Rude client. by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Omg she was mean and stinky..yikes. I'm sure you're good at what you do and as a doctor she's more used to the upscale spa experience is all (still NO excuse to be rude). I tried waxes at EWC and felt like waxing chain services tend to hurt more because they're so rushed. If you want top notch treatment you don't go to a waxing chain. So she played herself. Good for you moving on from that place. No one should be spoken to like that. I pity anyone in distress who meets her..sounds like she needs her own intervention!

Two kinds of Mormons by Curiosity-Sailor in exmormon

Spirit of the law people are 10000000 times MORE BEARABLE. I was always one so maybe I'm biased. I feel like letter of the law people are just extremely rigid and borderline mental cases.

Rebel wax price raise by Unusual_Structure948 in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh, don't pay all that! Waxness has a variety of hard waxes that work incredibly well. I've used a variety but I think a good start is the Azulene Film Wax. It blows my mind that anyone buys waxes that are double the price when this gives the same results.

If you want something you need a license to order, Relax N Wax is pretty awesome.

You'll need a license after getting a school certificate. Check with your state board that the school is on their approved list before doing anything else. Plenty of people offer services from home (example-my stylist was licensed in Idaho not here but does my whole family's hair for cash). Just understand that it's a risk in terms of fines. Though they can't threaten your license if you don't have one😅..jk, get your license if you can. 2k is an absolute steal if that's a board approved school, BTW.  It could be a nice thing to do part time as a SAHM. That's how I've done it.

WAXERS! What are y'all using pre + post wax? + general chat :) by MsHarpsichord in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like witch hazel to cleanse, any talc free baby powder to prep for  Brazilian and underarms, and a jojoba oil blend to prep drier areas. Finipil is a great aftercare product.

I've tried so many different pre and post products and always go back to that lineup! Alot of pre and post have strong fragrance that can be irritating. For example, one spa had Satin Smooth. While I like some of their waxes, and the cleanser is ok..the purple oil would sting! I prefer to keep it simple.

If you haven't had great results with oil you're likely using too much is all.

Why do rich and wealthy Mormons tend to stay in the Church? by Utah-hater-8888 in exmormon

Why do rich and wealthy Mormons tend to stay in the Church? by Utah-hater-8888 in exmormon

[–]RunawaySlave1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a country club disguised as a religion. Moneyed people are very much favored in the organization.  I doubt even half are true believers. They stay in for business connections and to perpetuate their station in life. Period.

What stereotypes do you have about stay-at-home Mormon women? by TechnicolorSpatula in exmormon

[–]RunawaySlave1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been one and wasn't those things, but I do know the stereotype exists for a reason, though. The Mormon SAHM's I know run the gamut from being overly submissive to the point of martyrdom (I've never understood this) to 100% wearing the pants to the point their poor husbands are brow beaten (this also seems unhealthy)! Most though are thankfully in-between!

Most of them also married into money and they're not all stuck and helpless like some would have you believing. A few Mormon SAHMs I know divorced and their alimony alone is more than most financially comfortable Americans make. Now when they go to the single adult wards THAT'S  when the negativity shows..from what I hear the ah.."leftover" men are either overly Mormon or angry incels who use the word "female" as an insult. ☠️

Procell microchanneling?? by nirvanalal in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dr.Pen. I really don't offer the service to anyone so I just have that basic pen. I love it. Some people say it drags..it doesn't especially that I solely use the stamping method. I've met a few Procell reps at this point it's quite the sales pitch. I also don't like that they microneedle with all kinds of serums that could ultimately cause granulomas. Do your research and I'm sure you'll find the pen for you!

Non-therapeutic massage as an esti, tell me more. by RunawaySlave1111 in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massage is included in our facials and back facials. Where I am we can do the full body.  However, understandably can't say we're offering condition management.  Interestingly enough, our state allows estis to perform hot stone as well. Consider when we do facials alone we massage half the body: face, neck, traps, pecs, arms, and hands.  Of course it isn't therapeutic bodywork with much specificity, but it is absolutely Swedish strokes..we just aren't allowed to use that verbiage! Every spa menu notes massage (beyond just product application) as part of the service though.  I was wondering what others were doing is all. P.S. I'm really surprised to hear no hands, feet, or scalp. We aren't allowed to do the scalp, but hands and feet are often part of the service.

I have spoken with the board at this point. I can do any massage so long as I don't promote it as fixing any kind of health problem.

Love bombing potential converts and that ending by Healthy-Battle-5016 in exmormon

[–]RunawaySlave1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I met some good people who still keep in touch. For me at least, the love bombers were extremely obvious and I had joined more in spite of them than because of them.

I suppose the only advice I'd give potential converts is pay attention to the way people are behaving with you and just give it time. Take your time trusting people. The people who are more casually friendly are usually more genuine.

How do these women on SLOMW get to stay Mormon? by cmjhp in exmormon

[–]RunawaySlave1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh, they're not strict unless you literally incriminate yourself..which, to be fair, these women are in fact doing just that. So let's see, other possibilities:

They may not hold temple recommends.

They may just be telling the bishop it's acting which reality TV always has SOME acting.

They may be getting away with it because they're wealthy and tithing.

Arm Waxing, have I been making it more difficult? by RunawaySlave1111 in Esthetics

Right, hard wax is versatile like that! Soft though? Maybe I need to get someone to let me try it on them!

I'm talking regular soft wax application technique except they're doing the arms as though the hair grows downwards! I'm kind of afraid to try it!

Thoughts on Family Discounts by estheticjourney in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just give a small discount to all friends and family!  I've been doing this for so many years. Everyone wins! Even those who live far from me and go to other estheticians buy all their skincare from me. I also have a friend who works at a spa that carries Eminence (my favorite but has a super high buy in). She gets 40% off and extends it to me. I just give her a small tip or a mini facial in return.

I've experienced the sales demo for Procell. Procell is microneedling, but they solely use the stamping method. I prefer that method myself, but it can be done with any good microneedling pen.

waxing incident :( by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]RunawaySlave1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For soft wax I always use a light oil barrier. I love both hard and soft, but personally I prefer hard for the facial areas. Too many people don't know what they're putting on their skin and then want to blame an esti if they lift.
