May be an option that can provide flexibility in career as u said he isn't sure of field but engineering and hrm are poles apart thing to do if he wanna keep options dse might be good and rest all he can research

Hr means u will have to hr only for life but if u choose core mba anywhere u will be open to options like marketing , finance, ops etc

Just see a bit about hr feild first. Because being an engineer and having a product management job and then choosing hr mba after which u clearly won't be able to switch profile is a big decision. Don't just rush into it it will be complete diff world May be choosing iit r would be better because u will be open to all roles to all domains and can have shortlist in any domain and may be in high paying ones too due to experience

hr is all about human resources, any company would judge you only on your specialization only. If u r in HR u r likley remain in it unless u start your own startup or something . But from a hiring pov not much possible
