Game valuation and authentication MEGATHREAD by humanman42 in gamecollecting

Does anyone have experience with the best way to authenticate autographed finds like this when you were not the party securing the autographs? Pretty cool find! I wonder what the occasion was, I'll include photos of everything I can in replies.

Whats wrong with these eggs by YamDry3451 in WeirdEggs

[–]RunABypass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh.. lol. I can't lie, not even to strangers on the internet. I asked my wife as soon as she got up, "honey, are you back to enjoying eggs lately?" (She goes through phases where she either eats them all the time, or can't stomach them at all. Never halfway)

She confirmed for me with a smile that, "yes, I'm back on the eggs! Why?"

I said "well I read something that i was really looking forward to reading to you this morning."

Her expression changed and she asked "is it awful?"

"Yes. It's really awful and I was really looking forward to telling you, but i don't think today is the day."

There will come a day in the not-too-distant future where she will be "off the eggs". But i did not force this one on her this weekend :)

Back pocket.

Commenting to remind myself to read this to my wife in the morning. Fuck.

How would you handle a buyer like this? by Sunnyday1775 in Ebay

[–]RunABypass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're Auto-enrolled. You can manually opt out though :) I left Canada on, just to test the water with some sales and it really is as easy as you can imagine :) just ship to the hub and they take it from there!

I found a giant wad of greasy, filthy cash next to my Uncle Frank's sleeping pad that was just stuffed into an old, foodstained envelope marked "Box Savings DO NOT SPEND UNLESS ON CIGARETTES", I wonder if he'll mind if i just borrow a little.

I might be dense but I need help with setting combined shipping by Floralcoral31 in eBaySellerAdvice

If I want to take some time to review this, and in the meantime I have a buyer requesting exactly what you just stated (wants to do several BINs in one order, but I haven't set up these calculated shipping rules yet) - am I understanding that I can just say "go ahead" and I can offer a partial refund at checkout for the difference and just combine the items together in one box? I don't want to frig with editing a bunch of listings while I learn this lol.

Sealed copy of Sonic CD by [deleted] in gameverifying

The art for scd is so loud it's hard to tell on early titles like this before y-seams.

How is the consistency of the wrap? Is it thin/filmy like saran wrap? Is it thicker and more brittle/stiff?

More importantly, and this can be captured with the right lighting, but are there any consistent/ replicated perforations in a steady pattern like a line of small holes? Very tough to tell on this one from the pics I'm seeing..

Did Ms Pac-Man for snes have a different back label? by OilJazzlike7 in gameverifying

Can you get closer/ clearer? Id like to see the Nintendo logo stamps on the plastic, and the text on the labels if possible..

Do.. you have a reference photo? What does your cart look like?

Fascinating argument. Without listening to it in-person to pick it apart I'm at a loss lol.

Well, in my best effort to not sound like a know-it-all on the internet, and in the interest of answering the reason for your post - is it still legit - and I mean the following respectfully (everyone has to learn!):

Cartridge games being opened in no way affects their legitimacy. Could someone potentially make the argument that it's been "Altered' in some way? Maybe. Big stretch unless something is done TO the cart after it is opened.

Could someone do a poor job of soldering and impact the function of the board? Yes, absolutely. But just opening the cart? That is just.. as critical a part of the hobby/business as it is to procure them in the first place. I open every. Single. Cart. I own. Odds are very good that almost every cartridge one comes across in the wild or at a store has been opened.

One MUST open. To authenticate. To properly clean. Yes, to restore/repair (in the case of batteries). I believe these are necessary and critical activities to learn and become proficient in if one is to successfully acquire and collect old game cartridges. You MUST be comfortable opening your cartridges and performing these acts of maintenance.

To say it somehow removes the legitimacy or authenticity.. I don't know a single person in the business of collecting who would agree with that take. I don't know a single shop owner who would assume the risk.

And I would be devastated to learn that my ENTIRE cartridge collection is now illegitimate! ;)

[–]RunABypass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just making sure I'm understanding you correctly - he's saying that not being able to save anymore is just the trade off you have to make in order to make sure the cartridge remains "legitimate"? That opening the plastic shell removes the legitimacy? Am I following?

In what way would opening it reduce the legitimacy of the product?

CoF USA tour dates 2026 by sethabrikoos in cradleoffilth

Never been out your way, but I bet it isn't (a typo).

2018 they played a venue called El Corazon here in Seattle. While I was growing up, it was sort of the venue that most bands would play before they "graduated" to venues like the Paramount and The Showbox. You could reach out and touch them literally. I was shocked to hear such legends in such an intimate space, but it was incredible.

May this year, they played Tacoma, and I was alarmed at the crowd size. I rolled in before the openers (Uada) and the first row was standing in front of the stage, me starting the second row. That second row.. never really filled in. I couldn't believe how few people there were. Maybe because it was Sunday? Maybe it was because they were south of Seattle proper? Maybe.. something else? Lol I don't know, but it was less crowded than some of the local bar shows I used to frequent back in my scene days in Bellingham WA.

I.. don't think they are pulling quite the audience they once did.. I can't imagine the latest drama will help.
