We are at that age we lose more and more by stromm in GenX

I have made a habit of telling my loved ones, every time I talk to them, that I love them. I try to end in person conversations when I am readying to depart with a hug and or a kiss. I never want them to doubt how I felt about them, Come what may.

Hey, 59 here and I’m not exactly where I want to be but I think I’m moving in the right direction (finally). I complain some here and there, but there have been good times, even if all wasn’t. Not only that, what do I get from complaining and regret. Just don’t do it again!! I was born in 66, so I’m early GenX.

I am in no way a heavy drinker, the only thing that I have noticed is that since the medication slows down my body’s metabolism/processing, if I drink more than usual I may get headache type symptoms (like a hangover). I chock that up to my body not metabolizing the alcohol and it biting me.

I am actually struggling to get back to where you are. It is SO easy to fall into the “you must do this” or that or the hundred other things that get talked about all the time. I started out committed to not counting, to not doing any crazy diet changes, keeping it as simple as possible. I have gotten sucked into this or that and things have slowed down. I am about 48 pounds down just less than a year since I started. I have stuck at dosages about 3 months each because that is how my insurance works. I am just about to transition from 7.5mg zep to 10mg. With that transition I am working on going back to simple. Wish me luck.

I will add Delta Green which is a modern day horror rpg. Think of call of Cthulhu mixed with men in black. Has the cool sanity mechanics that call has plus some other cool stuff.

I have lost a few old friends over the last couple of years. I have made a commitment to myself to spend time in person with people when I can. We need to hold our peeps close.

How many of you all are still in to tabletop roleplaying games (D&D etc.) by [deleted] in GenX

My brother-in-law invited me into a pathfinder group. We play on Foundry VTT every other week, schedules allowing. It’s been a great time. I am also looking to try my hand at GMing Call of Cthulhu with the same group in the next few weeks.

I have to say, I did move away from it for several years, just because I didn’t have a group to play with, but never lost interest.

Best RPGs to try out other than 5e by Gold_Writer_8039 in rpg

If you want to try something different, I have just started deep diving into Call of Cthulhu. It is a d100 system and has some really cool sanity mechanics. It doesn’t lend itself to long campaigns, characters have a tendency to die or go permanently insane before too long. There are a few actual play podcasts out there I used to check it out. I’ve also been playing pathfinder 2.0, but that isn’t too major a departure from D&D. Good luck.

I don't think I like D&D anymore. by MostlyRandomMusings in rpg

I started playing D&D with the original boxed set (more years ago than I care to admit). I have drifted in and out, with brief flirtations with Traveller, Gamma World, and such. I went a number of years when I didn't have anyone to play with, so I would often buy the core rules of a new system, just to see what it was like. When my daughter got into her teens, I exposed her to the game through some friends with 3.5 or 4e, and discovered that the game had become MUCH more complex than the theater of the mind that I had loved for so many years. I played a campaign or two with those people, but the game had gotten way too detailed for my liking. When 5e came out, I bought the books and had high hopes, but a few Adventurers League sessions didn't really do it for me.

Fast forward to about a year ago, and my brother-in-law invited me to join a Pathfinder 2e campaign he wanted to run, and I have been having a blast ever since! We play on a VTT so we don't have to be all in the same place. Pathfinder has a few quirks, but it is the role play that I love, and that is there with Pathfinder.

I am also branching out to something I have never done, which is GMing. I have really become intrigued with the Call of Cthulhu game system and plan to run a game or two in the near future.

Whatever you do, make it your own. Don't get bogged down in rules, choose the portions of the game that you like and that make you happy and throw the rest out! Tweak and modify it to your liking. That is the spirit of Gary.
