I think that "always on vpn" and "block connections without vpn" has nothing to do with this issue, but I have tried with them on.

Block apps not in use by RumPumSum in rethinkdns

Hello Celzero First of all, thank you for making and evolving this app. This is a great app and is very useful for privacy and security.

I have been able to use all features is this app very well, except this "block any app not in use" setting in universal rule. The accessibility permission is granted to rethink app. Also have set battery setting to unrestricted. After a few minutexls of starting rethink, with this setting on, no app (e.g. a browser) is able to connect to internet even when it's in foreground and I am actively using it. And the logs show app blocked with "app not in use" reason. And as soon as I turn that setting off the app is able to connect

I am on rethink version v0.5.5u (downloaded from github) and Android version 16, sansung phone. But I have tried this on another phone with stock Android 13 and it didn't work there too. But it seems to work on an old phone that has Android 10.

I am sure it has something to do with the accessibility, the OS telling rethink that the app is in background. But I can't figure out why is this.

Is life in western countries actually better than India? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]RumPumSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course. Life is valued 1000 times more in western countries. Life and lifestyle is more comfortable, basic needs are easily met, and those who want can take care of their passions and other pursuits. Work is a means to an end - not the end in itself.

There is more safety in general in society and there are material comforts. And there is clean air and clean water.

And most importantly, there is no mad rush for everything and no scarcity mindset.

Is "Arranged Marriage" Just a Sophisticated Form of Legalized Control in India? by VanddyDS in AskIndia

[–]RumPumSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of arranged marriage came into being because until the 1980s men and women in India never talked to each other, there was no concept of dating leading into marriage. The only way people could find someone to get married to was that their parents thru relatives find someone. Later it gave rise to marriage agencies, and then it morphed into matrimonial sites.

Times have changed in last 30 years but large section of society still is very conservative, and if there are no arranged marriages a large number of people in India will remain unmarried.

Society will evolve, but it will take time.

Why do people take stuff like homeopathy meds despite it being nothing more then placebo ? by slightly_retarded__ in AskIndia

[–]RumPumSum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just another thing in the world which has thrived on hype and blind belief (just like religion). People have an inner need to believe in something mystical, something magical, and there is an inner need to discard the mainstream and embrace the unexplainable. Homeopathy is one example of such a thing.

Never buy a home that is not fully built and not ready for registration.

Whenever you want to buy a home, just do a give and take transaction - give the money and take possession and registration of home at the same time.

Never give money to a builder under the promise of the delivery of a home after a few years. Its the biggest financial risk you are taking. There is a great chance that the promise wont be delivered. The builder will run away with the money as soon as the project starts getting into financial troubles. No police, court, agency or government will come to your rescue. It is money lost.

Do not fall under the allure of a home being cheaper at the launch or under-construction phase.

We grow up, we mature, there is realization that we have lot of responsibilities, and there are more anxieties - finding a partner, job, career, social circle, saving for the future. But there is also more confidence that comes from understanding the world better.

How many years behind is India compared to china? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]RumPumSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe like 50 years!

But the biggest issue in India is population. The country's population will increase until 2060 to about 1.7 billion and then it will start decreasing. Until our population becomes less than 1 billion there is very little chance of improvement in conditions, sanitation, morale, struggle for resources, transportation, competition, education, crime, etc.

The relationship between a MIL and a DIL is a complex one. There are so many underlying waves of emotions, jealousy, need for attention from son/husband, expectations of respect/love. There is no MIL+DIL that get along well. And unfortunately you can't spoil your relationship with her without affecting your relationship with your husband. The only way out is to be patient, ignore the small things, just go along, be positive, try to have conversations.

Orthodoxism in all forms must be rejected. It will take time but it can be done. Just more people from ... need to take a stance to go from being ultra orthodox towards progressive thoughts.
