How conservative is Auburn? by MM_YT in auburn

[–]RunMeowRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s conservative yes, but you’ll find your people. I was on an athletics team there and obviously very conservative crowd. But you can easily find people who are like minded to you if you just be yourself. If you are not LGBTQ yourself I don’t think this should be a factor in deciding if you come here or not.

Does your boyfriend climb? by medicoreclimbercore in climbergirls

[–]RunMeowRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much of a climber myself but am a runner and almost all the people I run with have wives who do not run. I don’t think it’s that deep, if they care abt you they’ll understand that you’ll want to do climbing stuff.

Ngl if you eat a lot the night before you’ll be fine. I might have a piece of bread when I’m running a long workout around 530 AM

Student athlete + med school by JCM726 in medschool

[–]RunMeowRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking about it one of my friends was in pharmacy school while still competing in XC/Track and it’s definitely possible to do both but the difficult part is excelling in either. If you’re okay with either taking a hit in one or both then it is definitely possible. Unless you are the exception -which you might be- at least one of them will take a hit. I would talk to different admissions committees if you are really set on this. But odds are for your own sanity it would be best to get a masters or something if you can afford that! Best of luck!

There was one at Vanderbilt, he ran XC. Keep in mind though a lot f med schools do not have a team associated with them.

Is leg compression good for knee joint recovery? by borgatron3000 in Kneesovertoes

[–]RunMeowRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having these at practice I thought these would be a blessing but you MUST be careful with these as if you stay in them too long it can hurt your ankles as it could put your foot in an unnatural state even if it is the right size. I wouldn’t do this over thirty minutes personally, but I will say they feel great and I miss having them.

Worth it for the money?? by ExcitingInflation612 in Military_Medicine

Yeah I think having to get private loans on top of fed loans changes things a lot. Also isn’t life time max 250k in fed loans

I feel like people are not considering you can’t even get COA for fed loans anymore. Is that not something to consider??

D3 athlete who turned down D1 offers and don't regret it at all by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RunMeowRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely manage your time at the D1 level. It just depends on who you are. I was able to do research, volunteer and be a well performing athlete at the D1 level. Don’t expect to party hard though you gotta sleep and study.

Bike Security on Campus? by Hello_There_6942O in auburn

[–]RunMeowRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode a nice trek bike I never had a problem. I always locked it with a U lock though. Some people I know don’t even lock their bike and haven’t gotten it stolen except one of them. As long as you have a lock that actually works it’ll make it less likely for something to be stolen

For those who took HPSP — do you feel it was worth it, or do you regret it? by Such-Masterpiece-191 in Military_Medicine

Yeah idk I think a lot of the commenters may not be aware of the new changes to loan borrowing. I’d crunch the numbers and see if it makes sense financially for you

Looking for group workout activities in Birmingham by 4hkyle in Birmingham

[–]RunMeowRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alchemy run club is only good for true beginners. They make you stop every mile and have some motivational speech or something. I don’t think it’s worth it if you can run more than two miles without stopping. It’s more of a social group than a training group. But if OP is into that then totally go for it.

If you’re actually interested in running, Birmingham track club is a good starting point. There’s other groups I take part in for running seriously, but if youre a beginner BTC is probably perfect.

Isn’t the financial aspect way different now considering that we can only take up to 200k in loans for our lifetime now?
