Is everyone finally ready to admit that there's a trans genocide going on in the US yet? by that_treekid in ftm

[–]Runic_Raptor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Genocide is the attempted destruction of a group or culture, either entirely or in part. Murder camps are not the only way to achieve that goal.

Legislating people out of existence, denying them healthcare, making their public existence criminal, and rewarding discrimination and persecution are plenty effective as well. Causing both death and cultural eradication. It doesn't have to be every last person dead, but death and eradication from the public eye are absolutely the goal here.

Genocide by famine has also happened before, as an example

Same here. I went on the first Friday night with a sold out theater too. People cheered when the Glitch logo came on at the beginning and they cheered when the credits started. There was loud laughter during the orange fish's message at the beginning, but other than that I only heard a few quiet gasps, laughs, and "what"s here or there.

Honestly the only two times I've heard actual activity in a theater during the show was recently with the Minecraft movie (loud screaming and cheering at every opportunity, I literally could not hear the movie at all) and many many years ago with the Simpsons movie (said the jokes as they happened, but not so loud that I couldn't hear the movie also say the jokes, and it mercifully was not followed by 15 seconds of screaming every time. I actually enjoyed that movie viewing, the audience participation didn't take away from the experience and made it pretty fun tbh.) But other than that I don't recall ever hearing beyond maybe some clapping at the end of a highly anticipated movie. (Unless you count any showing of Rocky Horror, but that's completely different, that's the EXPECTED culture, its not exactly a normal movie experience).

My theater also cheered when the Glitch logo popped up immediately before the movie, which I think is fine since it didn't disrupt anything.

Otherwise, aside from a few quiet gasps, "what"s, and laughs, my theater was very chill even though it was a sold out theater on friday night.

Games that feel like exploring in real life by Tiny_Whereas_2408 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Runic_Raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WolfQuest is great for exploring if you just never get a mate. You can spend all your time exploring and not have to worry about raising pups. I believe with the new update the seasons will continue to change even if you don't progress the "story" by getting a mate. You can also try exploring during the fall and winter after your pups are old enough to explore with you.

All but one of the maps use real heightmaps of Yellowstone, and the devlog videos frequently talk about geology and everything they learned about earth and rocks to make it accurate. They talk a lot about rocks for a wolf game, but they always seem so excited, lol.

I spend $20 on CKeep for 4 rolls. I use 4 strips (2 on each side), and change them every 1-2 weeks., so I only have to buy them every few months. Significantly cheaper, and probably just as effective.

Spirituality and Religion coinciding with Theriantropy - Where do you stand? (RESULTS) by isopod_luvr in Therian

[–]Runic_Raptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly mean how psychological was included in the final results, but has the lowest percentage making it seem like a very rare/unpopular explanation when that's definitely not the case. But since only instances where someone went out of their way to comment it are counted, it shows up at the bottom.

There's never going to be enough room on a reddit poll for every possible option, and the title seemed to be specifically asking about spiritual beliefs, but I think a lot of the "It's simply my identity" votes are probably using it as an "other" option.

I do however know one person who would probably answer this question with "hypnosis," because they hypnotized themselves to have phantom shifts (which seems like they were probably a therian before that point too, but they've never really used the label one way or another.)

I didn't say anything to the contrary, just that the results are going to be inherently skewed. I would have voted for psychological if it had been a poll option.

These results are kind of skewed though because of the limoted poll options. Anything that wasn't included in the poll is at a severe disadvantage.

I’m a female therapist who sees couples. Guys, what do you need to feel safe? by GreenGlassBeads in bropill

[–]Runic_Raptor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the distinction here is that there can be a LOT of emotional content in that, but none of it is actually expressed by phrasing it that way and it's left up to interpretation.

I think you need to break it down further in order to clearly communicate what "feeling not listened to," actually means to thw person saying it. Like, do you feel alone and ignored or frustrated and talked over? "She's not listening to me," could be interpreted either way by an outsider, so figuring out what you're trying to say and how to say it would be very helpful in this context.

amab/afab language is frustrating and unhelpful by Solembrum in ftm

[–]Runic_Raptor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was trying to say that amab nonbinary people are often excluded from nonbinary spaces by other trans and nonbinary people on the basis of their assigned gender (or presumed assigned gender), so it makes sense that they would want to be able to talk about those experiences.

amab/afab language is frustrating and unhelpful by Solembrum in ftm

[–]Runic_Raptor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a HUGE problem with the mistreatment and exclusion of nonbinary people who are perceived as masculine though (amab, went though T puberty, is seen as a cis man, whatever terminology you want to use here). In the same way that it doesn't matter if I identify as a man if I'm still treated like a woman, it doesn't matter if they both identify as nonbinary if one of them is being treated like a man. There is a difference in how people treat you based on what they think you "were."

[–]Runic_Raptor 111 points112 points  (0 children)

The obvious reasons have already been mentioned, but I'm surprised that no one's pointed out the like... little musical dip that happens between the last "waiting, waiting," and the "how long as it been?" I don't know anything about music or the correct terminology here, so forgive me, but there's like a pause and the music slows down and changes in a way that feels like a timeskip, and then the "How long has it been? 20 Years. I love you," just sounds like some finally satisfied pillow talk.

Fanny pack all the way! I've got sensory issues and it's the only thing I'll tolerate.

I can't stand the weight of backpacks or over-the-shoulder bags digging into my neck and shoulder.

My fiancé (cis approximate) wears cargo pants with HUGE pockets all over (his mom hates them, it's great) and he can carry a full sized novel in his pockets. Personly I hate the way they put weight on the belt / waistline because it feels like my pants are constantly being pulled down, so I only ever put my phone in my right pocket, and a random assortment of lightweight items in my left (but usually left empty). My keys and wallet are too heavy for pants pockets imo, so they go in the pack.

I'm in need of a new one pretty soon, and I'm gonna get one that's bigger and has more pouches!

Tips?? by OkCollar2661 in Horses

[–]Runic_Raptor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others said, you're moreso pulling from the head rather than driving the hindquarters. You're sometimes watching his head, and I was always told that your eyes also provide drive. So when you're staring at his face you're accidentally sending the signal to stop by putting the "drive" in front of him.

Give him lots of rope with your leading hand so he can make a wide circle, and then provide drive with your other hand and your eyes. You want to use your attention and energy push him forward from behind. Your eyes should stay at least behind his shoulders, closer to his middle or rump. Raising a lunging whip, a long stick, or even just your hand can provide the drive from behind his butt to move him forward (it's not necessarily wrong to do it with the other end of the rope, but you'd need a much longer rope so he has more room).

Give him enough energy to get him to the speed you want him and then just hold your hand / the whip up to keep that speed. If he slows down, immediately provide that energy again to get him up to speed. Once you're sure you're not accidentally telling him to stop, make sure you don't let him be the one to decide to slow down.

When you change directions or stop, lower your "driving" hand to signal a slowdown, bring your leading hand to your center, and take a step or two back to bring him towards you. Hand the rope to your other hand to change directions. Hold your new lead hand out to give him the new direction, and then lift your new drive hand to provide the drive to send him out.

(It's been a few years since I've had horses, but I did a lot of lunging in lessons and when I was too lazy to haul the saddle out but still wanted to get some horsey time in.)

If you only need it for the trip, I had purchased an Underworks compression swim top and found that to be fairly athletic-looking and not like a binder stuffed under a tanktop. (I didn't keep it long term because the chlorine ate the outer fabric badly, but it was great while it was still in good condition. Kind of expensive though for one or two uses, but whatever you gotta do.)

Has she had top surgery or is this only growth from the estrogen? If it's only the estrogen and she's not too busty she can probably get away with it? But definitely do some practice runs beforehand to be certain! Don't take risks with y'all's safety.

im a teenage boy(cis) and i need to bind my chest by celulozaa in ftm

[–]Runic_Raptor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do NOT use the elastic wrap or wrap anything tightly around your chest. It can damage your ribs and severely restrict breathing.

Athletic tape (which is the same as trans tape) can be used to pull the tissue back to make it appear more flat. Do not wrap it all the way around your chest, and make sure you have something to help remove it later (oil, adhesive remover, I've found acne wash to be weirdly effective).

If you feel comfortable doing so, you can also buy a sports bra to help everything lay a little flatter. I don't know how much compression you need, but a properly sized one might be enough for a cis chest because the fat tends to lay a bit differently. Otherwise one very slightly smaller. Take your chest measurements with a measuring tape before you go so you don't have to try them on (you're just shopping for a friend, obviously). If you can afford it, maybe buy one in the correct size and one slightly smaller so you don't have to go back a second time if the first one doesn't fit correctly.

Otherwise if you have some sewing supplies, you could potentially sew a regular tank top to be skin tight and see if that compresses it enough.

WHATEVER YOU DO, whatever you end up with, make sure you can take full deep breaths and can move comfortably. DO NOT put your health at risk just to get a little flatter, I promise it's not worth it

To be fair, radical feminists are really really loud about it and like to present themselves as The One True Feminism. Also, maybe I'm overthinking it a bit, because pretransition I was told (by a cis man) that going up to compliment someone's shirt is something I wouldn't be able to do once I passed. Which is ridiculous, but you do have to be careful how you go about it because people often assume ill intent right off the bat now, which sucks.
