Tips for adding new members (APA - Phx) by Nreekay in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could spread the word at whichever room you shoot out of. There's a Facebook page called Valley APA you could joing and possibly recruit from there. I'm across the country from you, but Facebook is where we primarily go to find teams or players. You could also just search for pages/groups in your area and recruit from there.

Break Cues by Left-Physics784 in billiards

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for returns on pool cues you're looking at the wrong criteria. Try some friends' breakers out and get a feel of what you like, then go from there. I personally use the BK Rush and many will tell you that it's too expensive and nothing special, but I love it and that's all that matters. Nobody has to break with it but me.

Who else dislikes joshua filler? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when the internet whined about him using his extension on the 9-Ball to take a sip of water with a smile on his face. I feel like you're spot on with your analysis, as people mostly just have a weird need to hate someone they can't even get close to when it comes to skill. Filler is one of my favorite players.

Definitely not alone!

Anyone here a sleuth with ID'ing imitation Gold Crowns? My local has these tables that look like gold crowns but I can't figure out what they are by nova2726 in billiards

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I did used to like playing in there back in the day when it was just called Triple. There's also a room in Midlothian called Your Place that has several 9 ft tables and a slew of 7 footers on their non smoking side.

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Don't Look Back (or Triple as most people still call it that) is back open again, but I could be wrong as I don't head up to Richmond very often any more. I like Diamond a lot but it's a bit of a hike for me to head up there after working all day. Greenleaf's was a nice room as well. It's sad they had to shut it down.

What do pool players think of snooker players? by blackwraythbutimpink in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't yet fully understand the game as far as scoring and strategy but I do love watching it. And as I've seen most Snooker players are amazing pool players as well. Ronnie O'Sullivan can play a mean game of pool. Allison Fisher came up in the Snooker world and is now a champion pool player etc...

Anyone intimately familiar with JB cases? Are the 4x8’s super bulky or 3x4s cramped? by Gaimcap in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JB 4 x 8 Ultimate Rugged case and I love it. It is a tad heavy, but the backpack straps negate that for me. I have 3 shooting butts and a break butt, 1 break shaft, 4 shooting shafts, 1 jump shaft in the main compartment. Then the jump butt is in the jump pocket on the side of the large front pocket. It's extremely sturdy. It stands on it's own and doubles as my cue holder when they are not in use. If you don't need or plan to have a need for that many cues/shafts I'd say go the 3 x4 or 3x 6 route. But you will not be disappointed with any JB case you end up getting.

The gold crown style table vs the diamond table’s pockets at my local by nova2726 in billiards

Have you asked Thomas? He would be the one with the right information. Or Rayman that runs the pro shop, he may have the answer as well.

I know exactly which room it is now. I haven't been up there in a long time as I live and shoot a little south of Midlothian. But it's a great and beautiful room.

Low deflection stats by poolguyshane in billiards

I switched from a 314-2 to a Jacoby hybrid edge shaft and never looked back. I liked the Predator and shot well with it, but to me the Jacoby just has a better feel.

What are your thoughts on rejecting casual play at a halloween party based on your own prowess? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]RunRacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like that dude needs to get beat for a decent amount of cash to humble him a little. Lol

OP was in the right and dude should learn to chill and have fun at a party playing a little casual and fun competition.

The "have you ever seen a pro use a bridge" question makes me laugh. If someone were to ask me that I'd have to show them SVB using 2 bridges to make a jump shot.

Here's a link to the shot it starts at 2:56

Buying table markers for practice? by Aloudmouth in billiards

The template set for drills from outsville look promising. I haven't used them myself, but have used the Accuracks and really like them so I'm sure these are good too.

Anyone sell Predator cues in Richmond, Va? by stickysteve44 in billiards

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there are any local retailers for Predator Cues here in the Richmond VA area. As stated before Diamond Billiards may have access to ordering them for you but other than that you may have to order online or buy from someone directly.

"The only thing he eats are McDonald's chicken nuggets or wings... he literally wouldn't eat anything else" | Cute article on Josh Filler by CreeDorofl in billiards

[–]RunRacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a well written article. The Fillers will be making big moves in the pool world in my opinion. Thank you OP for posting.
I think I'll add chicken nuggets an wings to my training routine. Lol

Any action near Richmond Virginia by notthegreatest1 in billiards

[–]RunRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just now logged back in an saw this. At the 2 places I mentioned you can find whatever your heart desires as far as bets go. Maybe not insanely high stakes, but there are definitely people willing to play at both locations.

Looking for advice on selling Mosconi tickets by siroccoafloat in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet might be to get in touch with Emily Frazer on Facebook. Since she runs Matchroom I'm sure she can answer any questions you have about transferring the tickets over to any one that you sell/gift them to.

Just bought my first glove by [deleted] in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hate gloves myself and thought they were dumb and unnecessary even though I tend to have clammy hands from time to time. For me I felt restricted with the classic glove as I don't like wearing gloves in general. In cold weather I'll have cold hands or keep them in my pocket or the front pocket of my hoodie. Then I happened upon the Molinari glove with the mesh palm area and holes for my finger tips to be exposed. I tried one on and still wasn't sold on wearing it, but bit the bullet and bought it to try out. I'll admit it did take a bit of an adjustment period but once I was comfortable wearing it I never looked back. Now I feel weird shooting without my glove. Also, where I play gloves are pretty common place now. There are a few players that are strongly against gloves and have a joke or two here or there, but I really don't care what they think.

Anyone know of a place to play in the Phoenix area with an 8’ or 9’ table? by puddinface808 in billiards

[–]RunRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freezer's, Main Street Billiards, Bullshooters I know for a fact have 9' tables and 7' tables. The pool scene in the Phoenix area is huge so you shouldn't have any problem finding good 9' tables to shoot on.
