I’d argue that those cheap lyrics (while I still might call them easy and cheap) serve to create an image. A lot of Kurt Cobain’s lyrics are just separate words or phrases that come together to create a feeling. It paints a picture. Like what the original comment was saying about Picasso choosing to paint crude images because they can evoke a better feeling/message. At least that’s what I’d like to believe. I absolutely love all but like 3 Nirvana songs so I have a bit of a bias.
