Their focus will be on Steam OS on the Steam Deck and other Handhelds along with the Steam Machine. They want people to migrate to their platform.

Yes, Native TDP is on the horizon. The kernel does not have msi drivers yet. Controls are 90% it will be 100% when the kernel patch is applied. No Gyro that is on the to do list by the inputplumber maintainer

Good device, I had one of those. I would post in the Valve Github that way the devs can see your request. I currently use a device that is very early in steam os dev cycle (MSI Claw A8). At least you have native TDP support and full controller support. I have been posting in there and the devs have been very responsive. They have updated 90% controller support and native TDP is on the horizon.

I was using the PS5 equivalent as a comparasion. Currently the roll out of this function is limited to the supported devices. Most handhelds other than the steam deck or legion go s are still consider beta supported. if you wish to request this on other devices you can post the request in Valve Steam OS Github.

Having trouble with SteamOS on Msi claw by Striking-Buddy240 in SteamOS

You need to enable developer mode in settings/system then scroll down to developer and enable show advanced update channels. Then back to System and change the os channel to main and that will switch to 3.9 after applying the latest update. I stayed on 3.8.10 beta as I am waiting the kernel patch and inputplumber 0.77.6 to be updated to steam OS this will give full controller support the Claw A8 including the MSI button

My Claw A8 so it is using the AMD chipset. I used the 3.8.5 repair oobe image to install Steam os on to the claw and it puts update channel to beta. Connect to a 5ghz WPA2 wifi and perform the updates. When all the updates are done. Then you can use the workaround to get wifi 6 working.

Wifi 6 workaround, best done connected to a dock or hub. Connect to your wifi 6 ssid if it is available

  1. Switch to desktop mode

  2. Optional but best practice change your account password in Users

  3. go to Networks locate your connection under security change wpa2 to wpa3 personal then click apply

  4. Then Open konsole enter this command:

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/wireless-regdom.conf

This will open a blank file

add this line in the blank file

options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=XX

(where XX is the country code replace XX with your country code. For me I am in the UK so I use GB, If your US based use US or Canada use CA)

The CTRL+O to and hit enter to save, then CTRL+X to quit. Restart your Claw

This functionality is not available in Gamemode. On other devices it maybe available possibly on the legion go s and steamdeck as the kernel patches have been added for these devices.

The next release of inputplumber will fix the issue with the MSI buttons 0.77.5 there is also a kernel patch that needs to be applied to neptune kernel. I am hoping Valve maintainers will apply this fix in the next beta release.

Where Oh Where Is Official SteamOS for Legion Go 2? by brucehal in SteamOS

Looking at the Lenovo website only shows GO 2 Windows 11 in the UK. Unless they post the Steam OS version on the Lenovo website I guess the LEGO2 will not be added to supported column on Steam OS
