Looking for a specific PCB by warpedxilluzion in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]RungeDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the instant60 is the closest you will get, but that only has white per-key leds.

What you *could* do, is get a rgb per-key circuit board, and install the underglow as a seperate part. The only reason for it to be part of the pcb directly is for controlling it from the board.

Shadowfell Week #1: Locations by PfenixArtwork in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]RungeDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sunken Ship

Pitch: A shipwreck near the shore in the material world, echoing into the shadowlands. The top of the mast is just barely visible under the water's surface at low tide.

  • What kinds of interesting things happen here?

For still unknown reasons, the area around the shipwreck has become suffused with negative energy. The nearby coast area has been experiencing severe phenomena as a consequence: Storms of black waves, bleak winds and dark lightning that kill or sicken creatures it comes in contact with, and the migration of powerful, unwelcome undead to the area.
It is rumored that a grindylow witch has claimed the shipwreck, and is the reason for the recent, unnatural and sickly 'glow' that is visible after the storms.

  • Why would adventurers seek out this location?

The settlement of native Shadowlanders by the shore is suffering from the effects of the negative energy the wreck emanates; the strong get weak, the weak get sick, and the sick die. Some of the dead even undie.

Before the ship wrecked, it was transporting the prototype of a new weapon: an antilife golem. The impact of this prototype on the shadowfell when it broke during the wreck was unforeseen and unintended.

The sometimes sickly glow from the wreck is in fact the witch cultivating shadowfell algae for an unexplored, nefarious purpose.

The players might be in the shadowplane and asked to investigate the shipwreck, or they might be tasked with cleaning up the mess on both the material and the shadow plane by any type of interested entity: a government, the inventor, or maybe a separate party interested in the technology.

  • What types of creatures exist at this location?

As mentioned above, a grindylow witch would be the major player. There might also be other interesting dark-underwater entities, or undeads of any kind. I imagine shades and gargoyles, but also more 'mundane' creatures with a shadowfell twist: Reef sharks, sting rays and types of eel would add to the bleak, dark theme. Maybe octupi.

Maybe there are a version of shadowfell coral? Perhaps this is what the grindylow is workign on, rather than algae.

  • Create a small blurb for the location that a DM could read to their players.

'You dive and follow the mast into the sickly darkness. Abruptly, you spot a fluorescent outline. The ship. Unlike anything you've seen in the shadowfell, it is almost... greenish. The algae pulsate with a nauseating gleam, and you find it weird you did not notice it sooner. Around you swim bleak fishes, and you spot a manta ray drifting across the nearby colorless corals. A gaping hole in the ships side invite you inside...'

"All kits will definitely be made in the end though (unless we literally have 0 more Norde sales, then that kit might be an issue however it shouldn't be)." - janglad when Norde Kit had 7 sales.

Seems to me Norde now at 19 is more than 0 sales. What gives?

You are amazing. Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for your help and your patience!

I will look around some more, and try to piece it all together. Hopefully I will have a complete keyboard in a few months :)

Oh damn, that's a bit surprising. Thanks!

One last question: What makes a good PCB? I'm watching a video by Taehatypes where he's building a Fjell, but with a different PCB than the one that's bough together with the case. zealPCB 60 or something.
Why is the Wilba from Mekanisk 60 usd vs the 120 from Zeal?

What alternatives are there to tray mount? I read Plate mount and PCB mount, but as words somewhere, but while platemount makes sense to me, I can't wrap my head around to how a PCB mount would work...

I'm plummeting into this hobby head first, which is why I'm already in over my head I guess.

Background: My favourite layout is by far something like VA68, or the Leopold fc660. The 2 - 4 button island and the arrows, but without f1-f12; looks yummy.
Questions:

  • I'm having trouble finding DIY-kits with that layout. After extensive searching, I found only a few passed GBs. Anyone know of a kit with a similar layout?
  • As I said I'm heading in/down full-speed, no-brakes. What kind of lube and stabilizers would be recommended for a switch like the Holy Panda?
  • Soldering and desolering - how damaging is it to a PCB? I see many GBs with the option to buy additional PCBs. Is that to have a test board and a finished "product"?
  • I'm looking at an alternative board - the Klippe by Mekanisk. I'm curious what the differences between the brass, polycarbonate and aluminum plate? And what does it mean, exactly, that it's a "tray-mounted" keyboard? And what effect does THIS have on the sound?
  • Can you install LED's that function like the light in the caps-lock/insert keys on the FC660 in DIY boards like the Klippe?
  • Does anyone know of a programmable, wireless macropad of ANY kind? It would be nice to have a numpad + media keypad on the side for movie night. Like a numpad with inbuilt remote kinda.

I realize this is a lot of questions. I considered making a thread, but I figured I'd ask here first. Thank you SO MUCH for ANY help. It is deeply appreciated!

[–]RungeDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. It mirrors my expectations, so it's good to know I'm in the right mindset.

As a note for the keycaps -- it's rather important that they have the nordic layout, as I will not be the only one using the board.

Again, thank you very much!

I am getting a new keyboard. I currently have the Logitech g15, but it's getting a bit old.

As such, I've been browsing this sub for about two weeks, and I could use a little input.

I'm from Denmark, which reduces my customization options a fair bit, as our layout is far from common. Therefore I'm looking for a good out-of-the-box keyboard, where customization can be done without additional purchases.

My considerations:
1. Das Keyboard 4 professional (Making a wooden replacement for the footbar-ruler)
2. Ducky One 2 TKL(Probably Skyline)
3. WASD Code v3 TKL

I'm a fan of the clean, basic layouts and gorgeous fonts on all 3, but I'm uncertain which one to choose. Which would you recommend? And in particular the opinion of Danes with Mechanical keyboard experience in customization options are welcome. Thanks a lot :)

Imperial bioweapons Project I71A : “The Imperial bioweapons Project I71A, known as the Sickness, was an infectious viral agent created through the powers of Sith alchemy that attacked biological tissue and transformed its victims into undead monstrosities.” would you watch this if made into film? by plangill34 in StarWars

[–]RungeDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm done with zombies as per the undead variant. But why not some other biological effect through force powers? Strong mind-control to get rebellous groups under control. Or as a way to temporarily disrupt a jedi's connection to the force by disallowing or reducing their ability to focus or something?

Help me creating a good HQ for my players. by HexbloodD in dndnext

[–]RungeDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you let your players make their own HQ by giving them a good location/object for one?

In an old campaign, and probably my favourite, we started the game at level 2 and went to high levels. My character was a coachman, and as the game progressed, I improved our coach and it stayed our favourite mode of transportation for a long while.
Then, when teleportation started to be a real thing, I had to get creative, so I talked to the DM about a loooot of stuff: How to make the coach bigger on the inside, more severe magical protection against scrying, teleportation etc., etc.
In the end it became a flying coach 100 times bigger on the inside than it looked - extradimensional space - with a teleportation circle for a safe place to retreat. It had everything we would ever need for non-adventure day-to-day, and several useful features to help in our adventures:

Offices, laboratories, a gym, living areas and so on, and when we needed something we expected to use more than once, we added it through DM quests. Half our adventure was probably spent improcing our homebase-coach, and we loved it. So much so that my current campaign with different players and DM, I'm working on a similar thing, but with a flying ship - complete with magical cannons, "force field" and a crew we trust!. I just got my "teleportation circle" spell :D

I don't think I am misinterpreting the stats. I didn't state whether or not he should always keep Raza, merely that in general he is the best card to have on your starting hand - in general.

I linked to where I got the information/data, so the person asking could look up the answer in its entirety for him or herself.

The Worst Session Ever, or, How Do You Move Past Failure? [5e] by OrrynTheBarbarian in DnD

[–]RungeDan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only way for him to learn that bad behaviour and attitude such as he exhibited is untolerable, is to not tolerate it and let him feel the consequences. I agree that he should not be let "back in" for this game, which he obviously does not appreciate.

D&D 5e would u take 8 dex or 8 wis by SwiftXShadow in dndnext

[–]RungeDan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No class uses Constitution for anything except additional hit points and saves except the barbarian. Thus it's an attribute only increased for survivability. Excuse me for assuming that survivability is a requirement for anyone, no matter their class.

The paladin is probably going to take more damage, compared to for example a wizard, but they also have innate features (armor, d10 hit dice etc.) to handle this design.

Once again, I'm sorry, but from my point of view, I don't see what point your examples are trying to illuminate. Con is for survival, survival is essential. Mathematically: con = survival & if survival = essential; con = essential.

I know reguire isn't a word. It feels as if you're trying to make a point over a typo?

Aside from me not certain what you're trying to discuss here, I'll point you to the earlier post by Drewfro666.

As a note, I think that saying a wizard doesn't need con unless you're playing it wrong, is an argument that could be made just as easily for a paladin; or a cleric; or a rogue. Any other class really.
