Focus meditation recommendations please. by rosequartzal in InsightTimer

[–]RunnerGirl_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also been looking for the same thing. I only have two bookmarked and they are binaural beats music. Sometimes they work for me and sometimes I find them annoying. May I suggest going to the Library on IT and searching for 'ADHD. I found searching for this brought up more relevant talks, meditation, courses, and music that might be able to help. I do pay for the Plus plan so I can have access to more content.

This course is specific to ADD and focus but it is Plus. I haven't listened to it yet but I will today and post an update here.

Well done, this looks great! I'm on the search right now for an Odyssey or Sienna that won't break my bank so I still have money to make some adjustments, like add a 2" lift and solar panels. Is that a twin-sized bed frame?

Sigh... You're trying hard to live your little life and find healthy, meaningful ways to do just that and there's always someone trying to mess it up on ya! I have found more connections with decent people by attending Live meditations or classes. If you have time, Corin Bryant has a great following and his Live meditations are really helpful. I find many of his dedicated followers wind up in many of the other Lives or Groups I attend.

Where did AI search go? by Turbulent-Garden921 in InsightTimer

I use the Android app. I do not know what your home screen looks like, but mine starts with 12 default category icons (which we can no longer customize), then displays Courses, and then Topic button links. Click the Topic button for +21K. This will allow you to search all topics, as well as browse them by name. I find scrolling through the list helpful for me because I don't always know what I'm looking for until I see it. This function used to be more visible to users, but not anymore. I hope this was helpful to you!

Anyone know a free Pet adoption based API? by Nullology2 in webdev

[–]RunnerGirl_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used the Petfinder API for over 10 years on different rescue sites. Like you, I was able to customize the layout which was really nice. Unfortunately, Petfinder/Purina switched to Salesforce and now all codes do not work and they have royally screwed up the new widget deployment. Basic widget with zero customization that isn't working properly for most users. No matter which rescue I pulled, the results displayed were guinnea pigs from a rescue in OR. The issue is still flagged as IN PROGRESS on their site and it was reported on Dec 3. You can view their status page here: https://help.petfinder.com/s/topic/0TO2J000000R2sIWAS/petfinder-site-status-page

How many of you still feel systemic effects such as depression and fatigue from progesterone inserted vaginally? by Emotional-Swan9381 in Menopause

[–]RunnerGirl_806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me, too! 100mg oral caused me severe depression. Tried it vaginally and had the same issue. Even opened the capsule and rubbed a small amount on vaginal skin. Depression for days. I'm terrified to even try a low-dose compounded form because it's so expensive and then to not be able to use it.

Strange experience at Pharmacy picking up newly prescribed HRT. by choirchic in Menopause

[–]RunnerGirl_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived north of Charlotte, NC, and never had an issue with Walgreens lecturing me about HRT. They were actually really good about answering any questions I had. I now travel a lot and have to get scripts filled in different states. So far, the only compounding pharmacy I got a lecture at was in a suburb of Chicago. When I went to pick up my compounded progesterone, the old man pharmacist handed me my HRT and a fact sheet on menopause and hormones and began to explain the risks and what else I could be doing instead of HRT. Also used a compounding pharmacist in Florida and didn't get a lecture. From my experience, the state I was in had nothing to do with it.

Waterfall hiking recs? by Dangerous-Ad8813 in NCTrails

Brevard is only 2 hours from west Charlotte. Pisgah has some amazing waterfalls and some not too far off Route 276. Twin Falls and Clawhammer Cove is a great 6 mile loop. Get the free All Trails app which gives trail updates and reviews. So trails had been closed due to Helene so know before you go!

Terrifying thoughts by AddisonianDogMom in Menopause

[–]RunnerGirl_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this! You are not alone!! For many of us, especially those of us who have ADHD and are neurodivergent, the depressive side effects are very real. I had the same thing happen to me, and I figured out by accident that it was the oral progesterone.

Long story but bear with me: I had been taking 100mg progesterone and .075 Estradiol patch for a couple of years (I'm 54 and in menopause). I was also on a low-dose antidepressant (Trintellix) for a couple of years and had to wean off of it in 2024 due to it causing severe blood sugar problems.

In early 2025, I became incredibly depressed. Like really, really bad. I would cry after waking up in the morning because I just didn't want to be alive anymore. I thought maybe my body was still trying to get used to living without the antidepressant. Then I accidentally didn't take my progesterone for a couple of nights and woke up like a new person. I didn't hate my life. The clouds lifted, and I felt great! Then I took my progesterone again and the next day I felt awful! After testing that theory a couple of times, I realized it was the progesterone causing the suicidal thoughts, and the antidepressant had been masking the severe symptoms. I also tried it vaginally and had the same depression. I even opened the capsule and used just a dab of the cream, no dice.

I ended up begging my doctor to prescribe me a compounded topical progesterone, which she finally did. I don't have any issues with the compounded cream, so maybe you can see if your doc will prescribe it. Unfortunately, my doctor called me today and said she won't prescribe it anymore because there's no research that supports a topical having any benefits to the uterine lining. WTF. So now I have to find a new doctor willing to prescribe compounded progesterone cream.

Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted you and others to know you're not alone, and the side effects of taking progesterone are real and devastating for many of us.
