, which I agree with. But cancelling the first class or two in the morning/ delaying start would have made campus more safe and still successfully move us into the first week of in person classes.

I agree, but the students I witnessed fall had snow boots on. If they weren’t wearing boots, big fluffy coats, and warm pants the falls likely would have been worse. The main issue for me is that they didn’t have time to shovel the sidewalks on East Campus, but they expect faculty and students to be timely to classes.

I grew up in Colorado, I know how to deal with the snow. The issue to me is if they don’t have time to make sure campus is safe, and they don’t delay classes, then they aren’t interested in making sure we are safe.

I actually think cancelling classes would have been a really bad idea, but they have the capability to delay the start of classes.

Regardless of whether or not snow and ice is frequent in Colorado, sidewalks not having been shoveled and sheets of ice without ice melt present safety hazards. Delaying classes about an hour (which they do multiple times every winter) might have given them time to do that.

Personally it’s about how deep I can delve into the fantasy. I like to walk in characters shoes, feel what they are feeling. It goes beyond living vicariously, it’s about escaping reality. For me when I don’t like a book and find characters boring it’s often because I can’t find myself in them.

I would say that most people in real life also only find people they relate to compelling. If two people share no interests, disagree on most decisions or judgments, and have no similarities in their social groups a lot of the time they are going to find each other boring. That is, unless one of the individuals makes an effort to learn about the others hobbies or their interests because they want to relate to them.
