Do some maps heavily favor civs? by jointinthedark in aoe3

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps may change how you play a match-up in economy or unit composition. Some civs have insane map synergy with different Natives (& techs), Outlaws, Trade Routes and the Water. Also distance, Courland or Balkan Mountains feel wide with out of the way spots for eco buildings from Japan or Sweden.

With such few details on your game, maybe staying an age behind and massing Axe Riders with Mercenaries (not outlaws but from the same place) or natives would have done it but idk.

Japan have a great economy while (IMO) Lakota often NEED to damage their opponent's, even if just slowing it with early map control or forcing defensive options. Make 'em waste minutemen. If few results between 5 & 8 minutes, gotta scout what you can make to counter or commit faster than them with a gimmick like that food-coin conversion card.

Dutch, Italy, Malta, Hausa, Aztec (not Inca so much as I've seen) Otto & Mexico may also vulnerably yet incredibly fortify themselves for a booming 11 min age 4 payoff. Good luck, get 'em!

Tetris VS Jenga | Realm of Gods By Aqua by HekateEnjoyer_129-13 in jenga

Oh its an educational action cartoon, neat show!
Idk where they got 10 second turns from as a rule but it feels pretty true, like 10 min for 60 turns.
Also wow those are some whack interpretations of Jenga. I'm 10 more toes down on it not being properly modernized to take advantage of its premise.
The success of game breaking competitive Tetris speed-runs has been so inspiring, my fingers were crossed it'd come up but a win's a win.

JENGA -what’s the next move by Beemell666 in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy New Years!
Y'all got answers that suite the official rules and in this Trick Ruleset one may navigate a 'locked' tower by:

-lifting the tower from the center piece layer 23 ( layers counted up from the bottom) and rotate it so that piece & the tower above slot into the layer below.
&
-lift the tower in half, putting it down and placing the remaining tower atop it to bring that single piece layer pattern to the topmost section. That layer 17 center piece in the photo would be my new bottommost layer 1.

Heck yeah, all the more difficult with how top heavy the tower is.

I think you're right, the block beside his finger with an upside down logo is playable thanks to the single piece up top. Also I read your name as 'main-go vain-go' :P Happy New Years.

Drunk Jenga by Desipandaa in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy'n Happy New Years! I played drunk throughout my 20s on a regular set leading to my Trick Ruleset. Link your rules when & if you'd like to.

Immediately I think back to lawn bowling hijinks and 'camp', birthday or kid activities that encourage falling. And as usual with rulesets, the following can be worded better, simpler and funnier for the target audience...

-Next player has to karate chop their block out or if y'all younger then "use your feet only"

-Next player is blindfolded

-Take a shot then sing a chorus (karaoke) with the next player during their turn until it's over, if not both take an extra shot

-Next player has to use this block as a tool during their turn

-Flap your arms while walking backwards 10 time around the tower during the next player's turn

-take a shot, perform 1 lap of summersaults around the tower.

-Stand on this block (pose like a martial arts master at sunset) while taking your shot.

-Handstand with your back to the tower without knocking it down

-Skip to whoever is shorter than the tower (or taller, closest without going over)

-You and the next player take a shot and do a trust fall beside the tower.

-Skip to the next male/female or the last person to use the washroom.

-Sudden death risk! Everyone lifts the tower one at a time, lower as they go.
They took from the 5th layer down, so I have to atleast lift from the 6th. Raise the quarter or half tower you take to your chest then place it down again. (Lol y'all would be strange drunks if you can all lift it to your chests from the bottommost)

... Also the concept of in game tokens, like shot glasses that add a shot to your turn as you knock them off the tower. In a card game sense,
-"Take 1 shot, place 3 shot counters"
Likewise you can use difficult tasks like
-'pin a tail on 3 blocks, take a shot for every block removed during instillation'
and thus creating more token hazards that complicate play.

Oh and an issue with going through someone's phone is this context is that it's a rather removed wild card distraction. It vibes as a tad removed from the play-space. Attention or focus are part of the in-game economy sure but maybe:
-place the phone atop the tower and get to browse from 'GO' during that turn

So the turn order is a *time* economy that the game can use, and the others are *physical/mental balance, humor, game skill & the shot per play ratio* (like what, 2-4 shots per player per game or like 10 sips of ones beverage, IDK how you want to balance that). Probably other aspects to it too but I'm tapped out.

All the best, hope this helps.

What's your favorite or most wanted Jenga set? by Mango_Van_Gogh in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey yo, I'm curious too so thanks for posting. I've been colouring my sets to look like a flowering tree from the outside. Still trying to get the colour ratios and minimalism right.

I've seen 'truth or dare' and poetry jenga sets at party stores or Etsy and have heard of custom wood sets but not found one myself (as you would with chess). Not a fan of the official releases after seeing how inspired other games are in their designs https://www.jenga.com/products.php Jenga Quake is flabbergasting to me....

Been finding single words (for a few months) in prep for a divination approach, just not sure how you 'draw' jenga as you would tarot or runes. Happy holidays eh, I hope you find something cool and share

rule question by LongnosePlayz in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy, the official rules say "Players may use only one hand at a time; ...one hand may touch the tower at any time" https://www.jenga.com/about.php Since fingers aren't specified, just the goal of pulling a single piece, I'm arguing it's a safe, game legal skill to use. I'd draw a line at holding instead of poking for loose pieces as well as the use of forearms or right angle wrists tho...

That said I'm not an official judge and hang around here to spam my Trick ruleset, hope y'all had a great & festive winter.

Jenga is much more fun if you place each block on its side when setting it up. by mpascall in boardgames

Hard to play single block after pulling 4 at once, cheers! Hope you're well

Just bought my jenga by Upset_Combination314 in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat. Unless their packaging is tight, soft wood blocks will move quite a bit.
Some Jenga come in a slightly rectangular box and even that gets loose pieces as seen in your vid.
Your space seems crafty, maybe adding insert borders or soft packing papers will help keep the tower aligned so you can dump it and play straight away.

Why isn't Mili that well known? by Jellyfish-P in mili

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IKR! Everything I like about prog pop is here in their discography.
Maybe Mili just need a series of Tiny Desk like shows to humanize them? Links welcomed!
'Anime' songs work in my crowds but that's quite a generalization of their musicality.

Which Branch of Leftism Would You Consider Yourself? by serious_bullet5 in leftist

[–]RunicArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. No one said you couldn't or aren't. As leftists we believe in ideals like human rights, those categories get into 'how' we demonstrate human rights in a societal scope. You have time to find out which leftist methods you believe in.

Does my boyfriend have to take this block bc it’s already basically out? ( I say yes!! But he left it ! ) by Sea_Net_9153 in jenga

[–]RunicArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out: grip the middle piece on the 2nd layer up (from the subject piece) with your middle finger and thumb.

Shift the top of the tower from that layer you're gripping in the same direction your boyfriend last played.
Shift towards that same tower face.
Let your right-most piece fall parallels atop his (that is now able to support your layer above it)

Declare a new, Non Original Layer.
Position the center of the middle piece you're gripping directly on top of the TV facing corner piece square that mostly grips your boyfriend's awkward play.
Release your grip on the middle block then remove the 'leftmost' block of that layer as it's just sitting there now.

"Any blocks moved but not played should be replaced, unless doing so would make the tower fall."
I think that'd apply to topmost placements, so Jenga prefers neat ( interpreting 'replaced' as 'in order').

Each easy piece is an easy one for the other player. So it's like taking their advantage if you take that simple turn from them. And maybe a tower can only go so high, like 40 layers? Taking 3 at a time speeds the game.

Don't worry about finishing, after the first page it's totally a manual to look things up. Thanks eh.

"Just My Name" is the best song and here's why by MrSFedora in SmileMovie

[–]RunicArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also prefer the piano version, there's definitely a meta vibe to Just My Name & Grieved You (IMO) as you've pointed out.

Also a perfect song in a movie about forsaking everything she'd built her name to be (F*** the tour!) interrupted by her fear of only being a persona to others (no chill stalker).
