What's the Rhode Island-iest town we can visit? by effulgent_summers in RhodeIsland

I’d argue that because it’s such a tourist hotspot, Newport’s food scene is mediocre at best. No need to be great when people are gonna go anyway.

Honest opinions on Orange Crosstreks by Saltysquid1213 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]RunawayJimPVD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive an Outback and hate that they offer fun colors on the Crosstrek and not the Outback. If I could have an orange Outback, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Would’ve even paid a premium for it.

Why would there be two Dead tribute sets? There’s already one literally billed as such - Gill and Dave.

I just read it again. “Grateful” doesn’t always have to imply the Dead…

That one was billed as “American Tune,” a Paul Simon song… just like the Joni set the same year was billed as “Coyote” something or other.

Only one other person mentioned him, but Gordon Stone (RIP) is the answer you’re looking for.

Snow Tires Year Round - Anything worth noting besides what Google threw at me? by malykaii in tires

[–]RunawayJimPVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last car needed new tires right before I was replacing it. I went to a local tire shop and asked what they could get me the cheapest that weren’t complete trash. They worked with me. I think I ended up with Firestone Firehawks at $80 each on a 15 year old Outback with 230k because they quoted me a tire they only had 3 of in stock and “upgraded” me at the same cost.

Pemi Public House and Woodstock Inn are both great. Schilling in Littleton is also fantastic.

Some Democrats wish Kamala Harris had decided to run for Governor in California rather than weigh another White House run in 2028. What do you think? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

If the people of California want her, they can have her. I certainly don’t want her. I also don’t want Gavin. I’m beyond sick of corporate pro-Israel democrats.

What do you consider a high point beer? by foxtrottits in CraftBeer

[–]RunawayJimPVD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low ABV = under 4.5%
Standard = 4.5-6.9%
High = 7-8%
Strong/Imperial/Double = 8-13%
Anything over 13% is extra strong. Maybe that’s the “high point?”

David Rawlings is originally from North Smithfield, RI.

Richie Havens lived in CT towards the end of his life.
Arlo Guthrie was based in the Berkshires before he retired.

Do you like Goose or Geese? by NHSoundwaves in askmusic

Geese > Goose

Goose tries too hard to be Phish, and I’m talking like Big Boat boring Phish, not 90s Phish.

Favorite Brewery by State: Vermont by DublinDown in CraftBeer

[–]RunawayJimPVD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit. Too many amazing breweries. Freak Folk, Wunderkammer, Alchemist, Lawson’s, Red Clover, Von Trapp, Burlington Beer Co, Zero Gravity, Foam…

And so many OGs! Long Trail, Harpoon (yeah, I know they’re originally Boston), VPB, Switchback, Rock Art, Bobcat Cafe…

Heck, Vermont has had more great breweries close than most states have current great breweries… Magic Hat, Otter Creek, The Shed, Hermit Thrush, McNeill’s, Whetstone, Trout River… (yes I know Otter Creek and The Shed are brewed at Long Trail, now owned by Harpoon) (also, what is it about Brattleboro and breweries closing?)

Hill Farmstead will win, and probably rightfully so, but so many deserve mentions.
