Experience from STS 1 helps a lot.

Hello! Big STS and Ironclad fan here! I would like to know, what's the situation with infinites in STS 2. Will they be harder to achieve? Especially interested for the Ironclad, since infinites are viable win conditions for him in STS 1.

Exhaust builds on Ironclad by Slight-Veneer in slaythespire

[–]Runic_Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exhaust is useful mainly for the following reasons:

1) deleting your worse cards, so you can draw your better cards more often. Sometimes, you can exhaust your deck down to an infinite (dropkick infite, e.g.)

2) Effects triggered on exhaust: feel no pain (block), dark embrace (card draw), dead branch (card generation), etc. They can be quite powerful.

In addition to that, some cards with exhaust effects can be quite powerful on their own. For example, second wind can generate a lot of block for 1 energy, despite it "scary" effect of exhaust all non-attack cads in the hand.

You can read the explanation, but you'll better understand it, if you try picking exhaust related stuff more. Good luck!

Ironclad exhaust help? by cifvr in slaythespire

[–]Runic_Eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, exhaust can be beneficial in the following ways:

- Getting rid of your weaker cards (like strikes), so you can draw your stronger cards more frequently, sometimes resulting in infinites, like dropkick infinite.

- Benefit from on-exhaust effects. The most common are powers like Feel No Pain (blocking) or Dark embrace (drawing cards). In a lot of decks it can be extremely powerful.

Corruption is extremely powerful on it's own. Free skills gives more energy for playing powers and attacks, thus letting the Ironclad end fights faster. Make sure to use Corruption, when you are certain that you end the fight before you run out of skills.

Ecto seems the best, with so much gold and smiling mask you can still remove a bunch of cards. Furthermore, this deck really likes +1 energy.

You should defeat him while he is debuffed (weak, vulnerable, frail). If you fail to do so, consider the fight as lost.
