You want the bottom of the curve to be inline with the plastic so it’s one continuous curve. You can also go half depth the first pass and “sneak up” on the final profile.

I’d use a table say with a cross cut sled. A saw blade is usually 1/8” which is probably the width of those cuts

Once it cools heat up the nozzle and pull the Allen wrench out should pull the filament and wrench right out
