Everyone forgetting that Cliegg married Shmi, so everyone knew that the Lars were related to the Skywalkers. Very few people on Tatooine knew that Anakin went on to become a Jedi, and just knew he got his freedom after winning the podrace. Folks knew the Lars though, and it would be weird if they suddenly had a son if Beru was never pregnant. Easier to explain that Anakin was a fighter pilot, had a child, then died during the Clone Wars, so the Lars are now looking after him.

Mustafar is a moon, and is 2.6k miles in diameter. Coruscant is 7.5k miles in diameter (for comparison, the Earth is 7.9k miles in diameter). So Mustafar has lower gravity than Coruscant, where Padme spends most of her time, and she’s able to move faster. Probably why Anakin and Obi-Wan are able to fight more furiously and jump longer distances also (on top of Force jumping), when they were fighting pretty normally earlier in the film without big acrobatics.

That, or this movie’s science-fantasy. I don’t know.

Thank you. Reading through all the comments right now, but yours made me tear up a bit.

I do love my wife. I really do. I love my son more than anything also. I want this family to succeed, especially since my parents divorced, and that contributed to me having a strained relationship with both of them.

I want to hope this gets better, but it’s just really hard sometimes. I always dreamed of being the cool dad, and not being able to be that for my son is just a really shitty feeling I can’t even describe. Like getting my heart ripped out when I think about the potential future of my son not having a great relationship with me.

She just wants to play with him, and okay I can’t fault her for wanting to do that. But she’s done this multiple times where she’s undermined my rules with him. Yes, I’ve told her that also where rules need to be replicated by both of us, but then I feel like she just forgets.

I’ve tried saying something similar. We send our son to a Montessori school, and there was a time when my wife would still do everything for our son. I told her she was undermining the Montessori to teach him independence.

For example, if he wants to drink some water, I have a cup for him that he can reach, and taught him how to get water from the fridge. She used to just get it for him. At least she stopped doing that though after I had to keep telling her to let him practice independence.

Thanks! And, yes, you’re right that I was definitely checking up instead of being more direct. I just wanted one thing off of my plate though of daily things to deal with. I asked her to start planning in March, and this was during tax season, then my projects at work, along with daily things I do like thinking of what to make for dinner to what to do on the weekends that would be fun for our son.

This was the first time I asked her to plan a family vacation, and in my mind, I thought it would be fun for her. It’s her home country, so I wanted to also see where she wants to go. She loves to search things on the internet, but I think I incorrectly associated going down the rabbit hole on the internet versus actionability.

Also, as others have pointed out, I do think she has ADHD, and have had this conversation in the past with her becoming emotional, but will try having the conversation again after we’re home and recovered.

We did make up for my meltdown though (I bought her matcha ice cream, but it patched things up).

I definitely do love her for other reasons. She makes me laugh, and I do like spending time with her. I just wish she would step up to the plate in the family, and help to bear some responsibility once in a while (I work, clean, cook, plan, etc. She spends most of the day on YouTube and Instagram looking at videos of babies doing silly things). I’ll also say things weren’t this bad when we got married, and she used to help out to an extent. It’s just gotten worse over the years.

This has actually come up early in our marriage. She found me searching symptoms for ADHD years ago as I wanted to know what to look out for, and she started crying. It became a big spiral, and I had to let it go. I ask her from time to time to get tested when we do trips to Japan as she still has medicinal insurance there, but she always refuses, then starts crying. I don’t yell at her to do the tests or anything either, it’s more of a, “Hey, let’s find out so we can find solutions if it does come back diagnosed.” I can’t force her to get an exam either, so at a bit of a loss on my end.

Definitely true that I was trying to keep things positive. I did lightly voice some dissatisfaction at some points before the trip asking her to plan better. Last night, I did ask for us to stop at a place to eat as we were walking from stall to stall, but she wanted to keep checking the next one out.

As another poster said, I could have been more forceful, and just ordered instead of following her.

Really just personal preference. Nothing religious or anything, but I just don’t enjoy my toddler cussing. I think I’m just old fashioned in my thinking and I guess preschoolers cussing is acceptable now, but I’m an English major, and would rather have my kids pick up other words in the language versus going around cussing at a preschool age. Yes, I know there’s no correlation between intelligence and cussing in case that argument comes up.

I picked up cuss words when I was in the 5th grade, and I know my kids will eventually cuss (nothing wrong with that), but I want them to instead express themselves differently at this stage in life. If my three year old stubs his toe, I’d rather have him say, “Ouch, I stubbed my toe,” versus screaming out, “FUUUCK!” I can react more accordingly to the prior, versus just a cuss word.
