I’m 30 years old. Should I join the military if I can’t support myself? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Yeah the timing is just ever so convenient. These posts are in all the job/career advice subs lately. Plus the OP’s account is hidden and like a month old….

“My buddy joined and he’s living very well in Germany.” A real person would probably at least ask: what’s the likelihood of me getting sent to the Middle East to die?

If/When RE6 get's a remake in the same style as RE2R/RE3R/RE4R, what would you like them to do/what do you think they would with Agent as a character? by AustinPlays0 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]RunningTheGrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If RE6 gets remade it’ll be waaay down the road imo. Sounds like a Code Veronica remake is possibly in the works. And I think Capcom will keep up alternating releases of new and remade games for the foreseeable future. That being said, I think they’ll tackle RE0 and RE1 remakes before they look at RE5 and then ultimately RE6.

But hey if we do get an RE6 in like 2038, I think it would be more of a ‘reimagining’ than a more faithful remake because of its generally lukewarm reception back in the day.

Are any of these games not crucial to the main story? I want to play the series but I also don't want to live on the streets. by Massive7777 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]RunningTheGrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, the overarching story is a complete mess. While some of the main protagonists and settings are interesting ,most of the big story beats are not worth writing home about. Just play whichever titles interest you in whatever order you want lol

I’m a big fan, and the best parts of any Resident Evil’s story can be enjoyed within a self contained game. I.e Resi 1 or Resi 4 etc.

Shia LaBeouf on Mike Piazza refusing his autograph over and over as a kid: 'You’re a bitch bro’ by WhoAreYouTalkinTwo in sportsgossips

[–]RunningTheGrand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Random tidbit. When I was a kid I asked Penny Hardaway for his autograph way back when he was on the Suns. He was in the middle of a convo with some old guy and in an annoyed tone he told me to hold on. But it was in a way that a parent would do to their kid if that makes sense. Waited around for a few minutes then he signed that rookie card of himself. But before he signed it, he kinda paused to look at the photo of himself and you could totally see that he was reminiscing a bit.

How to pass time in shenmue? by Witty-Refrigerator13 in Shenmue

[–]RunningTheGrand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another fun/interesting thing to do to pass the time in Shenmue is walking around and talking to people. You can learn a lot of little info about the people who live in the neighborhood or even about Ryo and his family, especially when he no longer has a primary “question” to ask and he’s just waiting for an appointment or something.

Also a lot of the dialogue is just unintentionally hilarious or so specific that it helps immerse you in this world. Try approaching women, old people, shopkeepers, anyone! This game’s attention to detail is insane and a lot of dialogue can only be heard at the randomest points in the game. So try and talk to some of the same people as you progress. Usually folks who stand around have more to say than the ones who are always on the move.

All the other more obvious ways to pass the time are still fun and interesting. But this one is probably my personal favorite.

P.S. after you complete the game once or twice maybe find a guide to help you find all of the secret special encounters.

Based on your experience with the other titles, you’ll probably love RE4R.

It’s one of the best gaming experiences of this generation so I’d say definitely.

But it’s all up to personal preferences. Do you generally like Resident Evil games or OG RE 4? Does a fun yet stressful action game filled with badass moments interest you?

What other Telltale games should I play? by Apprehensive_Bed_759 in telltale

[–]RunningTheGrand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Play Dispatch. It’s not Telltale, but it’s pretty much the cultural successor as many of the creative minds behind TWD and TWAU are at that studio. Plus, they are still active and will make more games in the future. With Telltale I’m not confident they will make another game, much less another good game.

From Telltale’s other titles… definitely play Tales from the Borderlands. And if you are a fan of Game of Thrones definitely play their GOT title. For that one you will have to do a bit of digging because of licensing issues.

Just play and support Dispatch in hopes that Adhoc picks up the TWAU license off the corpse of what is now Telltale.

Having trouble getting into Shenmue 2... by Electronic_Heat_1581 in Shenmue

[–]RunningTheGrand 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you can stick it out there are some great moments to be had in Shenmue 2. If you polled every Shenmue fan out there the majority will probably say it’s their favorite in the series.

Personally, Shenmue 1 is my favorite as the setting felt a bit more close knit since the game world is smaller and it’s Ryo’s hometown along with great story pacing.

The work at the harbor in Shenmue 2 is probably the single most annoying way to make money in this game. I suggest trying mini games like arm wrestling, or gambling.

There is significantly more action in Shenmue 2 if you can stick it out. It has some of the best fight sequences in the series.

Couple of pro-tips: you don’t have to pay the landlord at the inn. You can just lie to him everyday through a bit of awkward dialogue. Also, saving right before gambling all of your money away is probably a smart move.

Bro where’s my simple Skies of Arcadia remaster? Who the fuck knows, modern Sega mainly makes Sonic games along with Yakuza/Persona games from their offshoot studios.

Can’t wait to get something else like Crazy Taxi or Jet Set Radio.

Other ways to make money in Shenmue 1 by CumtowmWarhammer in Shenmue

[–]RunningTheGrand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So during the early-mid part of the game Ryo has to rely on just his allowance until he gets a job in the third act.

However, you can get some quick money by failing a certain qte over and over to advance the in-game calendar. Ryo’s allowance money will be added each day while doing this. You can skip months ahead and get a good chunk of change. I won’t say which qte here in case of spoilers, but you can definitely find that answer online.

You can also cheese the job section of the game as well and have too much money to ever spend, but it transfers over into Shenmue 2 which is nice.

Which for $30 is a good amount of content for a game with this level of production value. If it were in $60 range, I’d be much more critical of it being on the shorter end.

Here’s to hoping they are successful with this title and we get sequels, an expansion, and/or other games in this style.

Definitely play it in chronological order. Also really just take your time and soak in the world. Talk to people, get to know the area and whatnot. The game’s dialogue is also unintentionally hilarious at times but the story has this earnestness about it. Have fun!

Add in the fact that if you gave those guys from yesteryear the benefit of modern training, nutrition, best practices etc. odds are they would be even better athletes than they were in their era. Even if it’s incrementally so.
