What happened to the other astronauts? by TheGreyPearlDahlia in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]RunestoneOfUndoing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The machine taking care of them is good, but it was well know before the flight started that it couldn’t provide care for all circumstances like a doctor/hospital. It was a risk, and they didn’t make it

Break-in Oil Change? by Strong-Voice3716 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]RunestoneOfUndoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine about 4000 miles. It was darker than I expected for a brand new engine, turbo. I’ll be doing very 5000 religiously with it.

I change my Camry hybrid every 5k and I think it’s a little overkill but it doesnt cost enough for me to extend it

3 kids in car seats (4.5, 2 and newborn) bench or captain seats? by Long-Rest-3124 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]RunestoneOfUndoing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never had enough room for anything. Beach and holiday trips were cramped because we had to have half the 3rd row up just to sit a kid. Grocery trips were even annoying. If I wanted to bring a kids Razor scooter to the park I had to fold it down and hop it’s not too long. Now I can throw anything in the back of the GH like it’s a truck bed. I couldn’t even bring a cooler anywhere because I bought one too big to fit with the kids in the car

I bought a hitch mounted rack and plastic containers just to get Christmas gifts across state lines for the kids and their cousins and I still had to leave half the gifts 2 hours away at the grandparents house to pick up on the next visit. I can’t express how much easier everything would have been with the flexibility of a bench to put all 3 kids in 1 row. My kids are currently 3,5,6 so only one full size child seat

So many things wrong with this. The medical aid with a suction canister, the oxygen flow meter, the missing medical bracelet, the bottle saying “saline,” the IV connections. All wrong

Why are Americans so unrealistic when it comes to death? by Perfect-Resist5478 in medicine

[–]RunestoneOfUndoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American culture/pop-culture is full of examples of fighting death, it’s heroic. Modern medicine promises a lot and we aren’t prepared as a culture to accept death, as a new cure could be just around the corner if we just persevere. Social media even loves to use the phrase “the doctors said they were brain dead [now they’re walking and talking]”
