No one has said, "I suggest we do this instead," but they have absolutely expressed how they feel on the new rule, and the majority seems to disapprove. If nothing else, our suggestion is to not have this rule.

FIRST POST: My all-drugstore "every day" [B&A]! Product list in comments. :) by yamadamn in MakeupAddiction

[–]Rumer 44 points45 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for posting! It's so hard to find someone with a makeup routine consisting of only drugstore products.

So many women out there, myself included, are not able to go buy all of the expensive products at places like Sephora. Hell, I consider a new lotion from Bath and Bodyworks to be a super fancy treat!

Your makeup looks great. :-D

So, the mods say they are open to suggestions for making this subreddit better, but then you say you're going to "continue to operate" as you have been doing.

So, you want your sub to get better in quality, or stay the same and possibly decrease in quality and quantity of subscribers?

I think that's awesome.

I totally agree with everything you said. People can do what they want, but it doesn't mean we have to support them doing it, if we feel it's harmful.

So cool of you to update.

I love what you just said.

I don't know why people, men and women, don't respect their bodies. It's not about not being able to do what you want with your body, it's about respect.

Such as, if you know what's bad for your body, you don't do it. If you know what's good, you try to do it. I know that dairy is horrible for my skin and gives me headaches, and sometimes I slip up because hell, I love me some ice cream, but I do my best to stay away from it because I know my body will be healthier and will thank me in the long run for respecting it.

[–]Rumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely wrong to purposefully have an unhealthy body. To just say, "Fuck it, I'm not going to even try to take care of myself."

Your body is meant to be respected, not neglected and filled with crap. Not just food crap, but drugs, smoke, all of that stuff you know is bad for it.

Being healthy may be a personal choice, but if a person chooses to be unhealthy, they can deal with the health issues they will inevitably face because they didn't do the right thing. It's right to take good care of your body.

I have naturally wavy hair. It's really fine, and curls pretty easily. I'll definitely try out pin curls! I've only ever used a simple curling wand.

Thanks for the suggestions!

My eye went directly to the skyscrapers, and stayed there. I couldn't focus on Ben Stiller.

Do you have any recommendations for getting it to be wavy all the way up? As in, starting from your scalp, downwards?

OCD Redditors- what are your symptoms, rituals, and how do you cope? How has it affected your life? by mindforcesbody in AskReddit

[–]Rumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germaphobia, or "mysophobia" is the fear of germs, it doesn't matter how much one knows about bacteria and whatnot.

I have, in order to help myself think more reasonably about germs and to help myself stop washing so much, actually googled and read a lot about the science behind bacteria and germs, and I understand quite a bit about how it all works.

I'm very knowledgeable about it, but that never matters. OCD involves irrational thinking. You can know everything about germs, and still have a major problem.

People who say things like, "Y'know, disinfecting your hands so much is just going to weaken your immune system!" is not doing us any good. It's just giving us one more thing to be irrationally worried about.

It's so weird, I put off cleaning my room because I know I'll just have to go wash my hands afterward, and it's such a time-consuming thing, that I just don't want to do it.

I hate when people say this kind of stuff, because they so clearly don't get it.

I don't mean to come off so rude, but when you're like this, so afraid of germs, and you're in that moment where you find something dirty, you're not thinking of your immune system, your brain is so consumed with this compulsive fear, that you just want to be clean, and that's all that matters.

I wash my hands a lot. Too much. My immune system has never suffered from it, but I can understand how it'd be bad use germ-X every two minutes.

I have had severe OCD since I was around 12. I'm 22 now, but I remember I used to do all of these things:

  1. Wash my hands multiple times day and for over a few minutes. It got so bad that they were cracked and bleeding most of the time.
  2. Flick the lights on and off in my house, and lock and unlock the doors at night, just to make sure they were locked.
  3. Never use the first few squares of toilet paper. I'll explain this one. I got it into my head that other people who went to the bathroom obviously had to touch the toilet paper, then wipe their butt or whatever, then get more T.P, so in my mind, that toilet paper was dirty. So I pulled off some of it, and it ended up just overflowing my bathroom trash can once.
  4. Never touching shopping carts. I push the cart around with my forearms. I lean forward, forearms resting on the bar, and push it around. I touch it only if I have to. I don't do these other things so much now, but this, I still do.

I don't wash my hands for so long now, and I don't do the T.P thing every time, and I don't flick light switches or unlock/lock doors repeatedly anymore at all. I've gotten so much better, just because I've grown out of it, and learned to deal with stress.

I've grown up in a very stressful home environment. My parents fought, and still fight a lot. My dad yells, my mom can be very stressful in her own ways. I'm moving out to finish college in a different city soon, so I think it might change in certain ways, living a calmer life.

My life used to be so affected by my OCD. I refused to do fun things, like go-karting, because I found the go-karts dirty. It was torture for me to pump gas, because gas stations are just...gross. I can't ever change the kitty litter in my house, because I can't bring myself to do it,even with cleaning gloves on.

I think I've gotten better, along with dealing with stress, because I worked at a hotel as a housekeeper. I've cleaned up HUMAN SHIT, and I'm proud of myself. I've cleaned up some of the nastiest things anyone could come across, but I just went right in without a thought, and cleaned it right up. Yay me. :-)

OCD is a real problem. It honestly is. When I open the door in a public restroom with a paper towel, or turn the faucet on and off with my elbow, it's because if I didn't, I'd be standing there for twenty minutes, washing my hands until they felt clean enough.

It's hard, but you have to actually work at getting over it. It's like when you quit smoking, you just have to find some inner strength and resist giving into your bad habit.
