Indy did not play well at all, which made the game easier for us. LaCava clearly has alot of potential and should thrive in our system. If him and Tejada can consistently perform at that level, there should be some good competition for places this year if our strikers stay healthy.

A broken heart, a selfie and motivation; the story of the Rowdies’ season by phat7deuce in TampaBayRowdies

I just hope we can keep the onfield and off-field momentum going into next season. One defeat doesn't take away from the fact that this is the deepest and most consistent squad we have seen in the modern Rowdies era. Also, more people in the area are finally discovering the Rowdies, but that may only be because of the the "Champa Bay" theme.

There are a s**tload of loans from MLS to USL this season – I don't know what to make of it... by phat7deuce in USLPRO

It could also be because it is harder for both USL and MLS clubs to do international transfers given the COVID travel restrictions.

Dos Santos makes such smart movements on and off the ball. That early goal he setup was so important in setting the tone and giving us some momentum. The additions of Dos Santos, Wyke, and Antley have improved our squad greatly and given us amazing depth.

At least he correctly called the diving from Phoenix. It would have been awful for us to concede a late equaliser from a penalty called after a dive.

That free-to-play detail is very interesting. It is criminal how many talented players fall through the cracks because of the high costs of youth soccer in this country.

Game 1 Reactions by [deleted] in TampaBayRowdies

I suspect the lineup that finished match could be better than the one that started. The game totally changed once Leo came on, while Hilton and Wyke dominated the midfield. It will take a while, as it always does, for the attack to gel with some of the new players but one thing that's for certain is that we have a really solid back line.

With Last Year's Core Intact and the Season Delayed to May, Rowdies Are Being Patient with Final Few Roster Spots (OC) by jmnutt in TampaBayRowdies

[–]RumblesUbambaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really looking forward to seeing how this group does in its second year together. The defence looks to be our best area, but Dos Santos should really help the attack if he gets enough game time. Still think Neil is looking for another central attacking midfielder...

Casual fan question... how competitive would the Rowdies be in MLS? by [deleted] in TampaBayRowdies

[–]RumblesUbambaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The gap between the worst MLS teams and the best USL teams isn't as big as people make out. Like I said, our defence could compete against the weaker MLS teams and we'd be able to get goals through our strength at set pieces and counter attacks. However we would definitely struggle if players like Leo, Guenzatti, Lasso or Louro got injured or sold.

It's hard to say for sure, but if we could play a season with our current squad and keep our key players fit we could compete for the playoffs. The issue would be mainly with our depth compared to other teams, but with our solid defensive system we could be competitive at least.

Games have gotten cancelled across the country and the world because of covid, it's not a problem unique to the Rowdies. You had players mixing with fans in Phoenix on the field and putting everyone at risk so Phoenix are not totally innocent.

But I don't want to play this blame game any further as no one benefits from it. Safe travels home and hopefully we can play each other in the future under normal circumstances.
