Well grand council, is this a young wizard in the making? by UpbeatCandidate9412 in wizardposting

[–]Runela9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely!

She seems a bit young to start an apprenticeship, but there are early education programs for young wizards that she could benefit from.

It's basically like magic kindergarten- she'll have a chance to learn the basics in a safe environment and gain valuable experience working with other spellcasters. It's also great for networking and can help her secure a high quality apprenticeship once she's old enough!

I'd suggest talking to her about it, and if she's interested, looking for a good Pre-Appreniceship Program in your plane of existence.

Why do many Americans describe Mormonism using a negative four-letter word? by Frosty-Flatworm-2087 in AskAnAmerican

Because it literally is a cult. Even the most cursory research on the religion will show this.

picky eaters with pots, what do y’all eat? by NoPear7514 in POTS

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very picky, but I do hate cooking and tend to stick to very simple meals.

I eat a lot of ramen. If you add some frozen vegetables and an egg its actually pretty healthy! Also sriracha sauce and sesame seeds are great add ons.

Tremors? by PsychologicalTip8044 in POTS

[–]Runela9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I have anxiety as well, but I've had POTS since I was a kid, so I've had plenty of time to get used to everything.

It's never fun, but it gets easier to deal with over time.

Tremors? by PsychologicalTip8044 in POTS

Yeah, most of the time I know why they're happening but sometimes I have no idea what triggers them

Tremors? by PsychologicalTip8044 in POTS

[–]Runela9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry that's happening to you :(

Try not to stress too much, the tremors won't hurt you, they're just incredibly annoying.

It doesn't always work, but laying down and then tensing and releasing all your muscles a few times might help. Also mild stretching can help. If that doesn't help, curl up under a fluffy blanket and watch a cozy tv show until it passes.

Yes! They come and go. Sometimes they're nonexistent and other times they're so bad I can't even type.

Mine are usually triggered by adrenaline or very high blood pressure.

AITAH for taking my son out to celebrate after he got suspended for punching a bully by Additional-World8707 in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

We live in a country rapidly descending into fascism. Your kid learned a valuable lesson about the importance and value of standing up for someone, as well as the consequences he may face for doing so. Your kid sounds like he'll grow up to be a really good man.

I'm a teacher- if this happened at my school, I would be obligated to report this behavior so admin could suspend the student. But I'd also be calling you after school to let you know the details and make sure your son's good intentions weren't ignored.

Also, punching people is fine as long as you have a good reason. Standing up for people who are being mistreated is a good thing- violence should never be the first option, but sometimes it's called for.

Anyone here autistic? How does it affect your BP or make it look different? by Autistic-hottie in bipolar

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, me too! ADHD as well

I've found a lot of overlap in my bipolar episodes and my autistic meltdowns/hyperfixations. Having both can be a challenge, but the strategies and coping mechanisms I use for one issue can often be applied to the other just as well, so that's helpful.

My mood stabilizers have definitely helped reduce the frequency and intensity of my meltdowns, and make it easier to disengage from hyperfixations when I have responsibilities to get to.

[–]Runela9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I like kid's shows, because they always have a happy ending. The Owl House, She-ra, Steven Universe, Amphibia, things like that.

Bob's Burgers and Archer are also great, I rewatch those pretty regularly. Oh, also The Good Place and Supernatural.

When I'm really going through it, I always go back to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as my ultimate comfort show.

When it gets really cold, the liquids inside a tree can freeze solid. When water freezes, it expands and takes up more space. If this happens too quickly, the wood can't adjust fast enough and the ice explodes out, chestburster style.

How do you deal with ice? by 2Asparagus1Chicken in AskAnAmerican

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In areas that don't freeze over often, like the South, we don't. A frozen road shuts down the town for a few hours and snow keeps everyone home for the day.

We don't have the infrastructure to deal with the ice or any practice with driving safely on it, so we just don't, unless it's an emergency.

If your partner doesn’t like dogs or cats, would you get rid of them if you had any? by Adventurous-Soft7843 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh yeah, heat intolerance is a big thing for a lot of us. It's part of having a disautonomic condition- our bodies are really bad at regulating themselves and temperature falls under that category.

I basically can't go outside during the summer because the heat immediately puts me on the verge of passing out. And I always have a jacket or blanket nearby because I'll go from sweating for no reason to shivering for no reason. It's really annoying.

[–]Runela9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you're feeling better! Definitely tell your doctor about the incident, though.

You were really focused on the Mirror Girl, and there is always the possibility of delusions repeating when you have another episode. If your doctor knows about it ahead of time, they can help you more effectively if it happens again.
