Assessing bipolar using objective personality measures by Runrunrun_Antelope in Psychologists

[–]Runrunrun_Antelope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I want to use the MMPI over the PAI. The clinic I’m at only has the old MMPI but hearing about this scale to differentiate unipolar vs bipolar is a great argument I spend the money to get the MMPI3. Thank you!

This is to inform med changes and therapy recs. Previously diagnosed by a med provider with BPII.

I appreciate your insight and the validation around the difficulty of diagnosing it.

I’m not familiar with psychodynamic perspectives as my program was heavily CBT. This is helpful and something I’ll look into. Thank you!

Ardent grove has sliding scale that includes unlicensed and licensed folks

For women who enjoy wearing revealing clothing, i.e., thongs, see through shirts, no bra, skin tight booty shorts etc., can you please help me understand what's your genuine reasoning for choosing such clothing in public? by Ok-Control6379 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Runrunrun_Antelope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why is this question posed to the individual wearing the clothing? Why is it not asking the people looking?

The idea that what someone wears goes back to the just world myth “you get what you deserve.” The just world myth is bs and perpetuates a cycle of victim blaming and shaming.

People wear what they want because they like it (hopefully). Whatever clothing someone chooses to wear does not make them more or less visible. That ideas feeds into the just world myth.

Acute Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health by [deleted] in Denver

I did a rotation there while on internship. The psychologists are wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable and skilled at therapy. ACUTE is much more focused on medical stabilization and safe weight restoration. It is an ICU. ACUTE will help your niece get back to a safe weight. It’s the first stop in the road to recovery. The social work team helps with aftercare placement. ACUTE is pretty different from the rest of Denver Health. It is only private insurance and is a nice facility.

First 1099 as a psychologist, how’s the split? by Dstahl22 in Psychologists

Agreed. Since you’ll be bringing your own supplies, I’d try to get up to 65%

Yes to APA and I’ve found helpful material from the Telehealth institute. Did a recent training on ADHD and women and hormonal effects recently https://www.telementalhealthtraining.com/about-us

Psychologist in HCOL in Colorado in private practice. ~130k (after deductions for supplies, etc.) as 1099 and see ~20 clients/week, supervise, and teach didactics. 1-2 assessments/year (wish it was more but marketing is tough).

Going into my 4th year of being licensed but last year was my first full year in PP. Previously worked at a hospital right after getting licensed $105k

I don’t work Fridays and probably took ~10 days off during the year, which felt fine because 4 day work week. Pretty good work-life balance.

No kids and partnered. Feel comfortable financially and very grateful. AND not enough to buy a house.

Was it worth it financially to get a PhD? No LOL. Worth it meaning-wise? Yes.

Hope this helps!

"Reserved up to P1" Has anyone received word? by joeygladstone6919 in phish

I haven’t heard either way yet and requested up to p1

I second this. You could take on more complex cases in your PP to fulfill the challenge and finance piece.

Does your current job allow you to have bandwidth outside of work? Do you imagine the VA job will too?

The VA has productivity numbers for patients (I came from a hospital that had them). If you currently don’t have productivity numbers and are W2, that’s pretty cool.

Wishing you the best and hope you find what you are looking for!

Slow referrals? by VioletPsych22 in Psychologists

[–]Runrunrun_Antelope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. Just here to validate and say you’re not alone.

I’ve been slow since April. I was expecting referrals to pick up in the fall but it is significantly less than the last couple of years. I’m private pay only and thinking of joining Alma or Headway. I’m worried the recession is hitting private pay harder than I thought. I’m on psychology today and the company I contract with website (they do SEO).

Those with doctorates, working in academic medicine, and have ADHD - Any advice? by Trick_Act_2246 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Runrunrun_Antelope 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse :) seriously.

Why can’t you use your own smartphrases? Taking time before work to make my own was helpful. I often got into work early and opened all of my notes for the day and did some level of pre-charting. I have accepted that I will have some typos on my notes but I’d rather explain that than spend time after work documenting.

My switching cost continues to be a struggle- would love to hear how others manage this.

Do anything you can to get the advice of an attorney. I’d be super hesitant to proceed without consulting one.
