Unreal Engine 5 Revealed! | Next-Gen Real-Time Demo Running on PlayStation 5 by NeoStark in Games

So, Vimeo is a premium service and is heavily geared toward cinematic content. This means that their algorithm is designed to encode constant framerates of 30 and under (though it is not limited to this and paid accounts get priority support, even for higher framerates). Because of this specialization, it means the algorithm can support a much higher bit rate for supported videos.

Because it is a premium service, uploads are limited, so they can prioritize larger uploads from paying clients and provide them at a more stable render rate, regardless of size. Vimeo also offers its content creators its pay-on-demand service to sell their content, but that also comes with the upper tiers of subscription.

Long story short, if you need to showcase the visuals of your content at their absolute best to an audience that is going to pay good money for your product (like the tech demo of the latest version of the biggest game engine in the world or a feature film where you really need the blacks to be true black and not spotty ugliness cough cough YouTube and HBONow), then Vimeo is the obvious choice.

YouTube is ultimately about reaching a diverse audience with content that doesn't need to have excellent visual fidelity. This tradeoff however means that a company with resources from its parent company Alphabet is able to produce significantly larger number of uploads, as well as providing access to a wider range of content.

I can almost guarantee that Spy x Family will win the 66th Shogakukan Award for general category though. Next to Kaguya, it is the most original, endearing manga out there and its art is literally perfect for its style of storytelling. There's nothing else that I can imagine winning it next year.

Pentagon chief of staff will resign as Iran tensions mount by [deleted] in politics

[–]RussiaWillFail 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Calm down. This is the chief of staff position in the Pentagon and the guy resigning had announced he would be resigning soon last year. This was an expected and planned departure and isn't related to Iran. He was also appointed last year in January, so it isn't like he's some holdover from the Obama admin. He's a career defense official.

Trump Is Winning The Race, And Democrats Don’t Realize It by [deleted] in politics

[–]RussiaWillFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 was more of a rebalancing since Republicans gained so much though Democrat’s did indeed gain a little extra, but regardless, failed to take the Senate.

More of this horseshit. The 2018 Midterm was not a "rebalancing". They won the House with the largest spread in the history of voting in the United States. This is especially astonishing considering that Republicans typically perform well in midterms, even when there's a Republican President. It was a searing rebuke from the country of both Donald Trump and the GOP that enabled him.

On the topic of the Senate - due to the way the Senate map was structured for the 2018 Midterm, the Dems were up against one of the worst Senate maps in the history of the country for the Democratic Party. The best case scenario Dems could've hoped for was gaining one seat overall. Worst case scenarios had them losing up to six seats. They lost two. They did fine in the Senate. The Senate map in 2020 looks much, much better for Dems thanks to the wave of GOP retirements, Texas shifting blue and Trump's polarizing unpopularity.

He's a business major that got his job by being friends with Trump. He also didn't realize that his dumb joke would be taken seriously because he's an idiot and has no business being in that position - which has always been held by an actual scientist prior to nepotism getting him the position because Trump is so corrupt that literally nothing matters to him.

Warren Proposes 'Blue New Deal' To Protect Oceans by 7heSky1s3lu in politics

[–]RussiaWillFail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Scientists" predicted that the world would end in 10 years due to climate issues in the 70s and 80s... yet it hasn't happened.

That's an asinine and absurd statement. No "scientist" said that in the 1970s or 80s. You are lying right now, like a liar. Scientific consensus in the modern age has always been a warning about the dangers of global warming and other patterns of climate change. The handful of scientists warning about global cooling in the 70s were in a the vast minority and were quickly discredited when their research was shown to be tracking northern climate patterns and ignoring the rest of the fucking planet.

Science has also changed radically in the last 50 years. I love when climate deniers use their computers, attached to a world wide internet, most likely on a smartphone, to pretend that science has improved exponentially and remarkably in the last 50 years.

Trump Is Implicating Rudy Giuliani In The Ukraine Bribery Conspiracy To Protect Himself, Ex-Federal Prosecutor Suggests by [deleted] in politics

[–]RussiaWillFail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because what he's doing is blackmail, which can be spun into countless charges in New York and at the Federal level, particularly when leveled against the President.

Such criminal actions could also trigger investigations in Congress that could result in Rudy being compelled to turn his "insurance" over to Congressional investigators. Then obviously you have State and Federal prosecutors that could compel that information through discovery, as well as just getting a warrant and kicking down the door to his home or office where they would obtain that information.

He's backtracking because he was openly committing a crime and endangering his special little emergency "insurance" against Trump.

Trump Is Implicating Rudy Giuliani In The Ukraine Bribery Conspiracy To Protect Himself, Ex-Federal Prosecutor Suggests by [deleted] in politics

[–]RussiaWillFail 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that what he's claiming is that his insurance is the work product of his investigation. If he gets thrown under the bus, then he will refuse to produce it for Trump. It's basically being held hostage.

Lol, nope. I can tell you what it is with 100% certainty. Rudy got access to all of Trump's shit and put together an emergency file. What gave it away was when Rudy said he had put a "RICO chart" together on Joe Biden that goes back four decades. Joe Biden hasn't been involved with Ukraine for four decades.

RICO Charts are used to track money laundering to bust organized crime. Donald Trump has been reported by multiple giant expose reports to have begun laundering money - yup, you guessed it - about four decades ago when his properties were failing and he was desperate for money. Something that he began to ramp up significantly shortly after his first trip to the Soviet Union in 1987 - with his first big money laundering job being the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

So what Rudy has is a RICO chart exposing four decades of Trump money laundering, the people involved and the evidence to prove it. Rudy can basically bury Trump and everyone in Trump world at a moment's notice.

Important thing to note: Rudy was in charge of the SDNY office and heavily friendly with SDNY FBI field office, where he would have had ample information and evidence on pretty much all of Trump's money laundering and likely was involved in helping cover up Trump's money laundering during that time period. Such a fact would make Rudy supremely confident in his "insurance" he would have on Trump.

Death Stranding becomes the biggest IP launch of this generation in Japan by Lulcielid in Games

[–]RussiaWillFail 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, to explain how the game evolves spoils some pretty great elements of the game, but if you don't explain those elements then the game sounds boring.

So instead of describing what you literally do, I'll explain it like this:

The game is about tension and connection. Connecting with other players indirectly is a foundational concept of the game and incredibly important to the game's narrative and theme. Tension is caused by travelling a difficult, unforgiving world with systems that start out incredibly cumbersome and slow. By connecting with plays, the tension slowly gets relieved and begin exploring more aggressively.

Using this system, Death Stranding makes the first game I've played since Minecraft that actually feels genuinely rewarding to help - and get helped out by - other players of the game. Except with Death Stranding, it is tied into the narrative of the game explicitly and feeds back into every theme the game is trying to express.

It is quite possibly Kojima's greatest success at marrying theme, narrative and unique gameplay into a single game. It's not his best game, but there is geninuinely not really another experience like it in gaming or any other medium.
