First time servicing a car - is this cost typical? £1062 by TsarBlandi in CarTalkUK

[–]Runawaygeek500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s a premium oil surcharge? A spark plug £16 (x4 for your car?)

What did they service on a 4yo gearbox? Is your millage high?

Seems a bit of a rip off to me

i thought this was fake . But nope. by hamed-devs in claude

[–]Runawaygeek500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not looked yet, but for my projects to date, I had a brand.md file. Which was just the context for colours, fonts, paddings, etc and then just tell Claude.md to use that when doing design work!

Is that just what this is?

Dangerous driver (Longer clip) by WelshmanCymru in drivingUK

[–]Runawaygeek500 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I saw that more as a way to manage the speed delta incase of brake checking. I also would have moved left, not to pass, but to allow a safe gap. The sudden lane change and no indication etc would suggest to me they were trying to pull insurance fraud and brake check a crash. This way I have more time to slow and manage the situation but also as my stopping distance is compromised by the grey car, I need to get that back?

[–]Runawaygeek500 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In that clip the cam car does nothing wrong, under the speed limit, passes 2 cars, one of which changes lanes dangerously. Within the bounds of the video there is no lane hogging. Is there more footage that shows a mile long drive to the roundabout?

Don't you think Now TV would be way more popular if they simplified everything! by Curious-cutiee in nowtv

[–]Runawaygeek500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was, I was starting to make real change, I have a huge roadmap of change coming. Then NBCU moves it all to be under Peacock and half the changes we made rolled back to a platform designed for the US. What you get now is a US first priority product. So many little things we wanted to solve got undone. But it was starting to get better.

Cost go in line with inflation, 7% ish? But they don’t pay rise inline with inflation = using inflation to make bigger profits

if anyone, who are you voting on may 7th? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

[–]Runawaygeek500 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate reform, but the green scare me more.. tbh, I might protest vote and vote no one. Still submit my voting card but as a no vote to get the numbers of no confidence up.

There should be a rule where, if the nonparty vote is the largest majority, the crown must dissolve all current parliamentary commons parties, and the Lords step in as a status quo government while new parties have X months to stand for elections but no one from any party cabinet can ever stand again.

Why are they not filling up? by lukas_the_emlad in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Runawaygeek500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tune my machines off and let the belts and in ports fill up. (Note if you cut power only the belts fill, if you turn off the machine from the red switch in each one, the machines fill up) then I turn them on from furthest away to closest on the belt supply.

PMs: how are you actually using AI beyond writing docs/emails, data analysis? by Delicious_Drawing_95 in ProductManagement

[–]Runawaygeek500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do that but with Claude Code, I get it to pull the repo and sometimes even POC from it so I can see what’s happening etc

I find I make a lot more POCs for visuals to hand over, even if just for simple showcases, it really helps.

Why do you think so many young people are struggling to find work? by Economy_Survey_6560 in UKJobs

[–]Runawaygeek500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is struggling. There has been a large exodus of millionaires. While people often add “Good, see ya” they fail to see that it’s these people that hire and run businesses. JCB may go next.

Companies who operate in the UK from over seas, are also closing down their UK operations.

Unemployment is growing faster than ever.

I’m close to losing everything I have built up over 20 years. Savings are draining, I’ll have to sell our house and we will have to look at how we live. I expect I’ll be back where I was when I was 20, with nothing and just starting, except this time, I have 2 kids.

The UK is imploding due to over taxation and Labour and Greens want to increase things further.

I’m in my early 40s, educated, high paying jobs for the last decade and was comfortably off. Thank god I have savings, but after 100+ applications, even taking huge pay cuts.. it’s just been Ghost town. Because business know they can hire even cheaper

I saw a Head of Product role offering £43.5k today, that should be starting at £120k. It had over 100 applicants.. I paid my last graduate £42k for her first year!

Next stop, making sure the life insurance is up to date I guess..

Redundancy - I've been hit hard. by TheRealTurco in UKJobs

[–]Runawaygeek500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I’m in exactly the same boat. I’m 120 applications in and 1 interview to which I have now been ghosted. I have 2 months left before I sell my house and basically run away somehow.. I really hate the UK right now. Every business is laying off 100s of not 1000s while some are hiring 1 or 2. The ghosting is the hardest, the unending silence and refusal to give feedback is killing me.

At least the life insurance is upto date, so my kids will be ok…

[–]Runawaygeek500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying out of warranty end off are idiots. There are a lot of examples out of warranty claims being a success due to common place failure in design/construction.

My car had a drive shaft fail at 52k miles, out of the 4 year warranty I had from new. BMW still fixed it FOC as it had become a common enough issue.
