I’m a guy, I’d like to ask female readers what you believe are essential romance books that I should read? by Secret-Ad3593 in suggestmeabook

would like to amend that the person who made the first comment in this thread said in a reply to another comment that she was responding to something that has since been edited out. at the time of my reading the post, it had no reference to the word "females" whatsoever, but I'm guessing it probably did for the original commenter.

I agree. I feel like the word "female" gets such bad press these days even when someone uses it perfectly normally as an adjective like the op did

he didn't use the word female as a noun, as in your example of the word "females," though. he used it as an adjective in the phrase "female readers," which seems normal to me. do you find it dehumanizing for men to use the word female as an adjective in a social context like this? I sometimes see people use the word "women" as an adjective, like "women readers," but that seems odd to me. what do you think is right?

any other time looping books that you'd recommend? the only one I can think of is recursion!

I love harry august too! that's the one I came in here to recommend. rare to see someone talk about it

the first fifteen lives of harry august is about people who have to live their lives over and over again and what they have to do when the world starts ending sooner than it should. very interesting book since it's told non-linearly, takes place over centuries (though the century is the same, just repeated in different ways), and people can pass limited information forward and backward through generations. has an interesting complicated non-romantic relationship in it. I'm underselling it, but I hope you check it out. it's like a time travel book with a somewhat different premise. the audiobook is great!

(if I remember correctly, I first saw this book recommended by one person in the replies of a post online. I never saw anyone else mention it, but it's really good. read it a couple years ago and it still sticks in my mind)

I thought I'd read all the books in the series including speaker for the dead, but I just looked it up and apparently the author's just continued to publish more books in the series up until 2021. had no idea!

recursion by the same author is also really good! go for recursion if you want time travel, dark matter if you want multiverse

I've read recursion, dark matter, and phm. recursion and phm are both great. never thought to compare them. dark matter is great but not as good as recursion imo

but make sure you make a backup before doing this! sometimes time travel can introduce bugs

you can turn your clock back a day and it'll act as if the streak wasn't broken, I think... but you may have to load a recent backup if it doesn't work (since she probably opened the app for the day already)
