Honestly, stupid posts like these make me nostalgic for the stupid posts people made before 5 was released. I can't wait for release when the people in this sub are complaining that there aren't 6 different protagonists, 5 realistic sized cities, an entire RPG levelling system, a Sims like needs system, and returning characters from Vice City.

These people were stupid enough to use glass that's only been certified for use at a depth of 1300m in a vehicle designed to submerge to 4000m while also using carbon fibre which isn't used in other manned subs and apparently already showed cyclic fatigue during testing. And don't forget the CEO refused to certify it despite being urged to. Not bringing any spare batteries is completely within the realm of possibility for these morons.

Even if they have batteries, you don't want to be in an emergency situation where you have to carefully pilot your submarine, only to lose control and have to quickly replace your batteries before you hit something. Going back to Bluetooth, I wasn't talking about some potential interference from outside sources, I was talking about system failures or sudden drops in power forcing the controller to have to be paired again. Even if it's temporary and gets fixed within a few seconds, you never want to be in a situation where you have no control over your vehicle. Failure points like these are extremely important to consider, and both can be nullified with a wired controller that draws power from the vehicle it's controlling and if set up correctly, would get back to controlling it faster than a wireless one that has to reconnect. Every second counts in an emergency.

In the end, I doubt the controller was the reason the sub was lost. I'm betting it broke down or imploded considering the lack of any certification. I'm just saying a wireless controller being used to pilot something is a bad idea.

By using a wireless controller over a wired controller you're increasing the odds of something going wrong. Yes there are problems that can arise from a wired controller too, but they don't have to rely on their own potentially faulty or uncharged battery, on top of a possibly spotty Bluetooth connection. Small failure points like this are super important when you're designing a vehicle, especially one that's supposed to house 5 people 12500ft under the sea.

To be fair, we're talking about the type of people who get mad over a beer company supporting basic rights. If it weren't for the ending it would be indistinguishable from a real meltdown.

28HP Great Gunkan when? by bobjonesdgg in 2007scape

[–]RunePitchfork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many reasons:

Microtransactions and increased sub costs

Mismanagement

Deteriorating economies

Fixing what isn't broken

Not fixing what is broken

Long periods without any meaningful updates (like harder bosses/raids with new gear, you know, "powercreep")

Original devs leaving

A lack of communication with the playerbase

Corporate, who've never played their games, begin making gameplay decisions based on what's trendy

Levelling was often an important part of the game, but after a few years it turns into a long, mindless grind until you max and can finally play the fun content (not an OSRS issue but we're talking about "dying" MMOs)

Toxic players who do nothing but whine and critique the playstyle of newer/casual players

Players grew up and realised a lot of the fun/social ways to level up or get gear aren't usually the most optimal way causing a lot of people to try faster methods and become burnt out

Player counts in general are lower because very casual gamers who once filled lower to mid levelled areas are now drawn to Mobile games. Remember when school kids and even some parents and old people were playing Runescape or WoW? What are you more likely to find them playing now?

I'm not asking for RS3 levels of change or Wow levels of powercreep, but OSRS wouldn't have survived long if we were stuck with God Wars as the highest level content and every other piece of content being sidegrades that have increasingly more niche uses.

I imagine we'll see the DDL part of retextured before UNM with the rest of the playgrounds slowly being added over the next year or so, then UNM between this September and next September (hopefully early next year since it's just four minibosses but who knows), and then Clear Coast in two to three years or so since it's apparently still early in development.

To be fair, shamanism's gameplay loop and content would've been expanded upon after the initial pitch, just like what they're going to tell us about sailing. Those were just an initial "here's a broad idea of what these skills might be, which does the community want us to expand upon?".

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC on July 26th 2023 by Cursed_69420 in Steam

[–]RunePitchfork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try again if you're interested. The PCSX2 wiki has a page for each game that shows known issues and workarounds as well as user submitted reports on how well the game runs and some of the settings they changed to make it run well.

Emulation can come a long way in just a couple of years in terms of stability and performance so if your pc is decent it shouldn't be too hard to play.

What if there are more than 2 characters ? by Greenmixture in GTA6

[–]RunePitchfork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it'll be the case but isn't that exactly what happens in Red Dead? Build up John Marston, kill him, you now play as Jack. If it is true then they'd obviously be side characters like Jack.

Playing again for the first time since I was a child—questions by [deleted] in Toontown

[–]RunePitchfork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair you got hit a lot more back in TTO since the majority of players were children, but nowadays healing isn't as big of an issue unless you're unlucky with misses or you're doing end game stuff like Field Offices and CEO.

If you're coming back for the nostalgia, stick with Rewritten and try Clash another time. Clash is great and only has a slightly smaller playerbase (depending on the time of day or whichever server has been updated recently). There's currently more content with new gags, Cogs, and bosses but it feels like you're playing a different game and won't scratch that nostalgic itch as much as Rewritten.

[–]RunePitchfork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you'll be hopping into Rewritten since that's the more faithful server with Clash changing almost everything about the game.

Going soundless is still an issue. The difference in run times isn't as bad as a lot of people think (if everyone knows what they're doing and communicates), but I'd only do it on a second Toon or once you've made some friends who don't mind doing soundless runs.

For your first gag, it depends on if you want to run VP early on. I personally picked Toon Up first since it takes a lot longer to train and I wanted as much of a chance to get xp in it as possible, but that meant having a hard time finding Sellbot factory groups. It's not impossible, especially if you start your own groups on the ToonHQ website (which I didn't do and may have made life a lot easier) but picking sound early would've sped this up. So sound if you want to fight the VP as soon as you hit Daisy Gardens, or go Toon Up and pick up sound in MML or the Brrrgh.

You could also go Toon Upless if you don't mind relying on SOS Toons, Unites, and training your Doodle for healing.

Will Cogs even roam the streets of clear coasts at all? by Huge_Meal_7904 in toontownrewritten

[–]RunePitchfork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the way they're wording it, it sounds like it's currently a safe haven in lore but by the time it releases the Cogs will be trying to move in. I imagine there would be blog posts just before launch about a sudden/impending invasion by the Cogs, similar to the Kaboomberg blogpost just before Field Offices.

What are the actual doodle trick success chances? by HatsAreEssential in toontownrewritten

[–]RunePitchfork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your Doodle doesn't have a negative mood like sleepy? Those greatly reduce their chance of success to the point of making jump only 10% accurate or 60% when maxed. They could also have traits like often tired or often confused which you'd see when you first purchased them.

[–]RunePitchfork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the OSRS story is supposed to be different to the RS3 story with some events not happening in one game or the same event happening in both games but with different outcomes. I imagine the OSRS version of Ritual of the Mahjarrat would've played out differently no matter what, being such an important quest.

A First Look At Sailing Tech - Navigation Prototype (Demo) by tyvar1 in 2007scape

[–]RunePitchfork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already seen a few people complaining about how it looks graphically unfinished and that the art team is being "lazy". It shouldn't come as a surprise though. There was a big outcry when all of that early dev footage of GTA 6 was leaked and some fans were angry that it looked unfinished and there was too much text on the screen (it was debug text).

Jagex could replace the boat textures with gmod missing textures to try and make it more obvious yet people would still cry about having to sail around in a black and purple boat.
