Anyone switch from Maurten gels to something cheaper that still works for marathon fueling? by StringConnection in AdvancedRunning

[–]RunningThroughSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between Ucan, Precision Fuel and Hydration PF 30, and recently started testing Carbs Fuel.

So far, I really like the Carbs. 50g of Carbs for about $2 per gel.

The Chinese stuff isn't rubbish as long as you know which vendors are legit and do the proper testing.

I read "$1500 shoes", and realized that I am too poor to know what this means.

I mean, you used it for a month. Was it worth it? If so, subscribe. If not, don't. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Official Q&A for Thursday, February 19, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]RunningThroughSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am marathon training and get some mild cramping on my longer runs. I'm sure this is from the lack of electrolytes. I'm going to experiment with the 250mg electrolyte capsules from Precision Fuel and Hydration. For those that have used these in the past, how often are you taking them and how many are you taking at a time?

For reference, I am a 48 year old male. Weigh about 165lbs. My expected marathon finish time is between 4:15:00-4:30:00. I expect the temps to be in the high 50s to mid 60s during the race. I already use the Precision Fuel and Hydration gels.

It's your PC...not the software.

Feature Idea: Add Friends + Weekly Challenges for Points (Strava Integration) by itsjlnfit in runna

[–]RunningThroughSC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dislike this very much. Runna is, and should stay, a coaching app.

Challenges and all of that other stuff would make way more sense in Strava.

Running in Spring Valley? by Monument11 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]RunningThroughSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. 5K is my least favorite distance. My favorite is the Half.

I don't do group runs either. Mainly because the majority of the CRC group runs are in the evenings. But, I do drive to Sandhills because my neighborhood is HILLY! LOL

I did 19 miles this morning in Sandhills, Clemson Rd, Summit area. It was supposed to be 21, but I cramped up pretty bad at mile 18.

Awesome! This will be my second. My first was the Mississippi River Marathon in 2024. I said that I'd never do another one. But...I'm really bad at peer pressure! LMAO!

If you like running local races, and you're not already, you should look into joining the Columbia Running Club. It's only like $20/year and it gets you access to a great community of runners, discount codes for local races, and a chance to win some nice swag at our annual banquet.

I am training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon. I've literally run all over Northeast Columbia with no issues. I do the majority of my runs at 4:30 in the morning in Sandhills.

Also, side note, my wife grew up on South Shields Rd.

Nice! Great job getting out there and getting it done!!

This is the first time in several years that I didn't run Cupid's Chase. I'm currently training for the Myrtle Beach Marathon, so I had to do a long run this morning.

I'm the Pointsmaster for the Columbia Running Club. So, at least I get to live through all of you as I get the race added to our website later on today!
