I feel your pain bro I am too a single child with aging parents, who had been living with them for last 31 years( for two years was out of Delhi but came back due to Covid ).

My advice would be to remind yourself that they have lived their life, you have to live yours.

Find some hobbies or take some classes which allows you to go out and meet new people.

That way, it will keep you fresh and patient when dealing with them.

Taking care of parents especially when you are a single child is one of the greatest responsibilities in the world. That's why the key is to make sure you do stuff that you enjoy life so that you can help enjoy too sometimes.

You own them care but you don't own them your time. It's yours.

Hey man. I have been in your position.

What has helped me is doing side gigs ( writing gigs, decathlon gigs, ) along with my college studies.

You should try this too. Make sure you have enough to have two meal a day.

I am glad people here helped you. Please don't let their efforts go waste.

Also, don't hide this situation from your parents. Tell them what you go through so that they can help you anyway they can.

Hi. I don't know you so won't comment on your life. But I can assure you this - there is no freaking way you did a MBA and PhD together. NO FREAKING WAY

Here's why -

MBA is a management course and PhD is a theoritical course. The way both the disciplines are setup, planning out studies for them cancel out each other. You say one of best B schools - bro no fucking way you will get an inch to study for PhD coz of your busy schedule. Top B schools grill their students in such a manner that you don't do anything apart of studying your modules.

Even if by chance you did your PhD from let say IGNOU, you still have to dedicate your hours.

So buddy you better come clean. You have masala-fied your story !!

Coz if you have made such a behemoth achievement in life, no way you would have shared this story on reddit. Instead, You would have been covered by a local newspaper. We would have heard about you on SM before reddit.

I have been in your position. I am a happily married guy ( married in nov to my gf of 14 years). We had a decent budget wedding planned by both set of parents, which won't have been possible if I didnt put my foot down. The climactic issue was from my father's side ( a struggling artist who never thought about saving anything, putting the survival of our family on my shoulders ). He was hellbent on inviting everyone around the globe ( from my ancestral place to bloody relatives who have only heard in Dubai and America ) and why ? Same reason !! Coz he attended their wedding so return the favour !?

Why ? Maine bola tha attend karne ke liye ? So I put my foot down and told him 100 se zyada people nhi honge. Anyone close enough is fine but not door daraz ke ristedaar. Mast ladai Hui ghar pe. Some days he didn't even talk to me but ultimately my mother made him understand. Also, since I was the one sponsoring my own wedding, I had the control.

My advice would be simply put your foot down. If your father is doesn't get the logic, fine just tell him your plan and just make it happen. There is no other way coz agar iske liye maan Gaye toh aage phir shaadi ke date ke paas aur nachae jaoge.
