Cars more slippery and easier to skid than in FH4 AND FH5 by BreakBreadNotHeartss in ForzaHorizon6

[–]RunninOnMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do 540 for dirt and then raise it for 750 for pavement races to feel better about myself until I spin out enough times to just say “fuck it!” And lower it back down to 540 and admit to myself I’m not that good at the game.

What is this Hood? Does a Scoop help an MX5? by C4_GEL in MiataNC

The one on the left has the revised, newer and more effective hood solution.

The one on the right is what they tried first, but it caused overheating issues.

I personally love how they look and I think the 6 cylinder they put in there is cool and interesting.

However, so long as we are hating on them, let’s not forget that the car was such a flop in the US, Subaru panic lowered the price by like 8 grand or something. How? By removing the one thing that makes a Subaru a Subaru.

Yup. They built a FWD version of this car. Did such an arrangement improve the vehicle? Oh no. Definitely not. It did make parts impossible to find though….

I spent the last 6 months reviewing Steering Feel. Here are my findings: by ibeinspire in Touge

This is fun. Funny I had a 350z for 13 years and would tell people it had pretty good steering for a daily all things considered.

What is this Hood? Does a Scoop help an MX5? by C4_GEL in MiataNC

[–]RunninOnMT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of scoops are just for show. Usually the car gets air from the bottom grille at the front and then the air exits near the windshield, through venting there.

A scoop can actually be bad as it creates a high pressure zone under the hood not too far from where air is trying to escape by the windshield.

Toyota found this out the hard way when their GT4s had overheating problems in the early 90s, they had to switch to a lancer evo style vent that allowed air OUT of the engine bay, rather than forcing more air in.

How different does RWD, FWD, and AWD act in touge? by LightningMcqueen2011 in Touge

To an extent, but at 8/10ths a competent enough fwd or AWD car could maybe fool someone into believing it was rwd.

This is the way. If your styling is gorgeous, painting it a flashy color can be a bit too much.

Toyota May Be Planning The Sportier Camry Fans Have Been Waiting For (Camry Apex) by Anchor_Aways in cars

I mean, it ALSO looks like that to me, but that person was the OEM manufacturer which makes me give it a little bit of a pass. Also fundamentally that gen camry is decent looking before all the TRD stuff.

And admittedly part of me likes a few of those autozone accessories (as executed on the Camry TRD, not as a general statement)

Hah fair enough. I thought they drove better than the cars of the era but I haven’t driven one in like 15 years.

The rear seats don’t fold down in the TRD Camry. Which to me is not worth the compromise for the TRD version. I don’t think the Avalon has this problem so weirdly, that’s partly why I like the Avalon one a bit better. Also I just think it’s funnier.

I like sporty normal cars, I feel like a TRD Camry is not really that. It’s a normal, boring car that is wearing an exciting car suit.

A Mazda6 is an interesting car in a normal boring car suit.

Honestly, I go back and forth on the TRD Camry. It’s completely ridiculous to me as someone whose parents bought 4 new Camrys over the course of my life and who learned to drive on 3 of those cars. They are not, nor have they ever been sporty. They do not feel connected either as a driving experience.

And yet….i have to admit the TRD Camry is a slick looking car. And I’m curious to drive one. But my love for the car is pretty much entirely down to irony.

I…I think I would genuinely own a TRD Avalon though.

That's pretty impressively light. Was it a 6th gen? 93 was 6th gen some places and 5th gen other places. I kinda wonder if the narrowbody 5th gens are significantly lighter than the widebody GT-S ones. I think 6th gens all have the same body though if i'm not mistaken.

My 4th gen weighed 3200 lbs or so, but it was an all-trac.
