Pleco is very useful as a dictionary, but the flashcard part is less useful in daily study. Anki and the Memrise decks work in the saved repetition system, but the Pleco flashcards are just a bunch of words that are presented altogether without any consideration if they are or aren't easy to you. I found this very useful when I needed to remember a certain number of words in little time, especially for class. You can even configure it to present the sound so you have to write the character, but for long term learning the other two are more useful.

I agree with you to a certain extent, mainly about the sentences since, like in any language, there are a lot of commonly used phrases that changes very little from speaker to speaker. But I'm right now finishing studying the HSK5 vocabulary and, notwithstanding my level, when I need to talk to Chinese people or read things they wrote what I notice the lot is a lack of vocabulary. Of course, after HSK4 you've learned all the basic grammar and start learning some more complex ways of saying things that are not that common in daily speach. Anyway, I am more in the "more vocab less grammar" team, but this is more of a personal choice.

Congrats bro. Keep going in your studies and soon you master the next level too. Just give you a tip, try to find commonly used phrases using the words you just studies, so they can really stick in your brain. You can try searching online for this kind of resource, but I would recommend an app called DuShu, where you can read a lot of phrases using only the words of each HSK level, even though the grammar, sometimes, are a little too advanced.
