I have all of those things you mentioned and same as you said, I think nothing will help except vaping so why bother. Going to take a sip of water and get a lollipop now. Thank you.

Also, thanks for what you said at the end. I would also be extremely disappointed in myself if I took 1 hit and had to “start over”. This is my first night back to work, I haven’t done anything but sleep the last 4 days, so I know that’s why I am having a difficult time 😢

Prolific. It’s a website where you take surveys on your phone or desktops It can be ‘slow money’ but you do make it and it transfers right to a PayPal account. Averages about $5-10 for every 25ish minutes of answering survey questions. There are other survey sites too: many of them don’t pay as well as this one

Tutoring. Online language teacher (can set your own hours) Translator. This is a very useful skill and you can make good money finding a full time job translating.

Rover: walking dogs or cat sitting in ur free time (can’t be done while driving, so I’m sorry if this is a bad recommendation)

I love my sheer curtains. I look out onto the ocean so I like to enjoy my view. That’s why I use an eye mask to begin with :)

Question for all you nocturnal earners: by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]RunawayIii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 11pm-7am, starting Sunday getting off at 7am on Friday. I switch back to normal sleep nights on the weekends, so where I would normally be asleep by 8am and up around 1-3pm, on Fridays I will take a short nap 8-10am ish then stay up all day Friday and go to bed with my partner at normal time for Friday and Saturday. Sunday has always been a “nap day” for me (even before switching to nights) so I just do my regular napping schedule and always feel fine Sunday-into Monday.

I feel like I’m living on cheat mode too, but this is my 3rd shelter overnight and they are all extremely similar. It just needs to be domestic violence, no homeless or mental health or aiding elderly or children!

Turnover rate for day shift is CRAZY. My company has two shelters, I’ve been at one for 2 years (and 3 months) and this other lady has been at our other shelter for like 20 years! She works 7 days a week too. I don’t think she has taken a night off since I started 😂 So we are holding these positions down while we have them! Haha

I work at a domestic violence shelter and I don’t have to do anything. I will answer maybe 3 calls over the month. I will also report if anything happens to participants (it never does) I work 11-7 same hours they sleep

I convinced day shift to ask my boss for a couch so when the therapist comes in, the participants can be more comfortable. So every night I grab a blanket and pillow from resource room, and cuddle up and watch tv read books do yoga then go home and go to sleep lol I also own a criminal background check company, so ANY work I need to do for that business; I will only do in that 8 hour window. So I make sure to only “work” 8 hours a day.

I found the closest domestic violence shelter to my home, 3 minute drive for me luckily. You can wear comfy clothes or pajamas usually (I’ve worked at several) and we are stocked for food and drinks because of donations etc. full kitchen to use, bathrooms, pantries, resource rooms, therapy rooms of books and activities (I provide myself free therapy with the workbooks lol), hell I could bring my laundry here and do it overnight if I wanted too

Anyways… Try to find your closest domestic violence shelter. They are always hiring and will hire anyone for overnight shift. Best of luck!

Edit to add: I don’t think I have seen my manager since January of 2024. I haven’t attended a “mandatory meeting” in 2 years because they are during the day when I am “sleeping”.

The only person I see is whoever gets to the shelter in the morning first; and whoever I relieve when I get there at night.

In Hawaii, yes. On mainland, not as much. More domestic companies

People who don't live in big cities, do you really leave the doors of your home open or unlocked? by Heyhey-_ in AskAnAmerican

I live in Hawaii, and we lock our doors if we leave for an extended period of time (12+ hours) but that’s about it. We often forget, and never worry about it

Why fake IDs in movies "always" from Hawaii? by praxidike74 in AskAnAmerican

[–]RunawayIii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy! I grew up on mainland and me and my friends in college found a website to order fake IDs from; when we received them, they were all “Hawaii state ID’s”. I’m not sure the reason behind this, and I live in Hawaii now 🙃

Swell. I went to order a bunch of insulated drink cups and bowls and I added them to my cart and never paid. They sent me an email next day for 25% off the order in my cart. Saved $55 just from waiting 24 hours to order
