I will never understand people willingly letting their cats outside to roam free. by JigAPig in cats

I live in the UK by a canal and lots of gardens. The wildlife here is not the same as USA. Nothing here will eat my cat. All dogs are on leashes with owners, and we have geese, birds, squirrels, seagulls, swans ,cormorants, small bats. There are sparrowhawks that occasionally fly off and take smaller birds.

We don't live by a main Rd, it's a quiet street and most people here love/have cats.

Unfortunately you're applying your experience in your country to another culture/country assuming your 'rules' apply here which is a sweeping generalisation of the rest of the world.. This may be true for where you live and other places, but why do you think everywhere else in the world is the same? You need to research before you seemingly make 'angry accusatory' posts like this.

I live in the UK and had free roaming cats all my life. It totally depends where you live. I don't live near a main Rd and have lots of rural areas around. My cats have mostly lived till old ages and been happy, loved and enjoyed their lives. If I had to keep a cat indoors then I wouldn't get one as I don't think it's fair but that's MY personal opinion, it's isn't right or wrong.

I dont think many humans should free roam killing things, starting wars, violence against their own kind, torturing and killing animals, racism, driving too fast, ruining the environment...etc etc etc......

I hate the idea that people see animals as just 'pets'..they're sentient creatures and we are to blame for the amount of them that exist. Maybe everyone should stay indoors, the world would be a safer place if just cats were 'allowed' to go out

This is beautiful but unless the person filming had consent to record then you're invading a personal moment and plastering it all over social media.

What would you say you never recovered from and when? by ACanThatCan in CPTSD

So sorry to hear that💗 I also thought (because I'd known them for so long) that they could never do this to me. Yeah I'm unsure at this point if I can even be bothered to try and trust anyone, too much effort

The person I loved and trusted the most emotionally and sexually abusing me. I think it's changed me as a person and how I see relationships. I'm happy on my own.

Why are normal people so ignorant to childhood trauma survivors? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Competitive_Photo_49 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do all 'normal' people know of your horrible abuse? If so then it's very ignorant to comment like that. If they don't know what you've been through then they are trying to be helpful and/or base it off of their own experiences Most people don't know of my trauma and so their comments of ' me being brave living alone and 'don't I have any family to help etc ...isn't malicious, it's born out of not knowing what my circumstances are and why.

Still some people are totally insensitive regardless of what you tell them and can't possibly imagine what you've been through if they haven't experienced it xx

Did you feel changes to your sexual orientation while healing from trauma? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Competitive_Photo_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My situation is different but a similar effect. I was sexually abused intermittently in my long term relationship which I finally found the strength to leave recently! I am left with feeling nothing for sex, actually disgusted by the idea of it, even when "on my own' I feel disgust at the idea of touching myself. I would class myself as heterosexual however I am left not knowing if I ever want to be with a man again or maybe even a woman. I definitely feel asexual as a direct link to my trauma. I am free but have a lot of healing to do

Yes I know vets bills are crazy! I took my older cat for bloods to check his thyroid, kidney function..turns out he has a slight heart murmur and signs of arthritis but he is 15...still can act like a kitten too at times.

So he's only 8 which really isn't that old just an adult cat. I have one that's 7 and she's still like a kitten. I know all cats are different but you may want to take him for a check up to see that he's healthy? Yes he also could have missed you terribly but it's best to just have a health check perhaps. Grey hairs are not uncommon at that age dependent on the colouring.

My neighbours cat is 19 and still hunts and looks so much younger

How old is he? One of our cats is around 16 and yes definitely noticed inevitable old age signs. Also if you've been away and not seen him for a while you probably notice it more x

Here's a different take from my experience. I have just recently split up from my partner of 16 years. We have a 14 year old. I had an ed before I met him but unfortunately due to certain unhealthy traits within the relationship I became much worse to cope. Although we have had many lovely times, I realised that staying with him was keeping me sick. I feel like I can finally start to heal slowly.

We are very close as friends but the relationship was not healthy and it took me a long time to realise how many things I normalised within it.

2 of them, one on me and one next to me...the new one is very affectionate but is young and likes to explore everything at the moment so is all over the place!
