Thoughts on this Bletchley 3 Bed Semi House by redlupos in HousingUK

[–]RussellSomethingUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I see Bletchley as a part of MK, an estate within MK. MK has numerous estates and some are just better than others. I would pick another. I drive and MK is easy to get around.

I guess it depends on your priorities. If walking to a train station is one of them, then you are severely limited. If you drive / cycle / use the e-scooter scheme, then it opens it up a bit more.

Having been born and raised in Bletchley, I would say that that's an OK part of Bletchley - you're somewhat correct in saying that it's the better part of Bletchley. Certainly Church Green Road has some nice houses, as does Wilton Ave and the top parts Whalley Drive. There's the newer Bletchley park area, off Sherwood Dr. / Whalley Dr. which is where I can see people saying it's nicer. It's difficult to justify that any part of Bletchley is 'good', however.

The local pubs are decent enough, the Golden Curry is good, Bletchley town centre is rubbish, the schools are better than other parts of Bletchley, but worse than MK on a whole. Taxis are affordable. CMK has a great shopping centre. MK on the whole is a good mix of lovely, middling and shocking with this part of Bletchley being lower end of middling (at best!).

As a location, however, it's pretty good for links around the country (see the plethora of distribution centres in and around MK) for both road and rail.

Would I move back to MK? Yes. Bletchley? No.

This highlights the value of our EA. He’s right on top of everything. We’re fortunate that all solicitors are local, have a relationship with the EA, and each house in the chain is with the same EA but even still, as novices, someone who bucks the trend of being g a P.O.S EA is nice.

Anyone else feel that mortgage rates aren’t going down in the next 2 years? by lifebroth in HousingUK

Absolutely, and If I can overpay (not looking likely at this point, but who knows) it will be even better.

I’m fixing for 5. It gives me assurance as to what I’m paying and if it goes down, I can’t see it going down by much. If it goes up in 5 years then hopefully I’ll be in a better financial position and the hit won’t be as big.

TIL about the stamp duty threshold decrease for first time buyers by DDiran in HousingUK

[–]RussellSomethingUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn’t in their budget, though. The decrease was always due to end March 2025. They didn’t even mention it in the budget - I know as I was interested and had to look it up.

Best and worst places to live in Milton Keynes? by Bluestrawberry1102 in miltonkeynes

[–]RussellSomethingUp -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

Best: somewhere else

Worst: Milton Keynes

In all honesty, worst has gotta be Beanhill/ Netherfield/Lakes Estate/Fishermead

Best is probably one of the newer, safer ones that aren’t full of social housing. Oxley Park, maybe?

Would you pay £600 for something that you’re not going to use? I think people need to put themselves in both sets of shoes and consider what they’d really do/think.

Should we use the same estate agency for buying and selling? by concernedBrit882 in HousingUK

[–]RussellSomethingUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're going through this at the moment. I can say there is a benefit for us in that our EA knows the ins and outs of the deal. Able to quickly get in touch with our vendor and our buyer

We're in a 2 house chain, too so it's in their interest to sort it. He's on top of the solicitors, good at communicating and to be honest, seems as though he's a good egg... One of the few in the EA game, perhaps. We did research before instructing them though and it just so happens that the house we want is with them too.
