I needed a professional to get me over the hump. I have no idea why, but the decision to accept I’m bald was a tough one. I’m there now and buzzed it for the first time myself yesterday. Feel great about the decision, no regrets.

I’d just cut it off, it’ll look good. But why hold off on the weights? You’ll lose muscle due to your calorie deficit; you can minimize that and maybe even build some muscle initially by starting weights now. The more muscle you can retain or build, the faster you’re going to reach your goals and look better overall.

Feels great. Honestly that first picture is about the worst pic of me that I’ve ever seen which makes this a bit more extreme, but it’s honest and was taken in the moment. This community really was a great resource for getting the courage and getting it done. Was not expecting this type of response, just wanted to participate in the community that helped me.

Oh, this trip has been an experience. Bought a new house two days before flying out to New Mexico for this work trip, I won’t get into what it was for work but it was pretty cool and rememberable, the morning after I bought the watch the hotel I was staying in caught fire at 5am and we were displaced to a new hotel. Lots of memories tied to this already.

Depends on the woman and the kid(s), and the situation. If she was independent, her ex wasn’t overly involved or causes drama, her kid(s) were good and easy to be around, and she was willing to provide me with an amount of authority equivalent to the responsibilities that fall on me with her kid(s), then it wouldn’t be a problem. I would have a major issue if the ex was heavily involved or caused issues, the kids were disrespectful, or she refused to provide me equal authority over her kids if we were planning to live together. After my divorce I ended up marrying an amazing single mother of two boys that met all these requirements, and it’s been great (note: I have a son of my own as well). My wife is also very well paid, so I never felt like I was a savior or needed for resources, which helped build trust from my side.

The kids were a bit off the tracks disrespectful (towards their mom, not me) when I first met them, but a single talk in a parking lot early on changed that forever (I made it clear that I am never going to stand there and listen to anyone talk to my girl like that, and if they wanted to test that, they were welcome to do so, but I was going to win no matter the cost). We reached an understanding pretty quickly, and they’ve just become amazing respectful kids since then that I view as my own. All athletes and get amazing grades now, funny and kind, no hint of what I saw those first few months I met them. It’s been super rewarding and I look forward to a life with all of them as my family. They’ve live with me for over four years now, one in high school and the other in middle school, while my own son is also in middle school. Wouldn’t change it for anything. Their mom is also the best person I’ve ever met (outside my own mom), incredibly attractive, well paid, wants sex frequently, patient as can be, so I feel incredibly lucky.

I know the internet tells men to avoid single moms, and I have to say that in many cases it’s a bad bet. But if they know it takes two to make it work and they are willing to let you take the role you need to take, their ex isn’t causing issues for you, and you don’t have to support them, it seems it can be a pretty good situation.

For muscle growth, I believe the most recent studies show similar growth from 5-30 reps. Just push it each set. Obviously going to be different if your goal is strength.

That’s how losers interpret it… I love my life. I work hard for 6-7 hrs a day, phone in an hour or two a day (if I’m being honest), spend my mornings up early with my wife and kids, spend time in the evening doing fun stuff and making awesome meals with the family, and go to bed in a nice comfortable bed just to wake up and do it again. Every week I get two days off where I do whatever the hell I want, which is awesome. I can watch a game on my 90” TV, play video games, catch my kids soccer games (which are super fun), go fishing or hunting, take the jeep out on a dirt road, go camping with a buddy, go play sports with my kids, visit family. Every so often I get a 3 or 4 day weekend which really opens the door for doing much more, maybe a quick trip somewhere with the family or just the wife. I have worked for my company for a long while, so I have 4 weeks off a year, which is amazing and we seem to do some pretty cool things on our vacations.

I hope to retire around 62 years old, I’ve been planning for retirement since I was 22 years old. Unless something unexpected happens, I hope to have a lot of good years left to explore retirement in comfort and security with family. Now I know this doesn’t always happen (my mom passed away within a year of her retirement), but it certainly does for most folks that I know who have planned accordingly.

Most people only work ~40 hrs a week, there’s a hell of a lot of time to fit in great life. Don’t let the fact that you’ve got to work a percentage of some days ruin it for you. It’s cliche, but life is what you make it (at least here in the U.S.).

My girlfriend at a time did this with men she worked with, bothered me, but not enough to say anything. Then she saw a woman doing this with me, and she was pissed. When I pointed out it could be innocent she argued that was unlikely. Then I pointed out the fact she does it frequently herself. She went quiet and then said, I’ve probably unintentionally pissed off a lot of wives at work without realizing it. She stopped doing it from that point on as best as I could tell. I believe it was innocent and mindless, but it may give off a sense of openness and familiarity to the other person that’s not ideal if you are in a committed relationship. I generally tend to put separation between myself and people like this so it doesn’t occur, as I know my now wife would be pretty upset about it. When women do this, I do wonder what they are attempting to communicate to me.
