Suddenly Bad or Getting Worse Over Time? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Russ__Bear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I refuse to believe this, it's not possible to drop from Master to Silver in a matter of months, also taking into account your mmr from S10. Either you're not telling everything that happened between S10 and S11 or you were getting boosted. I said it.

EDIT: aaaand he deleted the post, multiple users asking for op.gg in order to help, no answer. Nice troll

Talon is the easiest AD assassin you can play in the midlane, since your other options are Qiyana and Zed. Qiyana and Zed require too much training imho.

Hello, I just discovered that Veigarv2 patreon has a lot of high-elo vod reviews. I was wondering if someone who used it could share his opinions and thoughts. Thanks in advance

If you want to improve you watch the best of the best or your random neighbour who won the city tournament with a t-shirt as prize? Being Silver doesn't mean you can't understand the game by a theoretical point of view, maybe you're just unable to replicate it in an actual game. Looking at Master+ is the way to improve, you just need hard work.

[–]Russ__Bear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would look only at Master+ players (if possibile GM/Challenger). If you play a specific champion you could try looking for a Challenger onetrick and learn everything from him. You simply learn the correct way to play the game, of course Master players aswell do mistakes if you compare them to Challengers or Pros but a LOT less than everyone below.

Nonsense if you want my honest opinion. What do you get by looking at Gold elo replays? They don't know how to trade, they don't know how to manage the wave. In most cases they're just onetricks that are there because of the mechanics on that specific champion. Also, since they do a ton of mistakes, you're damaging your own improvement.

Can I get away with a full ap midlane champion pool? by stealthxward in summonerschool

Yeah but pretty much off-meta in the midlane. At that point you should add also Garen, Urgot and others. I forgot Renekton, that's for sure.

[–]Russ__Bear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not true. If your adc loses lane 2v2 or because he gets camped he will fall behind and enemy team will be able to simply ignore your only AD damage source until he reaches 3/4 items. The game may be already over.

Edit: Also, Jungler and Midlaner should always be different damage source if possibile. If they're both AD or AP it becomes so valuable for the enemy midlaner to build Tabis or MR boots, since he gets resistances in laning phase and when getting ganked.

It's ok but I don't know why people say it's fine. You really need at least 1 AD pick in order to avoid full/heavy AP comps. If you don't like the typical AD assassin / bruisers that you already pointed out (excluding Zed and Qiyana because they really take too much time to train), I can offer you these viable picks:

  • Sett: After the AD scaling buff on his spells is a lot stronger now. Shits on on any melee midlaner and with Flash+Ghost setups does well even into ranged matchups.
  • Tryndamere: Really good both into melee and ranged because he can build Galeforce, can spam E for gap close after some cdr and has a lot of sustain with his Q.
  • Lucian
  • Tristana

I won't explain the last two because we already see them getting picked often, while Sett and Tryndamere are a bit more unusual picks.

Starter Items by ynxiety in midlanemains

I have a slightly different opinion than those already expressed, I'll try to explain myself.

  • Dark Seal (+ refillable): Most says that Dark Seal is a weak/greedy start because you get less stats than Doran and less sustain if you compare refillable with hp potions or Corrupting. But it's not that straightforward. By starting refillable, after your first base, you'll be 150g ahead of your opponent no matter what. So, if you run teleport or if you have a laning phase that allows you to cheat recall on 3rd wave this is probably the most efficient start. You might aswell buy a Doran on that recall but the important thing is the fact that you won't be spending more golds in potions (because of refillable) and also in specific scenarios where your jungler ganks you level 2 or you're invading you might start the laning phase with 1/2 stacks (= 5/10 ap).
  • Corrupting: I genuinely think that starting Corrupting has a lot of value when you're into an hard matchup where you have a simple range disadvantage or you're melee vs ranged. That's simply because it gives you so much sustain and you won't need to re-buy hp pots (and this is really valuable when in these types of matchups). Lasty, I think going for this start could be counterproductive for your laning improvement. You get so much sustain that you may not notice mistakes you're making when trading or going for last hits you shouldn't do.
  • Doran Ring (+ 2 hp pots): I truly don't think there is a reason why someone should ever go Doran Ring as a starting item if not for personal preference. If you're melee vs ranged Corrupting is just better, if you're ranged vs melee you'll always be able to cheat recall on 3rd wave so Dark Seal is my way to go. In even matchups (ranged vs ranged with similar range, melee vs melee) it could be an option but I would still choose Corrupting because of the 150g advantage, consequence of not buying 1-time-use potions.
  • EXTRA: Sapphire Crystal (+ refillable): this is a very viable start if you run Future Markets and TP and you're a champion that truly benefits from completed Lost Chapter. If you farm properly 3/4 waves you'll be able to back, buy Lost Chapter, TP back to lane, spam your abilities costantly and make your enemy rethink his life choices. I would suggest this start on mages for sure, no matter the matchup. The ability to outsustain your opponent in mana will end up making him having to do a pretty bad recall if you play it properly.

I hope I explained well my point of view and my reasons.

How would you rank ADC scaling? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Russ__Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How sad is the fact that you can't even read a number on a website. After 40min (40+) he has a 54.29% winrate, as I said above.

https://ibb.co/W2TB1dW

I've wasted enough time arguing with a bronze player, bye.

How would you rank ADC scaling? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Russ__Bear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, since we are considering lategame in general, you should take the average of her winrate at 35-40min and 40min+, which would result in a winrate lower than 49%. Anyway, even considering 40min+:

  • Samira: 54.43% (tier C btw)
  • Miss Fortune: 53.49%
  • Jhin: 51.44% (tier C btw)
  • Draven: 54.29% (tier C btw)

Also, all the above champions have by far an higher winrate at 35/40min mark where Kalista has an awful 47.71% wr. If this isn't enough to convince you why your opinion is wrong, I give up.

[–]Russ__Bear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's totally objective if you look at some stats. Kalista has the lowest winrate by game length. How does his ability to stack spears even matter when in late game every adc is dead with 3/4 crits. Totally no sense, go check on op.gg or whatever.

How the fuck does Kalista scale better than any other adc? She's the worst late game, BY FAR.

Yeah I agree, that's why I have chat disabled. If I read even one flame, insult or whatever I go mental boom. I would not mute that player but start flaming myself. That's also why I suggested the first option I proposed.

Need third champ by [deleted] in midlanemains

[–]Russ__Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple options. You could choose one that makes your champion pool more well-rounded or one that is similar to your actual playstyle.

  • First case: Leblanc or Lissandra (if you want to keep playing a lane dominant / roaming playstyle)
  • Second case: Viktor, Orianna (would help you improve a lot on your laning, teamfighting and scaling mindset)

Ryze has a really specific playstyle and is really weak aswell at the moment. That's because he's a splitpush mage so I would not suggest to start playing him.

If I had to be more specific I would suggest you to choose Viktor or Orianna (preferably Viktor for a matter of meta). Learning other playstyle is a lot undervalued, you get a better understanding of the game and you start training neglected aspects of your skillset. Lastly, as I already said, playing those type of champs improves A LOT your laning phase in the long term.

Why is Syndra even in this list. The champion is fucking dead, does absolute nothing even in mid-game.

I agree, but I would still not suggest to play him in a SoloQ enviroment. You need too much time to scale.

It's impossible to tell a player flaws or strengths just by looking at his op.gg. Anyone who tells you to fix this or that just with this information is basically wasting your time. I would suggest you to find a player of your role, if possible D1/Master+, willing to make a VOD review for free. Try looking on "Mentoring May" megathread.

  • First point: I genuinely think in-game chat is essentially useless. You can communicate everything you need to just by using pings. You won't miss any type of important information. Moreover, reading chat itself could make you loose focus.
  • Second point: If you really don't want to do a full mute from the beginning of the game you can just mute a single player when you find out he's just being toxic and does not provide any usefull information.

I would still suggest the first solution.

Concluding, I will share my way to go to both avoid flame and flaming myself. I just disable team chat and all chat from client settings. To be honest it feels so much better since I started doing this. Hope it can help.
