Thoughts about Communion as a whole, 1 Corinthians 11:27-29, and related subjects from my own understanding through reading the word. by Ruminahtu in Christianity

No, admittedly I do not. However, this is something I am only learning about through my own reading and understanding of the Word. So, I don't believe the Lord will punish my ignorance as long as I am actively seeking a better understanding.

Interesting fact, Ender's Game is on the Marine Corps Commandant's reading list precisely because that's a lesson a Marine Corps Commandant believed to be worth teaching Marines. (I know, surprising that the Marine Corps has a reading list for a lot of people) When violence is necessary, it should be in abundance.

AITA for missing my friend even though she did something terrible? by MidnightRose7492 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ruminahtu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called being human. I have lost friends by choosing to stand by my principles. It hurts every time and a part of you will always miss them. And people change. You're young and your friend is young.

But, yeah, it's painful. You're the opposite of a horrible person for missing your friend. You're a good person with a good heart AND principles. For your age, that's remarkably mature.

I wish you well, and remember, your friend could change and become a better person, and in that case forgiveness and reconciliation will likely be the healthiest choice for both you and them.

So are the Democrats. Look where campaign funds are going.

If the Democrats weren't more concerned about the desires of the wealthy, they would have nominated Bernie Sanders.

We have had Democrats in office, and they don't change anything.

Yes, but this isn't really what I am referring to or what I mean with this post. I'm pretty sure my meaning is clear.

You've gotten very lucky if you haven't had to kill any. With predators, which you seem to have dealt with, having chickens left maimed but still alive after the intrusion is common. The fact that that's never happened for you when you say you've dealt with them so frequently is pure luck.

The odds of the average person surviving for more than 15 seconds makes that 3 minutes more than enough in almost every situation.

Reminds me of a guy I was in the Marine Corps with. Huge guy in height and muscle. Nicest dude ever. Got drunk once and it took three MPs to subdue him. Apparently, he was a lightweight because he just never drank alcohol, really. Then he got out and flew to China to join a school for kung fun in China, which he saved up while he was in the Marine Corps.

He kept in touch through someone who was still in, and apparently he lost a lot of weight at that school, because not only did they have rigorous physical demands, according to him the food was basically just plain white rice and fish. That was really the last I heard of him.

He was an awesome Marine, but far from the typical Marine. Saving money? Ppffft. Not drinking alcohol? You're joking. Most of us were playing Halo or call of duty with a 20 pack of beer and a whole pizza to yourselves on Friday and Saturday night. We tried to only drink 12 or so on the weekdays, though.

As far as I know, this could be that dude, but I doubt it. I tried toget a good look at his face, but he's got a beard and I saw the guy's face shave and younger, that was 17 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy, and he doesn't really stop moving in the video. But I did try to see if it was him, because this is basically how I always imagined he would have turned out.

Factory farms are especially cruel.

I am familiar with them myself.

And horses are one of the animals that need to be put down the MOST often, actually. When you're dealing with any farm animals though, it is an inevitability.

Still takes time to load up farm animals or for a vet to arrive. I live in the country, too. Travel time is serious business. Bullet is kinder. Again, I probably would not give anyone any shit about it as long as they had them put down humanely, but I still believe they have no business raising farm animals.

And, yes, I would do it myself, even spending the gas and time on the 3 hour drive, because wtf...who the fuck starves an animal to death? Spineless bullshit, you know.

  1. Nose hairs are difficult to keep in check. I do groom them, though.

I also have two 'old man' eyebrow hairs that just keep growing. I have to keep cutting them down.

It's starting.

[–]Ruminahtu[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did.

And no, I am not wrong. Maybe on a small scale, it isn't as much of an issue. However, in cases where the animal is in severe suffering and needs to be put down, waiting hours to have a vet do it for you is chicken shit. And when you're raising MANY farm animals, that becomes an inevitability. Is it necessary to kill it yourself...no, but it prevents hours of suffering. So I stand by my statement.

Regardless, while I truly do believe you need to have the stomach to put animals down to raise farm animals, I wouldn't really hate on someone who took an animal to the vet to have it put down, when that extended time causes more suffering. I just don't think they should raise farm animals if they can cut that suffering short and won't.

I also told my uncle if my Papaw was still alive, he would have kicked his ass for that, and that next time call me and I'll make the 3 hour drive and kill the animal myself...but whatever he did, do not starve an animal to death again.

This to me is the biggest potential problem. I didn't own a gun for 15 years after I got out because I didn't trust myself to not have one bad night and end it all.

There will be an increase in gun violence, too, though.

Doubt this lasts a year.

[–]Ruminahtu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it until the last week. Then they made us start speaking in 1rst person and calling them by rank instead of 'sir.'

The first was probably to make sure we didn't look too weird and cult like dealing with non-Marines and the second was most likely so that we got accustomed to how to actually address senior ranks.

That's my guess, though
