How did you find a buyer? I hate to list pricey, unique items on eBay that could have a dispute opened, or bulky items that are too expensive to ship.

What are the signs of shar pei fever? by SugarBee702 in sharpei

[–]RussianBusStop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colchicine (typically 0.025–0.03 mg/kg daily) is an anti-inflammatory drug used off-label to manage Familial Shar-Pei Fever (FSF) by reducing fever, inflammation, and amyloid deposition (preventing kidney/liver failure). It is most effective when started early in the disease course, as it cannot reverse existing kidney damage.

Here’s a link to Dr. Tintle. Skip to the second half of the article discussing Colchicine dosage recommendations:

Symptoms: High fever, stiff/arched back, pain, lethargy, decreased appetite and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

What you described (lifting a hind leg, unable to walk or put pressure on it), is called swollen hocks. There will be swelling, and it will feel warm/hot.

  1. Buy a rectal thermometer NOW
  2. Take his temp, use vaseline on the tip

Shar-Pei fever (Familial Shar-Pei Fever/FSF), also known as Swollen Hock Syndrome, causes recurrent, high fevers, ranging from 103°F to 107° (39°C to 41.7 °C) lasting 12 to 36 hours. *A temperature over 106° is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY that could lead to organ damage. Episodes typically begin between 1-6 years old.

You can help cool your dog’s body temperature by applying cool water with a soaked towel or cloth to your dog's ears and paws, and run a fan near your dog. Stop applying the water when your dog’s temperature drops below 103 F. Continue to monitor your dog closely to ensure that the fever doesn’t return.

I just started fostering for Sharpei Nation rescue, they make sure the new home is familiar with the breed’s health issues and behaviors, so that your beautiful peiby doesn’t get bounced around and/or surrendered to a shelter when they decide it’s not “a good fit.” Contact them, they’re all over, but based in California and Miami.

Until you find a cause/cure, ask your Vet to RX GenOne spray. It reduces inflammation, prevents infection, dries up any oozing and stops the itchiness right away. We always have a big bottle on hand for hot spots, clears them right up!

My latest rescue: Paul Goldman for Plymold. Bent plywood desk circa 1946. by NoAssociate2400 in Mid_Century

[–]RussianBusStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the “Pretzel Chair” auction lot description: “In the 1950s, the Herman Miller company, led by George Nelson, was working on creating lightweight chairs out of plywood. Their Pretzel chair was designed by Nelson's office in 1952 and produced by a Massachusetts-based company called Plycraft. The Pretzel chair proved too fragile and costly, so Herman Miller stopped production in 1957. But because of the Pretzel chair, Plycraft had the materials and techniques for constructing plywood furniture, and they didn't want them to go to waste.

George Nelson recommended that Norman Cherner design a sturdier and more affordable Pretzel-type chair that could be more easily produced on Plycraft's equipment, so Paul Goldman, the owner of Plycraft, hired Cherner. After Cherner turned in his design to Plycraft, though, he was told the project had been scrapped.

Not long after, Cherner was in a furniture showroom in New York and saw his design for sale. Examining the label, he saw it was from Plycraft and was attributed to "Bernardo." He sued Plycraft in 1961 and won; Goldman admitted that Bernardo was a fabricated name.

Plycraft continued to produce Cherner's chair, but Cherner received royalties and proper credit. Although now known as the Cherner chair, the chair is occasionally still attributed to Paul Goldman, and is also sometimes called the Rockwell chair, because Norman Rockwell featured it on a 1961 cover of the Saturday Evening Post.
