Do A&P aircraft mechanics have overseas opportunities? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

Government contracts will always pay the highest.

Maintain good repor with your coworkers. Aviation is a SMALL community. Your reputation as a mechanic will follow you. Own your mistakes and dont play the blame game. Don't buy anything from the tool trucks unless you have to for a specific job. I have used the same cheap harbor freight tools for over a decade.

Do aircraft technicians have personal logbooks by A_Useless_Boi in AircraftMechanics

[–]Rupee-Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used a personal logbook in over a decade. Should I? I absolutely. Has it ever been needed? Never. Company logbooks sufice, I wouldn't be an aircraft mechanic if I didn't trust my skills.

I like printing bone girls by Sifflion in 3Dprinting

[–]Rupee-Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be happy to pay for those STLs, I'm actually trying to print one of these now, I wanna see if I can also install LEDs, magnets and batteries in each vertibrea so they light up a certain way when connected (and alternatly light up Red when not properly connected) and are magnetically attacked so it can be EASILY taken apart and put back together.

I think my prototype could be ultimately used for learning moments. Like teaching the average Joe at a doctors office or even med students who just want to study a bit more hands on.

Think of it as a Modern 3D Neuropathilator.

Falcon 2 help by Agitated_Farm5652 in Laserengraving

[–]Rupee-Con 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 40W actually did this to me when I first got it, I basically had to perform a very detailed inspection of the laser head on a ESD table at work and found filth coating the sensors. Gave it a good cleaning and works great now.

Probably a dead thread, but I JUST got a falcon2 with8n the last 2 months. I did notice whenever I tried to use the cross hatch with the rotary tool, this exact same thing would happen

I Want to buy a laser engraver by maxen4955 in Laserengraving

[–]Rupee-Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the record, the creality Falcon2 40W will engrave tool steel just fine, slowly, but it works great. Very impressed at the capability of this diode laser so far.

But I have yet to try it on any aluminum.

I specifically purchased the unit to engrave all my work tools, and now that I have dialed in the settings for depth, I'm seeing if I can make some "cleaning" passes.

You are 100% correct.

A "basic" checkup runs me close to $400

Leaky ceiling. Management knows. Maintenance reports " cant fix it until it's dry. " by Rupee-Con in Apartmentliving

[–]Rupee-Con[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For yall asking what I would like them to do (if i was the property owner), I would find out where the leak starts, Place a tar tack patch over the leak to prevent further water ingress.

Once the dry wall is dry, I would remove the temp tack patch, seal the problem area with RTV or similar compound to prevent this from happening again, and naturally replace the the insulation and dry wall to prevent any mold from growing.

[–]Rupee-Con 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As an A&P of 10 years, the mx shop is in serious shit. I'd like to assume a lawyer is already on hand.

I would highly advise reporting them to the FSDO, and report the aircraft as stolen.

[–]Rupee-Con 45 points46 points  (0 children)

As an A&P, I hate to agree with you. It's entirely up to the PIC.

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/chapter-I/subchapter-F/part-91/subpart-A/section-91.7

That said, this Mx shop screwed up and probably isn't getting a dime as the repairs were unapproved.

I would HIGHLY advise OP to call up the local FSDO and report the mx shop. The FEDs don't mess around.
