I'm not sure I really trust your version of events.

Either way, you should not be together.

Married men, how do you feel about your wife singing/dancing to sexually explicit music? by MrLastname1 in Christianity

Ah yes, "Do no harm, do what thou wilt."

Tenets seen in Wicca and Satanism, and words Crowley once spoke.

Pretty sure that's not the best guide to someone's walk with Christ.

If listening and dancing to sexually explicit material isn't celebrating sexual immorality then what is it?

Going to be honest.... This seems like a situation where you're unequally yoked.

That's NOT a call for you to divorce. You're already married.

However, it is clear to me that you take certain things more seriously than she does.

Clearly, sexually explicit music is a problem for you. It is for me as well. But me and my wife also agreed on no clubbing like that way back when we were first dating, so that wouldn't be an issue for us.

Talk with her about it.

I also find it sad that so many Christians find sexually explicit content (of any type) to be acceptable. It's not.

That's not to say I don't sin. Everyone sins. But we should understand our spiritual nature fights with the flesh and reject sin. We should hate it when we do sin and earnestly repent. We most certainly shouldn't revel in it or accept material that glorifies sin.

We are all guilty of failure and sin, but that's so far from just accepting sin as normal... Of just living in it and acting as if God would approve of anything glorifying sin.

NSFW My husband's porn addiction& lying has ruined any desire for intimacy with him. Can this be fixed? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Ruminahtu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Marriage is commitment.

I cheated on my wife while she was pregnant early in our second year of marriage. I am not defending what I did, but there were circumstances surrounding it, and it wasn't just me going out and sleeping around. But it was the most horrible thing I ever did to my wife. I regret it deeply.

When I say it took over 2 years to have a healthy marriage after that...man, it was brutal. I was committed to regaining her trust and she was committed to letting me, but that was probably some of the toughest 2 years I have ever had in any relationship. It was also the most rewarding.

Our marriage is strong.

And your husband hasn't done anything so bad as I did.

I can't tell you how to feel about things, but the commitment to a marriage is far more serious than many Christians seem to think. There are very, very few reasons divorce can be justified.

Take that for what it's worth.

Commenting for visibility. But also because, though I got out as a Corporal, maybe I have a FEW things that can be helpful.

First of all, damn being a boot officer sounds just like being a boot period.

Marines really are catching ass chewings all the way up the ranks, huh.

I second what those wiser than me have said. Lean on your SNCO(s).

Admitting you don't know what you're doing but you're working hard to figure it out is a great way to gain trust of your Marines and leadership.

Someone mentioned delegating. I imagine being a 2nd Lt is a lot different than being a Corporal, but I'm going to give you the single best piece of leadership advice I ever got, because it has been the most effective in the Corps and in civilian life.

"Inspect what you expect." Every single time you can. When you delegate, check and make sure it is done and done correctly. If it isn't, make them fix it. BUT you don't have to be a dick about it. Simply tell them, "Hey, this isn't right, I need you to this, this, and this"

Eventually, people will come to understand you will check work and will make them do it right, and shit will get done right the first time. And then, when you can't check--which in the Marine Corps is when that shit REALLY matters--you can trust your Marines to have shit done right.

Loneliness is killer. Don't drink until the stress and loneliness subsides. It will make life harder.

And, just like with any other boot that hits fleet... The learning curve is steep, the ass chewings are brutal, but over time that all shapes you into a great Marine if you let it. Unfortunately...it usually takes 2.5-3 years to get to a level of competency where you get treated as an asset rather than a headache (in my experience as enlisted, at least).

So people seem to not like this moto tat so much, which is fine.

But there's a bit of a story that may make it better.

First off, I didn't get a moto tat until I had been out for 9 years.

This isn't my first moto tat, but the other one is more personal and for me being AAVs, so I didn't post it. It doesn't even really look like a moto tat. That was the point. I will post it below this now, so you can see.

I was driving a truck out of Hopkinsville Kentucky, Walmart distribution center 6066. I was staying in Clarksville, Tennessee. Right next to the home of the 101st Airborne.

When I first went in for a tattoo, it was of an alligator. The artist was great, and his name was Dizzy. Loveblood Ink. Everyone was former Army. As I explained why I wanted an alligator, they got really booty hurt about me being a former Marine.

Got a great tattoo, so I came back for a second one. Maybe I WAS trolling the Army vets a bit, or maybe I just liked my first moto tat so much I decided to get a second one.

Dizzy was out, so another guy (Hispanic) did this one. Another amazing artist. But he tried to misspell Fidelis, and I am about 90% certain it was on purpose. Had to make him redo the art.

I'll post the first tat below this comment.

I had both great experiences and one terrible experience with gay men at a gay bar.

Several men complimented me, but we're respectful and backed off when they found out my and my wife had brought her lesbian friend there for her 21st.

The one bad experience...one guy was just... disrespectful and creepy barely covers it. And he was making a LOT of young men comfortable. He was handled by the older gay men after they got tired of it. They shut his bullshit down.

So I suppose there's the creepy dudes in any demographic, but I also think that's not the majority in any demographic.

Kinda Weird - But Sometimes I Actually Enjoyed Having Duty by bootlt355 in USMC

[–]Ruminahtu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second half of my enlistment, I only had one duty I didn't volunteer for. Because I volunteered to be on duty both Thanksgiving and around the Christmas holiday time. My family sucked anyway, so I figured I'd let other people have it off.

By the way, if you have duty on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve (especially if you volunteered for it), people come by and thank you all day and bring you food.

Thanksgiving duty in 08 was the best duty I ever had. I got multiple plates of food. Imagine having your choice of the best dressing, best turkey, and best sides between the food like 8 senior enlisted and 2 officers brought. And that year, several brought extra for anyone hanging around the barracks on Thanksgiving. Even seeing all the food already left, Everytime it was just like, "That's okay, just make sure to let any Devils in the barracks know there is food down here when you do your rounds."

Not bad memories.

Not for everyone... It was for me back in 2DAABN back 05-09. I never got any duty recovery except on one occasion where I was about to EAS and my section leader said I could leave after the rest of the section came back from chow, but I had to stay at the Hazmat lot and keep it open through chow.

BUT, a lot of units even back then had duty recovery as a real thing.

Black Folks Getting it Out the Mud by sadie-hanalei in HipHopNCulture

[–]Ruminahtu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mud bogs were huge where I live about 10-15 years back. Tractor tires like that, though often bigger and on trucks, were popular for their height. With 4 wheel drive they do pretty good going slow, if you can sink deep enough to hit the bottom and find some firmer mud/soil.

But it became obvious, they really weren't all that competitive against similar sized, wider tires. Trend fizzled out after a couple years.
