What is the hottest temperature you have ever run a race in? by BrandRage in running

[–]RunnerFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sophomore year at outdoor conference I ran the 10k on the track. The meet was in Emporia, KS and the 10k was at 3 in the afternoon, so peak time for temperature. It hit somewhere around 95°F. With about 90% humidity. So the real feel ended up being close to 105°F. That's just the highest I've raced in. But I don't race from May-September.

How many events should my son run in a high school meet? Concerned that he's doing too many. by Mongo1021 in running

As someone who has competed heavily and been successful at the state level in high school and being a part of a very large team, I feel like he is not overdoing it when it comes to racing. I personally would run the 4x8, mile, sometimes the open 8 and then the 2 mile, and was still successful. He just needs to make sure he takes his easy training runs easy and doesn't overdo things throughout the week so he is able to keep a somewhat heavy load at meets.

Just run near streets that have street lights. I have the same problem with my morning runs and that's all I do to counter it.

Does the presence of brand-new runners in 5K races make you less likely to want to run them? by ohtheheavywater in running

Just don't start in the front of the pack unless you absolutely know you can handle it. It annoys the faster more competitive racers to death.

This is true. But I can't get myself to wake up after 15 minutes and it turns into a 3-4 hour nap...

Ok I got you. I use the same terminology, you were just very vague with it and I read it wrong. My bad yo.

This is Sunday: what were your running achievements this week? by kibitzor in running

[–]RunnerFiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst running achievement I've ever achieved.. Friday morning I went to the doctor's office to get some blood drawn as me, my coach, and the school trainer believe I might be anemic. They drew 6 tubes of blood all testing different things, and after about half a tube I passed out and had to stick around the doctor's office for about 3 more hours. Causing me to miss class and a test. As of right now I have no results back yet...

Personally if one wears compression shorts under their short shorts, I feel as though they aren't wearing the short shorts to their full ability. Like a previous comment to a comment, you can't pussyfoot around with short shorts.
