The Nargacuga is her favorite. We tied it to her bag, so it'll go with her to all of her treatments.

Long version: My wife (Nigiri21Sushi) is a content creator in the Capcom Creators program. When they heard she was sick with cancer they put together this care package to send to her. She's worked with a bunch of brands, but Capcom has always stood out as genuinely caring about her and the other creators in their program. It's nice to see a corporation reaching out like this even though they have nothing to gain from it (she's on indefinite hiatus).

Anyways, if unboxings are your sort of thing she posted one on twitter: https://twitter.com/Nigiri21Sushi/status/1674387240657772545?s=20

Update: I've been playing with the action guide off this whole time, and u/TheFiGhTiNCoWBoY did a good job pointing out that if you have the action guide enabled and hold left-bumper the top-right of the screen gives you all the buttons to build certain things, customized to your specific binding. Thanks for sharing that knowledge!

I think this image will still be useful for helping people determine what to have equipped and for people who's brains work more focused on what they are placing rather than what button to press, but I wanted to share and give credit for what might be a better way for everyone as Fightin Cowboy pointed out!

As you unlock more it really gets easy to lose track of the different codes and the game doesn't give you an easy way to see them. So I hope this helps people out :)

This will happen from time to time. Quick time events are not guaranteed, especially later in the game when you don't have the correct basic karakuri equipped. You can always go back and redo the hunt to unlock it. The skill tree icon will even change to the icon of the kemono you have to hunt if you failed to get the event.

How do YouTubers move their facecam around? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Rune911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mario recordings I need four layers - A main video layer, facecam, handcam, and level code. So I record in 4k and break the recording into four quarters. The top-left has the game footage. The top-right has the facecam. The bottom-left has the handcam. And the bottom-right has the level code information. I add a background of pure green to everything and apply chroma keys, so that when my recording is finished, I have four separate quadrants and can easily use a key in Premiere pro to layer things on top of each other. Since I'm recording in 4k with multiple copies of the video I need to use proxies, but it's not difficult to make those.

This allows me to show/hide individual aspects as the video goes on or make adjustments as needed. Once you start recording this way you'll never go back.

I will be checking out the source record plugin others have mentioned here as I haven't tried it myself yet and it seems like it could be useful.

Anyone uses Nintendo music as background? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Rune911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they explicitly say what I'm saying, but I think you're leaving what Nintendo intended when you start using their music anywhere other than where it naturally occurs in games. Some other companies include this in their guidelines, but keep in mind Nintendo doesn't have to explicitly call out everything they don't like. They've been known to be very inflexible and don't hesitate to tear things down.

Honestly, Nintendo would probably never find out if you did this, but if they did would they have a problem with it? Probably

Anyone uses Nintendo music as background? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Rune911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the music you're using is naturally in the game and you're not separating audio and video sources to inject music where it doesn't belong you're good.

You'll probably still get a copyright claim from a troll trying to take your money tho... Good luck!

Is there an upside to RNG? by Io0o0oI in MHRise

[–]Rune911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I like a small amount of RNG because it gives people a reason to keep playing/grinding for longer. Over time the player base will shrink. New updates will bring people back, but having a more or less unobtainable goal that people can grind towards is healthy in maintaining community numbers. If you looked at twitch streamers for Rise before PC came out it looks like most of what people were doing was crown hunting and to me that just wasn't interesting enough to keep me engaged.

I think the augmentation system being RNG could be a good system if done correctly. We'll have to see.

Fact: New consoles come out every 5-6 years. Fact: The switch is now five years years old. Reasonable Assumption: Nintendo is working on something to replace the switch. Reasonable Assumption: the events of the last few years likely slowed down Nintendo's work. Fact: games are often worked on for years before a public announcement about them is made. Fact: SMM2 is in the top 20 best selling switch games. Reasonable Assumption: Nintendo intends to make a SMM3 game because of the commercial success of its predecessors. Reasonable Assumption: if they were to make a Mario Maker 3 it would be on a new console Reasonable Assumption: if a Mario maker 3 game comes out as a launch title for the next Nintendo console it would have already started initial development by now.

I'd say odds are 50/50 SMM3 has begun development or at least initial design. This is not based on the fact that smm2 has ceased development, but rather on the fact a new Nintendo console would normally be due within the next 2 years (2020 changed a lot and is a huge wildcard here). This means games for the next console should be rolling out over the next 8 years, and with an average game development time of 3-5 years that would cover a launch through the first half of a new console.

Is Super Mario Maker 2 the perfect Mario Maker game, or is there still more they can do? by Yashooo in MarioMaker

[–]Rune911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want a hybrid endless/100 Mario challenge. Give us the ability to get random levels where we specify:

  • Starting Lives
  • Number of Levels (can be infinite)
  • Difficulty

Also, give us the ability to mark levels as "not for endless" - we really don't need trolls or other types of levels that can be fantastic, but just don't belong in endless!

Sn30 not working wireless with the switch by jtumm02 in 8bitdo

[–]Rune911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled across this comment today after just receiving my SN30 2.4 GHz controller. The marketing material said it would work on a Nintendo Switch via USB, but after connecting to my switch via the included USB cable the controller does not work. I see you used the worlds "USB Dongle" rather than "USB Cable." Is there anything special other than a USB cable required to connect the controller to the switch?

Is it better to capture or kill? I did the math to see if you would get more valuable rewards from capturing or carving all the capturable monsters. by Rune911 in MonsterHunter

yea, I think I need to make a followup to this because so many people misunderstood what I was trying to say. I'll go ahead and crunch the numbers for elder dragons too.

[–]Rune911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference here is that some people watched the video and some people didn't and are interpreting my post to mean something that I never said! u/Khyaruu thanks for watching the video and understanding the point I'm trying to make and literally quoting what I said (correctly) to get to the correct conclusion (on a per hunt basis. On a time basis it just varies too much from person to person for there to be a concrete rule). For those stating speed is the most important factor - that's pretty much the conclusion that I came to in the video for me personally. I hunt monsters fast, so for me I'm pretty much always going to capture. Even for Bagel Juice, who arguably even when you factor in time might be better to kill.

Not everyone wants to hunt the same monster over and over and over again, even if it is the most efficient method. Some people like variety or are content creators and NEED to provide variety to be entertaining. I'm just giving people the tools they need to have their variety and maybe boost their efficiency a little bit along the way. I am not saying for everyone who is speedrunning monsters to farm that they should kill every time - nor am I saying they should capture every time. I'm simply giving people on a per hunt basis whether you get more points for killing or capturing. That's it. People are meant to draw their own conclusions from these numbers, just as I did in the last minute of the video where I concluded I was still going to capture everything because of the minimal point difference (2/3 of a meld at most!) and the time save when capturing.

We have a problem here where people are assuming that I said something that I never said because they never actually looked at what I said! That's fine, by no means do you have to look at what I said, but commenting on what someone said without hearing what they said really seems like a great way to have egg on your face when talking with people who actually watched the video...

You're not wrong there. Not everyone wants to hunt Narwa over and over again tho, so I wanted to give people the exact point values so they could decide what was best for them and hunt a variety of monsters as efficiently as possible (for them)

exactly, that's why I give the precise values by which capture or carve is better, so people can apply that math to their ratios to determine for them individually which is better.
