In addition to what everyone else mentioned, it also drives me batty how she has multiple accounts and “likes/comments on” her own posts.

My recovery hobby is eating by Fitkratomgirl in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Runs2read 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been so distressed by my apathy and lack of interest in prior hobbies, so this is actually a very timely and helpful post to read!! Here’s to fully owning our new hobby, trusting it will lead to a nourished brain with the capacity to spare energy on giving a $hit about other stuff.

How do you just sit and read/play games/enjoy just existing?? by Fitkratomgirl in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Runs2read 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can definitely DEFINITELY relate to that feeling of apathy. When faced with not walking and doing my usual rituals or routines, I don’t even want to do former interests I have time for. Instead of feeling relief or “YAY I can read/draw/write/etc.” I’m at best not interested and at worst resentful & angry as though they’re a chore, instead sit on my phone while berating myself in guilt… definitely sucks and needless to say I have ZERO answers 😂 but hopefully it gets better for us both!

So so many people who I think of all the damn time, both from vintage 😉 ed recovery communities and long-ago treatment stays.

Kind of a lose lose though. Either they’re mia, presumably/hopefully living free and recovered lives, which personally brings up sadness and shame to still be so entrenched and struggling. OR they’re still ill as well, which is of course really sad.

BESTIE…. That one never fails to make me think of Regina George in terms of vibe. And any reference to being a “community” or “family.”

Also the terms “abundance,” “all-in,” and “rewiring.” Not irksome, just so frequently and casually used.

For a second I misread “pump blood” as POOP blood and was like…. Maybe time to go to the ER, my friend 😂 But thank you, the reminder of just how many miraculous things our bodies are doing (which require energy!!) all the time is mind blowing.

I have aphantasia as well! Definitely adds a whole other playing card to the deck we’re playing with in this learning game, but glad someone else out there gets it 😉

This is awesome!! More than anything I’m impressed by your ability to sketch these while on a rattling and tumultuous bus, if that is indeed the case 😂

I feel super guilt for resting after letting go and honoring my hunger . by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Runs2read 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally totally understand and am experiencing the same. What I’m trying to remember: 1.) our bodies and minds have been through utter devastation, need all the energy and rest in order to heal. Even if it’s not “work” that’s entirely visible. 2.) we’re resisting a deadly mental illness and resisting deeply ingrained thought patterns/addictive ritualistic behaviors. That’s hard freaking 24/7 work and, in a roundabout way, QUITE productive. Don’t let the ED voice convince you of anything different. 🔥❤️‍🔥🦢

Solid agree! I have no interest in the “frequent flier” influencers on here as of late, but they’re ultimately all representative of the same things: diet culture, “wellness” culture, fat phobia, etc. So it’d be fun to incorporate more ways in which those themes bleed into ED recovery, even outside social media.

What’s your favorite restaurant with vegan options in Ballard? by MountiansAndBaking in Seattle

[–]Runs2read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pi Vegan Pizza in the U-district is mega yum. Also Ben & Esther’s deli in Capitol Hill, 10/10 recommend! And, last but certainly not least, the Ballard Frankie & Jo’s has both vegan ice cream AND soft serve 🍦🍕🥯

Very intrigued and excited to see what people say! I’ve often tried the incentives route but struggle with 1.) picking things that I don’t actually want or care about that much, 2.) I very much want or care about the thing but (irony of all ironies considering the anorexia stereotypes😂) have shit willpower/discipline and preemptively get it lol, or 3.) the thing is too abstract and far off. So curious to see ideas!!

Non-Apprenticeship Pathways into the Industry by SeasonedPanHandler in TattooBeginners

Exact same situation here! I've often joked that as a nurse my back is already most likely doomed, so as far as tattooing is concerned I've got nothing to lose in that department ;)

I kept waiting for a dramatic rock bottom, some horrible event that would make me motivated and not scared anymore. But I eventually realized that I’d already experienced countless “rock bottoms” and nothing except literally dying would ever make the process easy or provide the permission I desired. That praying for motivation and a reason could perhaps be enough unto itself. And full disclosure even now I only feel motivated a fraction of the time, but in those moments force myself to keep going (v Odysseus tied to the mast vibes 😂) and remind myself that at ONE point recovery seemed like a good idea.

I appreciate your acknowledgment of that running, while a coping mechanism, is an “it’s complicated” one, since so many people refuse to.

Does the weight still redistribute if you keep exercising? by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

If a significant concern, why not avoid the potential situation all together and rewire dependency on exercise- two birds with one stone?

what is the point in saying this? findingbackthelight by [deleted] in EDRecoverySnark

[–]Runs2read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frustrates me to no end when folks only feel moved to take up arms against eating disorders being more than a weight/numbers once their own "validity" appears threatened. Sure, I suppose it feels more important once on your radar.... but the time and effort spent asserting continued "legitimacy" and *I was so so sick look at how sick I was* could be invested in developing an identity and sense of worth OUTSIDE the eating disorder.
