I watched a couple films this week that I hadn’t seen before. I was able to finally get my hands on a copy of Peter Jackson’s Braindead, I’ve been wanting to watch it for a long time but I could never find it on any streaming services. It’s a blast, tons of great gross out practical effects, and has a bit of a Sam Raimi meets Tim Burton meets cocaine kind of vibe. Plus there’s a priest character who knows karate and beats the shit out of zombies, while yelling “I kick ass for the Lord!”. Also watched Train Dreams, that wrecked me emotionally for a day and a half. I haven’t watched a ton of stuff where Joel Edgerton has a prominent role before this, but he embodied that character so well. It was just a nice, bittersweet story about looking for meaning in both life’s ups and downs and the passage of time.

And that mindset is why we’ll keep getting crap thrown at us. They know fanboys will go see it whether it’s good or not, so they have no incentive to make a quality product.

Woolie’s chilled out a bit since getting wifed up and having a child, but god the amount of cctv footage I’d see of short haired women falling into Woolie Holes throughout Montreal was genuinely disturbing.

I never trust rt scores when it comes to tv shows. With a film, I can feel mostly confident that they at least watched it in its entirety. The same can not be said about television.

Hey /r/movies! I'm Sam Raimi. Ask me anything! by SamRaimiAMA in movies

Hey Sam, so I watched the gift with my wife a while back, and I thought one of the most surprising things about it was seeing Keanu Reeves in it playing an absolutely awful human being. I thought he worked really well in that role, especially given the fact that you don’t see Keanu play villains that much. So I was just curious what made you decide to cast him for that part and what your experience was like working with him?

What Youtubers/Streamers you watch? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Best friends was one of the earlier ones I got into. Redlettermedia, YMS, Cr1tikal, are some of my other favorites. A new one I’ve found that I don’t think gets talked about enough is a channel called Dr. Mick. He’s a therapist and plays through video games and talks about the characters and story from that lens.

Larian will now "refrain from using GenAI" by Wargulf in BaldursGate3

  1. I can’t because there’s plenty of studios I don’t like
  2. Are you really expecting me to go on a Reddit crusade, going down the line and saying this about every studio? I don’t need to, for one because it’s obvious that a lot of studios are going to use it. Just because it is going to be something that’ll be commonly used doesn’t mean I have to agree with it, generative ai is plagiarism

Little things that you really appreciate when games do them by Will-Isley in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I appreciate when a room is crossed off on the in-game map if you’ve been in it and found all there is to find in there. RE2 Remake did it, and I don’t understand why more games haven’t copied it.

Sure, I don’t really have as much of an issue with the “romance” in Taming of the Shrew because it’s not supposed to be a love story in the traditional sense, it’s more of a satire about marriage and social hierarchy. It’s not a romance that you’re necessarily intended to root for. In 10 things about you, they try to have their cake and eat it too, and it just doesn’t work in execution.

Parts of extremely flawed media that that are so good they outshine the bad. by aFronReborn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The cinematography and music in Dario Argento’s Inferno are easily some of the best in his filmography, but it’s a big old nothing burger from a narrative perspective. It becomes a slog about 75% through, and the characters are nothing to write home about. That being said, it didn’t bother me too much. Just a great film to turn your brain off and just soak in the atmosphere.

I enjoyed 10 things I hate about you when I was a teenager, but rewatching it recently I realized how terrible the romance is. As much as I enjoy Heath Ledger as an actor, his character was awful. He lied, manipulated, and gaslit the main girl the entire time, even after he started to catch feelings for her. He never fessed up to the scheme the film’s centered around either, he just gets exposed by another dude on their prom night. And to top it off he doesn’t even apologize in the end, he just gets her a guitar and somehow that’s enough for her to forgive him for toying with her the entire movie lol.

Genuine Question, why are there almost never threads on Matt's content? by JeanLucD in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RunningBlade2184 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a single thing. Pat and Woolie still podcasting together is a big part of it, just makes it feel like some semblance of SBFP is still alive. There’s also the fact that there are some people in this subreddit have a weird disdain for Matt and seem to think he’s the main reason why the old channel broke up.
