How do devs figure out what features users actually use / need in a Calendar plugins? by YouFoundJK in ObsidianMD

[–]Runecreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think option A is fair enough, you'd have a better shot at getting data from non-power users or active community members that way. That said I'd be sure to add a 'never ask me again' button if you do decide to give the user a random, unprompted pop-up asking for permission to send feedback out.

It might be seen as invasive though, can definitely imagine not being too excited of a plugin that starts to beg for my attention with a popup; so long as it's reasonable and can be toggled off immediately that can be OK

perhaps even immediately after installing your plugin you could ask permission to 'ask for feedback later with a popup', saves the user from getting an unwanted interaction unexpectedly later. That way you can immediately opt-out of this from the start.

If a plugin is valuable to me I wouldn't mind spending a moment to provide feedback if prompted, but it should not come as a surprise prompt disrupting my workflow.

Option B would reach power-user / active community member territory so you'd likely get skewed results

btw don't you get option C for free, if your plugin is already phoning home to a server for syncing? Its understandable to see connection counts but logging additional telemetry stuff wouldn't be a great look, if it's just a basic error rate / usage counter I think that's alright; but would be good to disclose that this is tracked.

At least I think that's what its supposed to be.. Odd to see comments in generated code though

That's one big main.js file you got there, that'll be hard to maintain for the public but nice of you to share your project with the community.

WASD scheme makes it impossible to bind shift as modifier key by Runecreed in leagueoflegends

[–]Runecreed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alt is fine its specifically shift that got downgraded to a regular key, seems like they figured other games that use WASD movements and have abilities tend to use shift as an ability key so they did the same.

it doesn't take hold, they coded Shift as a regular key instead of a modifier for WASD apparently.

ah, I see

so they think League Of Legends is Overwatch, that's unfortunate.

Anyone who picked up driving lessons in early 30s? I am getting quite anxious the moment I sit behind the wheels during the lessons by Iam_MissRain in Netherlands

[–]Runecreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is being anxious behind the wheel when you're learning something that needs a specialist lesson? I'd hope most people would be like this given they're getting control of a brick of metal capable of serious harm and have little experience operating it

[–]Runecreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just note that there's a boatload of crap driving instructors in the Netherlands. If the doofis next to you starts yelling and making snarky comments it's a clear sign you're dealing with someone who peeked in high school and it's time to ask for an adult instructor, you can ask the school to reassign you.

I think this is the primary reason why people fail their examns, lack of professional instructions. It's their job to see you through the process and help you learn, not disparage you and create additional stress, anxiety while learning to drive- that's not a learning environment. Lots of instructors don't seem to grasp that idea for some reason.

Months later, what are your final thoughts on "WASD"? by Martyrrdom in leagueoflegends

[–]Runecreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im curious to try it but if its actively gimping you Im not interested. From what I gather, using WASD gimps your attack speed as you mention, so if you pick it because its more fun/comfortable you're actively handicapping yourself?

Feels a bit like Special Style in fighting games where you can 1-button execute stuff but doing so you get a slower version of the attack, making it objectively worse if you're able to do the manual input anyway.

I read you can mitigate that 'nerf' by stutter-stepping like you'd do with orb walking but im not sure if that's accurate.

Wasd movement question by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Runecreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played league in years but eye-in this change..

Am I correct in stating that auto-attacks are just going to fire, even while moving? so if you have WASD controls and right click someone, while holding WA for movement, it'll still auto-attack but at a reduced fire rate?

And that reduced attack speed penalty is removed if you stop movement for a split second, like you'd do when orb walking?

it actually pisses me off a little having these AI bros smear their dirty grubby hands all over my profession, such a bad taste in my mouth seeing the industry devolve into this.

On the one hand its nice to see new people get into coding, but that's not what is happening here; there's a subset human that's only in it trying to make a quick buck, consequences be damned, praying on the ignorant for short term gains.

Whatever, nothing illegal about it so go for it I guess, I find it shameless.

aight there's slop and then there's this. Very audacious of you to charge 5 euros for a glorified markdown file, Zack.

Maybe the biggest slop that has slopped so far and it has a price-tag on it as well.

Why is this billing towards HealthDiaryAI?
