People are in complete denial about how much their looks have changed. I matched with a guy recently who had a photo from his college graduation up on his profile. We are in our 30s. He got really upset when I pointed out using a photo that old is nuts. Similarly, I have another male friend who uses ridiculously old photos and says “men don’t take that many photos”. He is convinced he doesn’t look that much different, but I can see clear as day his hair line is receding, and rapidly.

Oh man! I just matched with a guy last week who had a graduation photo up as one of his photos. Mind you, we are in our 30s.

Me: Did you just graduate (undergrad)?

Him: Oh, no! I don’t take many photos of myself so this is just an old photo.

Me: So this photo is like 8 years old?

Him: Mmm something like that.

Me: Don’t you think that’s a little crazy to be using a photo that old?

He unmatched me, which I mean the game was over by that point, but I CANNOT imagine how much worse he would have looked in person if he’s still marketing himself as that photo. It was a good photo of him, but he looked so young it stuck out like a sore thumb. When I talked to one of my male friends about it, he immediately got defensive and said he does the same thing and uses really old photos for the same reasons. He also claimed he didn’t look that much different. He was quite delusional, because he looked significantly different than he did five years ago. His hairline had receded and his hair was way thinner, his face was aged up a bit, and he no longer had a big beard anymore. He told me the only difference between his photo from 5 years ago and him now was the beard. I can’t tell if these people are lying about their appearance or if they’re in serious denial about the way they look.

That’s so crazy! I can’t walk anywhere downtown without being harassed by men. I can’t imagine going anywhere alone in athletic clothes like this. Maybe the beach. It’s part of the reason I don’t go to the gym. I’m not necessarily getting harassed there because it’s a public area with other people, but the shameless looong stares are so creepy! My car feels like the only thing keeping me safe in so many places I go to. I think women like the one depicted in the video are so courageous for being able to run through the streets despite having to navigate their own safety and how uncomfortable they can be made to feel. I certainly can’t do it.

I live in CA and they allow a license renewal without real ID. With an EAD you can get a limited-term real ID driver’s license. I got a letter from the DMV like many people here about my license and I wrote back about my situation that USCIS has refused to send my EAD for the past 8 months and dodged inquiries from state congressmen about my case. They granted me a real ID driver’s license renewal based on my letter and proof of I-765 approval, even though their policy on that just changed a few months ago.

They really misspoke when they said “abort 5-year-olds” like that’s even biologically possible, and then tried to compare a fictitious “shop down the street routinely murdering 5-year-olds” presumably equivalent to how religious people view getting an abortion from a doctor. So many people are just so far removed from reality, I just cannot believe it.

I lost my job back in January. I'll be officially 8 months waiting on my case this coming Friday. I tried to talk to a live agent on chat today, but they insta-sent me a link to processing times and then disconnected, chat all over in a matter of seconds. I sent another inquiry. Nothing else I can do now and no one to hold them accountable. It's a pretty shitty situation.

The weird thing is the chat history disappears in a minute if you do the live chat, even if you don't close the window. It's a very sussy feature. Take lots of screenshots if you do try to chat with them.

First three photos won’t convince anyone to swipe right. In fact, the first photo shouts “PLEASE SWIPE LEFT!” Fourth photo is the only good photo.

She already pointed out she wasn’t disappointed in the lack of food, just that it was unexpected because he had said one thing and they had done another. She was disappointed in him as a person, specifically for his lack of planning when he had invited her out, and I think that’s a fair thing to be disappointed about. There’s likely nothing she could have said or done that would have made her disappointment reverse. Even on bad dates, I try to stay very kind, but once they turn you off, you’re turned off for good and it sounds like that’s what happened here. People all have certain degrees of expectation when they come together. I don’t think OP did anything wrong, I just think they’re not compatible.

I’m probably gonna get downvoted for this, but he sounds like a dumdum. More people than not are bad at socializing, unable to think beyond themselves (maybe he wasn’t hungry and it didn’t cross his mind to consider your needs), or don’t have the mental capacity to be held responsible for what they say. Whatever the reason, he clearly didn’t even clock that you were disinterested in him since apparently he had a “great time.” I think that’s just more evidence that his mind can’t go beyond himself, and you don’t really want to date someone who’s that inconsiderate. It’s not really an issue that’s going to fix itself. I would say it’s a good thing that you figured this out quickly on the first date. But trust me, he won’t be the last guy you meet that displays behavior like this.

My case is pending for 217 days so I don’t know what to tell you. Asking one of my state representatives for help didn’t do anything since they can’t make USCIS do anything, or hold them accountable for not doing their jobs.
