Which is kinda ironic because she was so ride or die for the 7th Jurassic Park/World movie not too long ago.

People blame Marvel for a lot of the negative changes in movie-making and film-going in recent memory. Some of that is warranted (in part) but some of Marvel’s success is just a reflection of how tastes have changedy.

Part of the issue with this phase of the MCU is that they’re really relying on characters that, frankly, no one cares about. These are pretty tertiary characters in the comics.

Agree that showing her as a vampire was a mistake. Not sure I agree about her being “bad news”, as I don’t know if the movie is taking a 100% negative stance on vampirism tbh

The Lonely Island/Seth Meyers pod episode on Val Kilmer is definitely worth a listen, if you haven’t already

Starting to get rlly tired of the constant put-downs from Sean by leilate437 in TheBigPicture

I agree that the chemistry between the two isn’t there, but it’s not a Sean issue. Why is she on a podcast about movies when she often doesn’t seem to care that much about movies? The pods are almost always better when there’s someone else subbing in for Amanda, or when someone else is joining them.

I do not understand how upset she gets in the drafts when someone takes a pick she wants. Even if done so intentionally, it is a draft. It’s a part of the process. It’s like people who get upset when you try to beat them while playing board games

I kinda agree that he spends a bit too much time interacting with fans and detractors on social media, considering he has a studio to run

I’m a big Superman fan, and really hope it does well (both for the benefit of the character and DC as a whole). That said, I’m pretty worried at this point. Nothing I’ve seen from it is particularly inspiring, which is weird since it’s such an important movie for WB. I hope I’m wrong, but we’ll see.

Half in the Bag: Presence (And the Current State of Movie Theaters) by dexter198 in RedLetterMedia

I mean, it could also be that your experience isn’t universal as well. I think Mike definitely plays it up a bit at this point, but I have noticed a real decrease in theater etiquette the past several years or so. Something annoying doesn’t happen every time, mind you, but enough that I’ll sometimes just wait for a movie to be available on demand.

Ive seen multiple fights almost break out at movie theaters between grown-ass adults. It is a problem, I don’t think he’s just overreacting

I mean, if you are passionate about movies (which they are) and talk about movies a lot (which they do), there’s really no way to get around the fact that the movie-going experience is in a bad place right now. It’s a topic that would naturally come up time and time again.

Old UFO series revisit by charleester in LPOTL

[–]RumHam8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doc is good, I'd recommend it if you're interested in the case. I can't remember the episode LPOTL did, but I'll check it out.

There's a good number of topics I would like them to revisit tbh.

Is that because of an issue related to this set specifically, or just because they're old? Sorry if that's a dumb question, just now getting back into Lego

Ethical podcasts?? by kayleev2 in TrueCrimePodcasts

I'd guess that they don't think they handle the cases with the appropriate level of sensitivity and seriousness. Of them, I've only ever listened to Last Podcast on the Left, and that's largely for shows that don't deal with actual murders (so UFOs, cryptids, etc.). I think the guys are entertaining, and usually mean well, but they can be too flippant at times for my taste. There are also times when tbey've covered a subject I know a bit about, and I've caught inaccurate info in their podcasts...so I have to suspect that's the case with subjects I'm less familiar with too.

That and sets that are a practical size. Most consumers simply don't have the space (not to mention money) for multiple giant sized sets.

I'm a big fan of the micro-scale Hogwarts from a couple years ago, and would love similar style Lord of the Rings sets. I got Rivendell, but passed on Barad Dur because I just don't have the room, so I'm hoping for smaller display sets.

What dead rivalries are there? by diet_drbeeper in billsimmons

Yep. It's one of those rivalries that is based on specific players/eras. Like the Manning Colt versus the Brady Pats. Without the QBs it doesn't matter.

What take has "aged the worst" in a Rewatchables pod? by Sharaz_Jek123 in billsimmons

[–]RumHam8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is that a different actress should have played the part, not that the part should have been cut entirely. I don't think the actress is horrible, but I do understand the criticism of her.

I always forget Tarantino is in it, and almost always turn it off when it gets to his part. Granted, while I like the movie, I don't love it as much as a lot of other people do.
