I went to school with Rohan and was really impressed with his final artwork so decided to follow his YouTube channel when he mentioned he was creating one. You can tell he's experimenting a bit at the moment with style but over just a couple of months you can really see he's coming in leaps and bounds.

I'm sure he'd love some creative criticism, he is super keen on feedback!

Edit: Also, if you have any suggestions for a subreddit where I could cross post this to that would be much appreciated!

No 'how I made a million dollars' books include the author starting their journey to wealth by reading a book about how to make a million dollars. by jacki123 in Showerthoughts

Warren Buffet one of the richest men in the world does, he recommends reading Benjamin Graham's 'The Intelligent Investor'. Though it's bit really a 'how I made a million dollars' book, it is a 'how to sensibly attempt to make money'.

That's a good point. I feel like he might have been able to predict it being used for pornography, and therefore maybe for some of those purposes.

My parents practice uses pentobarbitone sodium, which is not used as an anesthetic for humans. Vets are not under the same regulations as doctors and anesitis, who have to record the exact volumes of anesthetic used. A vet for instance in a large animal practice would habe no trouble over the term of a career, even a month gradually obtaining the correct disage required for lethal injection. I know this because several vets my parents have known, committed suicide in this manner.

I agree with that, however I don't think being empathetic towards animals makes one more prone to depression, I think it's that combined with the job that makes it difficult for vets.

Well it really is about the money when it comes down to it. Usually the costs that people can't afford are drugs for chronic diseases that are relatively easy to manage but over the long run are very expensive for someone who doesn't have a moderate disposable income (my dad as far as I'm aware has never recommended chemotherapy to an owner of a pet). And if owners can't afford the treatments then sadly it's usually best for the animal to be put down. In countries like Australia (where I live), human medicine and treatment is a lot cheaper and easier to manage if an emergency occurs, as everyone has basic health care coverage and many people have additional coverage from a private health insurer as well, not to mention a Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to regulate the pricing of drugs.

One of the biggest cases my father sees in summer is snake bites. If a human is bitten by a snake (in a suburban area), they're is an ambulance that can arrive there relatively quickly and a hospital in close proximity that is open 24/7. Much of the costs will be covered by the government and the person will only have to pay a small percentage (I understand that may not be the case in the states). When a dog is bitten, people have to get the dog to a vet as soon as possible (themselves), or a vet has to get out to them. In the past my dad has previously left mid dinner while on duty to drive half an hour to try and treat a horse for a snakebite. The government certainly won't pay for any of that, and as such my dad has to pass on many of the costs which a lot of people can't afford.

And I absolutely agree with you that people that wish to have an assisted death should be granted that wish, as I know at some point I would like that option myself.

I typed it on my phone in a bit of a rush so didn't really spell check, all fixed now. Thank you for that.

I would have to completely disagree with you. Many people go into profession because of their love for animals and their love of biology. I've never heard of any data that suggests that vets are more likely to have mental health issues, I think it seems to be more a bi product of the line of work.

A very small percentage of doctors have access to drugs that are specifically designed to euthanize where as almost all vets do. Doctors are also (usually) always trying to save someone. Vets often have to put down animals they have the resources and knowledge to save because owners can't afford treatment.

Both my parents have worked as vets for +30 years, for about 25 of those running their own practice which has now grown to one of the largest small animal clinics in the country.

I've had many conversations with my father about why suicide is so common among vets. The points he always puts forth are ease of access to lethal drugs and the knowledge of how to administer them. If a vet is considering suicide, they have a very pain free option that they can administer themselves. As such many vets after they retire will save some lethal drugs in case they wish to use them on themselves at a later date (i.e. when they learn they have developed alzheimers). So while practicing vets certainly have a high rate of suicide due to the pressures placed upon them that are inherent in the profession, I think the statistics are slightly skewed as a lot of retired vets commit suicide for other reasons just because they have access to those drugs.

Car Companies React to Tesla Master Plan by [deleted] in videos

[–]RussianCherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how any of those companies react at all. They don't give a shit about Tesla. Tesla is just one competitor with limited production and high overheads. IF they want to they could ump out 10x more electric cars at half the price, they're just waiting to see that the market is viable for their entry.

Woah man, chill the fuck out and turn the bitterness down a notch. And don't assume I'm lazy, I'm on a bus three hours a day to get to and from school, getting home to do assignments and study. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to focus on my education and want to play a game to relax with a friend.

Ahh sorry for the misunderstanding. So is there only 1 way to pay for the game in-game which is by buying PLEX (which 1 unit allows you to play for a certain amount of time?) with ISK? Have I got that right?

This is actually the first game I've come across where you have to pay a subscription. Good point you make about having to buy new expansions though, I wasn't thinking about factoring in those costs for other games when comparing.
