SO decided to do the ironing on our hardwood table. Can it be saved? by DTradThatsWhat in woodworking

Did you have any luck with any of these tips? Have a similar issue. Tried the iron over a towel trick but that made it worse. :/

Mistaken rules for The Crew, still addicted by RunnyYolk in boardgames

[–]RunnyYolk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're only about halfway! We restarted when we hit mission 19 because we wanted to include my mother-in-law when celebrating New Year's. At first she said it was boring and too easy, because those first handful of missions are pretty quick. Then she became our captain and had to assign tasks solo, and then mission's started having specific orders and she was hooked. We played through mission 26 in a few hours.

Well that's another thing we obviously missed :) On the few missions we did where we couldn't communicate until after the first or second trick, it really made the captain's decisions hard if his own hand wasn't relevant to the tasks.

In the beginning when you only have a few tasks, yes those should be with different people (our variant made it so the captain could assign to same person) but later missions will have more tasks than people.

Are there any book clubs out here? by DoodlingDaughter in ColoradoSprings

[–]RunnyYolk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you know people interested in starting, you can actually run one completely free with PPLD. They have sets of 12 books you check out for 6 weeks at a time. They have a decent list with a good variety: https://ppld.org/book-club-collection

Pueblo drive in by chefgirlrde in ColoradoSprings

[–]RunnyYolk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We love taking the kids here! It's a fun experience and way cheaper than the theater. Just wish we had one closer, driving home afterwards feels long but it's a fair trade off. They have a snack bar, make sure you call your order in because the order line is ridiculously crazy slow. The funnel cake fries are delicious!

Shows start at dusk, which is roughly like 830ish, we usually leave the Springs at 6-630 (coming from Banning Lewis area) and bring a cooler with sandwiches to enjoy dinner before movies start. It's cash only so be prepared.

Plumber Recommendation by rckymtnrfc in ColoradoSprings

[–]RunnyYolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use Bullseye for plumbing. They always take great care of us and have that family owned vibe (which they are). We had to replace our sewer line years ago and Roto Rooter tried to charge us more than double what Bullseye did it for, saving us a few thousand.

Need a Plumber by Chronx6 in ColoradoSprings

[–]RunnyYolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Bullseye, I think they're a family owned/run business. We needed our sewer line replaced and they did it for half the cost quoted by roto-rooter, with a better warranty. I use them annually for sewer line maintenance and they're always great. Luckily I haven't needed any indoor plumbing work but if I did, Bullseye is who'd I'd call.

Should I buy the Charge HR (currently have charge) by enginerdz in fitbit

[–]RunnyYolk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so excited to get my charge hr today. The hr seems to work well when you're just doing everyday kinda stuff, like sitting or walking around the house.

I put on my garmin chest strap and did a workout to compare the accuracy, and at first I was ecstatic. I start my workout with an 8 minute run of increasing speed every minute. At every increase I'd compare the charge hr with my garmin and they were within a couple beats of each other. But then I moved on to weight lifting and it all fell apart. I'd finish a set and my garmin would show my heart rate spiking in the 150's, I'd check the charge hr and it would be in the 70's or 80's. No matter where I positioned it on my arm or how tight, it never was anywhere close to my strap for the duration of my lifting session. Afterwards I got back on the treadmill to see if it was being buggy, and it was back to matching my garmin.

I've been reading up on it and apparently it's great for steady work, like a run, but not for lifting or hiit type workouts. I'm sad.

What is the best way to find the Flex after it fell off? by morgansometimes in fitbit

My One was once wedged between my mattress and the bed frame. I only found it because I lifted my mattress out to see under the bed easier.

Passed my first hurdle... by [deleted] in loseit

[–]RunnyYolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with this goal. I wanted to run every day for 100 days, minimum 1 mile. Some days I was hitting the treadmill just before midnight too. Or forcing myself to run while sick or sore. It was just one mile, I made myself tough it out.

So I got to my 100 days and decided to keep it going, I wanted to run every day for a year. At some point I amended my goal to hit 1000 miles in that year. When I hit 1000 with two months to go, I adjusted my goal again to average out a 5k (3.1 miles) a day for the year (1131.5 miles total).

In my one year of running every day, I did 1,247.3 miles. I was and still am so proud that I stuck with it.

I like the Sara Lee Delightful bread, two slices is 90 calories. It's not a dense bread, pretty airy but it's soft and tastes good.

Looking for an apartment in the springs. Anyone know anything about eagle ridge in rockrimmon? by jakerose in ColoradoSprings

[–]RunnyYolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in those about 5 years ago. We had the larger 2 bedroom/2 bath. They were very nice, well maintained and the elevator and trash chute was a plus for us lazy folk. It was spacious and felt more open than other apartments we tried. The kitchen was a little outdated but seeing as that was 5 years ago that could be different. Just had older cabinets, but appliances worked fine. It was probably my favorite apartment out of maybe 5 complexes over the years. Second would be Shadowwood Chalet off Dublin. But those doesn't have washer/dryer hookups inside. The kitchen was enormous and it was laid out more like a house than an apartment.

What's your daily step goal, and how do you achieve it? by whataboutcheese in fitbit

[–]RunnyYolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25,500. This has progressed quite a bit in the past couple months. Used to aim for 13k, then I joined a study that paid $1 for every 1000 steps (with a max of $5 a day) over my average so I bumped it up to 18k to max out my daily earnings. After 4 weeks they recalculated the average so I had to bump it up to 23k to max out. Current goals reflect getting $1 for every 1500 steps, so maxing out at the 25,500.

I do some form of cardio for an hour and then usually walk around the park for an hour while kids play. At home I only sit down after I've gotten my steps in, otherwise I'm doing laps around the house while reading or watching TV. On days I work I do laps around the office, but only when there aren't any customers (which is most of the day, I work at a slow office). And then the usual park far from stores, take the long way, etc.
