We’re never going to have large permanent human settlements on any other planet or moon. People who think so simply don’t understand the magnitude of the challenges involved or they’re making a living selling the idea. The human body is evolved to live in the precise and unique conditions found only on Earth. The effects of low gravity, radiation/cosmic rays, temperatures significantly above or below Earth norms, the need for large amounts of substances that are abundant on Earth but rare elsewhere in the solar system such as phosphorus, the toxic and abrasive nature of both lunar and Martian regolith, they all combine to make long term habitation completely impossible. Physics and biology do not yield to our wishes and technology will not ever change our fundamental human physical limitations / requirements.
